Thanks Richard. I try my best to keep the pack weight down but it's a bit hard with so much filming gear. I need to try and lighten that up for the coming year I think.
Based on what you said about your family members, they are all well grounded. That son of yours has got an incredible head on his shoulders. May you all be blessed with health, peace, and happiness.
I’ve thought for some time that you are a very strong women, both physically, emotionally and mentally. Your pack weight, carrying extra items including the gear to do such excellent videography, items for Indy and dry wood from home just demonstrates your physical strength. Contentment and gratitude, being in the moment and enjoying that moment. Very wise words. I must say I am experiencing gratitude and contentment sitting in my lounge with rain outside watching your latest adventure into our great outdoors.
Great video Cathy. Love the enthusiasm and energy you bring to your camping experiences. Really agree with you in regard to appreciating and expressing gratitude in our lives. (though I am rarely grateful to have damp wood burning smoke wafting into my face while trying to cook. 😉)
Thanks Rosie. I felt so in love with life on this trip. Ha ha ha, yes that smoke in the face situation is so challenging. It's like a nagging person that won't leave you alone. Just when I sit down and relax, arggg, smoke. So I move, and just when I sit down and relax, arggg smoke again.
Loved this video seeing how much joy you have for camping in the rain it was lovely how you shared about your family and how proud they are and supportive of you they are it was a real treat you should be super super proud of yourself too I look forward to seeing more of your videos your chanel is by far the most enjoyable watch for me 😊
It's a shame not to bring her, but I have to say the lighter weight of my pack as a result was a treat. I'll try my darndest to have her on the next one. Thanks
Nice to hear about your family. I have a son and daughter too and feel the same way - proud. Great vid! Your hands must have been cold breaking up that wood
Thanks 😊 yes chilly hands. Silly thing is I had gloves, I just hate having to take them off all of the time to do things. I need to look for closer fitting ones.
Thank you so much Shinta. I appreciate your support and your lovely words. It means a lot to know people understand the effort that goes into them, not just physical energy, there is a lot of care and attention. Thanks for noticing. Cathy
From West Chester, OH - thanks for a fantastic camp, fireside chat, discussion of new tarp, sound of the running river and rain. You had that song in my head & it dawned on me it was Belinda Carlisle of the Go Gos! Actually, they were good songs and kicked off another era of great girl bands. P.S. I finished reading ‘Horse’ & ‘The Alice Network’
Belinda Carlisle, that is it. Ahh, not Tiffany. Thanks, I knew it was a solo 80s chick. Did you enjoy those books? I am hurrying to finish The Alice Network as need to return it in a few days. I have 'I know why the caged bird sing' by Maya Angelou, to read after that.
The rain is going to run off the tarp straight into the tent opening Cathy, what were u thinking 🤣 absolutely enjoy the sound of a running creek, thanks for all the effort it take to bring us with u, I really appreciate it. 💯😎hugs for Indi.🤗 Belinda Carlisle sang it
Love watching you guys in NZ, this was a great camp and thanks for sharing about your family 🙏🏾also, I see you guys just drink straight from steam so you don’t need no filter at all(excuse my ignorance) lol
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sticking around 😆 i love seeing g the same names popping up in the comments. You guys that watch and comment regularly give me such encouragement.
Apologies, I read your comment on my phone originally, and missed the second half of your comment. We usually have to filter or treat our water, but the places I mostly go to have no farming, forestry, huts or other civilisation in the headwaters above them. I definitely wouldn't drink straight from the streams if they did. I also wouldn't trust water from areas that I don't know really well. I have been drinking from these rivers for a few decades, so I think my gut knows them well.
Wow loved this one. The new confidence you have with your natural voice has spilled over into making you more confident overall. You must have felt it in this one. It’s good to know about you and the fireside chat was so well don’t. Felt like you were more yourself in this. Loved it when you swore re cooking food. Nice job. Thanks for the effort.
ha ha, yes, absolutely. I was in a chipper mood on this trip. Some times I am just bubbling with energy and I film as though no one will watch, and I am just hanging out with mates. Thank you for appreciating the effort that goes in to these.
