  • Arashi Beach was about a mile from where we stayed in Aruba and quickly became one of Leslie’s favorite dive sites as just about every dive involved several turtles and rays. Octopus were also frequent sightings as well. It is a bit of a swim from shore, making a local dive boat a nice alternative. Leave us a comment and we can let you know which ones we preferred.
We want to encourage more shore diving, so this video provides some guidance where the site is, how to dive it and what you may see there. If you want to skip to or review specific topics, the section timings are as follows.

You always make very professional videos and you definitely deserve some more hype, I’ve watched almost all your videos. You do an amazing job!

Thank you so much! To be honest, I am not sure which I have more fun at: diving or making the videos. :-) Leslie would say diving with photos a VERY close second. ;-)

Cool video went here about a year ago. Didn’t go out as far since I only had snorkeling equipment, but there were some sea stars and Caribbean Reef Squid.

Thanks! Arashi really is a great spot. Curaçao is currently on lockdown, so we wish we were back there! :-)

Finding y'all's videos on Aruba shore dives has been a Godsend....we're planning our first trip there in about a mth., and honestly it's a little difficult to find much on the shore diving. We're used to Bonaire's shore diving, which I doubt anywhere will beat, but looks like we'll have some nice ones lined up when we arrive in Aruba! Thanks so much!

Glad you enjoy the videos Terri. We, too, found comprehensive information about shore diving difficult which inspired this series. We are on Curaçao currently and plan to get to Bonaire in May. While Aruba has the fewest shore diving spots, there are some gems. Depending on your schedule, I recommend Tres Trapi, Hole In The Wall and Mangel Halto in that order. Arashi is a bit of a swim, but nice as well. Let us know how it went. Enjoy your trip! - David

@@TropicLens thanks again for the info! I’ll let y’all know how it goes.... and I’m sure the lengthy swim will be all worth it, it certainly looks like it!

Great filming and wonderful pictures of “under the Sea”. I don’t dive, but loved you pictures. The fishes are so beautiful and unique. I specifically liked that you took the time to identify the fishes. I saved you film for future reference to naming fishes. I’ll Visitng Aruba 11/16 on the Carnival Horizon. Do you know if the beach that’s too far for a taxi drive? I fear is not finding a ride back. Thank you. I will share.

Thank you Wanda. Glad you enjoy the videos! You will enjoy Aruba. (We did.). With respect to beaches, Flamingo Beach which is affiliated with the Renaissance hotel is fairly close. They have cabanas, food and, of course, flamingos! It is open to the public, but there is a daily entry fee for non-guests. We also enjoyed Arashi beach; however that would be a longer cab ride (15 minutes or so) north. If you want to snorkel, you can't beat Tres Trapi. The trade-off is that there is very little beach...but that snorkeling is awesome. Hope this helps. Travel safely. Let us know how you liked it. :-)

I love your shore dive collection. Do you know a place to rent tanks close to Arashi Beach?

We're glad you like The Shore Dive Collection, David. When we were in Aruba, it was right after the Covid related lockdown, so quite a few dive shops were not yet open as there weren't enough visitors to support all of them. That said, we dove regularly with Pure Diving Aruba and JADS. By now, there are probably shops open in the north; but we are not familiar with any. Sorry.
