  • Four Hundred Kenyan police officers are heading off to Haiti this morning as part of a UN-backed mission to try to quell the ongoing violence. In February, armed groups set out to overthrow the government.

Be more specific. Just how did the US ruin Haiti ? The US is the only country that brought peace to Haiti . Restored order. Held elections. It was Haitians who continually brought down their government. Government officials who , whether they be corrupt or not, are assassinated or forced down. Even when the Kenyans leave the Haitians will continue to fight amongst themselves. The Kenyans will be the next ones to be blamed for what the Haitians are doing to themselves.

Why didn't the US and NATO with their advanced technology in warfare go to fight in Haiti rather than send poor Kenyan soldiers to die in a conflict they know nothing about? What was promised to President Ruto? Kenyans have so many challenges right now and the priority of the Kenyan Government is to send troops to Haiti? Is President Ruto living in a different Kenya?

Optics. The USA understands how bad it looks sending their own troops to a country they destabilized. If the US steps foot in Haiti, all Haitians will put their differences aside and join together to fight the US out. So they are asking a country Haiti might be more reasonable with to go instead.

It's a peacekeeping mission. They're going there in a military capacity, hence the military uniforms, but they're not waging war so the helmets are to easily distinguish between them and the Haitians fighting each other. UN peacekeeps do the same but with blue helmets.