Hi ya Cathy I love watching you set up camp ,lighting the camp fire is my favourite .I have a wood stove at home i have to be the one to get it going its the thing i love doing most and then cooking on it ,i am going to miss winter just for that alone 😔😂Kudos to you getting a fire started with wet wood dont forget to poke and prod 🤣Q is you wine pouch a camp thing I thought t was so cool😁It was really nice to hear you have a loving supportive family ,it sounds like you all support each other to help them grow an to be Individuals ,but also knowing that your there for them if needed I find that to be the most important .Thankyou Cathy for taking us along on a refreshing camp .Sending love and blessings to you and your family ❤🙏and a big cuddle to Indy .💞From Me V Aussie Down Under🤗
Yay, being in charge of lighting the woodstove, good stuff. I always race to be the one to light any fire. There is something so therapeutic about getting a fire going. Yes you definitely have to poke and prod. It's compulsory. 'fire fiddling' my dad calls it. Perhaps unnecessary, and yet so necessary (ha ha). Thanks so much, Cathy
Hi there. It’s fall weather for us. And are Robbin’s are medium size and black on the back and a red front. They are so beautiful to see them in the spring. We don’t see them in the winter. Love love the Video. Love Louise Canada
Loved that shot of the river you gave us. And a great backdrop. I have a few questions to ask, please. Why are tarp’s set so high in inclement weather? Seems if they were lower there would be more protection. All the camper’s I watch set it that way. I’m just curious. Are you on the South Island? I can’t remember. Ok. That’s enough. Thanks again for the great videos. Very relaxing.
Thanks John. It is lovely to have you along to enjoy it with me. I honestly think about that when I see something I marvel at or that brings me joy. I just have to show you guys so you can see what I see and experience what I experience.
Cool video. Do you have a preference with tarps? Am i correct you use Stoney Creek or DD Hammocks? They seem very sturdy even in the videos where there was a decent breeze blowing, and i like the creative way of anchoring them to keep everything underneath dry. 👍
Hi Mark. My Stoney Creek Drone tarp is the most robust and dependable tarp I own for windy conditions. It is bullet proof. It doesn't have ridge line or mid point tie downs points though, so my options for tarp configuration are reduced compared with the DD Hammock. My DD ripped in the wind a couple of weeks ago. Has been a great tarp for light weight and configuration options, but I could tell from day 1 it was never going to be a forever tarp as the tiedown points felt like a week point. I could see the stitching pulling. This smaller one in this video is a Rab Stiltarp. So far so good. Looks well made.
I am always amazed at the size of the pack you are able to carry. Where did you get your core strength from? Were you a sports woman ? Or a gym junkie? My guess is a net baller or a cricket player? Another superb video! I find your voice to be very therapeutic.
That is so funny. I wonder if it is core strength or bloody mindedness?? ha ha. I am a little bit strong in the body but very strong in the mind. Quite literally I think that is what it is. I am so flippin determined to take for example, a hot tent and stove, into the mountains, that nothing will stop me.
Aww come on...that's probably the very first time that birdie had a hot " home cooked" meal....besides we all have to mutate sometime, no ? Hardy lass...quite true when you're young it's gathering the money and time off from work for an adventure, with weather and all too... when your old it's gathering up the money, the energy for the long bush wacks aren't possible so we have to find stealth or the road less traveled type of spots. Thanks for never giving up and.... leaving no trace.I thought smashed 🥞 was a regular item...taste better added air and all.Take care, peace to you and yours
😅 well if a new species of pancake eating Robin is discovered we will all know where its genetic line started hey! I hear you when you speak of mustering up the energy for a bush whacking mission into the mountains vs finding a sneaky near the road spot. It can be exhausting to lug gear for miles. Sometimes I just want to wander far enough to feel immersed in nature and hidden away, without the giant slog. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.
Fire might light easier if the thicker branches were 'feathered' to increase their surface area. Also you could try starting the half inch thick branches by using your gas cooker to light them.
Wonderful video Cathy! My 2 cents worth, I don’t care for the live Q&A videos other RUclipsrs put up. They always seem disjointed and awkward. The format you used is great and you can weave it into your own content. Families are a delicate thing to discuss on a social media platform and I thought you did an excellent job of handling the topic. Watching you with Indi leaves no doubt that you’re a great Mom and it’s wonderful that you have such a supportive partner! My best friend and I have enjoyed your videos since the first one! Always looking forward to the next one! Cheers!
Thanks Brian. I am really glad you enjoy them. Can I ask, as I am not sure based on your comment, are you saying there 'is' a lack of commercials on my videos, or that you would prefer a lack of commercials? The reason I ask is that I don't set how many commercials people see, I just turn on the feature and YT manages the rest, so I am always curious as to how YT manages that side of things.
@@adventureot Hi Cathy it's the lack of ads that make it for me. It's just that some yt videos are getting to much of ads. I suppose that when you reach a million subs your channel will be more ads that's the way it goes. Still , keep up the good work and look after your self.
