- Four Hundred Kenyan police officers are heading off to Haiti this morning as part of a UN-backed mission to try to quell the ongoing violence. Kenya has pledged to send a total of 1,000 officers to serve alongside forces from other countries. Haiti has long been plagued by gang violence. In February, armed groups set out to overthrow the government.

I can’t imagine how this is going to work. I am guessing that the number one objective of the Kenyans will be to make it back to Kenya alive.

You and your brother are shameless.
I wonder just how effective they are going to be. For starters, can they speak French or Creole? I don't think that Haiti can be saved by foreign troops, even if they come under an UN flag. Haiti is a failed state, its citizens are completely lawless. UN troops cannot stay forever. Good luck to the troops on the ground, but I think that they are on a heading to nowhere
I don't think there are such things as failed states. As long as people are there's they have to Duke it out. That's the way it's been done for thousands of years. This new age idea that people are going to solve everything by talking it out instead of going to war does not hold up to history.

Nice to see someone stepping up to help after France and US ruined the island. If the people accept them they have a chance
Be more specific. Just how did the US ruin Haiti ? The US is the only country that brought peace to Haiti . Restored order. Held elections. It was Haitians who continually brought down their government. Government officials who , whether they be corrupt or not, are assassinated or forced down. Even when the Kenyans leave the Haitians will continue to fight amongst themselves. The Kenyans will be the next ones to be blamed for what the Haitians are doing to themselves.
To come: Caribbean Community members Jamaica, Bahamas, Guyana, Barbados, and Antigua and Barbuda, as well as Bangladesh, Benin, and Chad.[4] Then-Kenyan Foreign Minister Alfred Mutua stated that Spain, Senegal and Chile would likely deploy security personnel.
Stay in Kenya makes no sense to fight against our own they all have a reason for fighting for there right
What could possibly go wrong with thousands of what I am sure are highly disciplined African and Bangladeshi soldiers peace keeping in the lovely little country of Haiti?
Nairobi is ON FIRE are you kidding me?
Kudos to our police. May God be with you.
Nonetheless, Ruto MUST go. Zakayo must resign.
How ironic the timing. Someone waited until those police were sent to attempt a coup on the embassy. This was not coincidence, it was timeout by someone when to act.
Rest in peace our brothers
Restoring stabilitiy? Haiti has never been stable.
Yes it has… When Duvalier was President of Haiti kids were going to school peacefully and there was food, electricity, low crime etc but then America tried to give Haiti “Freedom” plus before that time many tourist and the French used to call Haiti the “Pearl of The Carribean”
This will absolutely not end well
Why didn't the US and NATO with their advanced technology in warfare go to fight in Haiti rather than send poor Kenyan soldiers to die in a conflict they know nothing about? What was promised to President Ruto? Kenyans have so many challenges right now and the priority of the Kenyan Government is to send troops to Haiti? Is President Ruto living in a different Kenya?
So US is to blame no matter what they do?
Optics. The USA understands how bad it looks sending their own troops to a country they destabilized. If the US steps foot in Haiti, all Haitians will put their differences aside and join together to fight the US out. So they are asking a country Haiti might be more reasonable with to go instead.
Cause the u.s is damned if they do, and damned if they dont according to your comment.

I don't get the cammo on the clothes and the helmet in broken white?.... I'm missing something?
It's a peacekeeping mission. They're going there in a military capacity, hence the military uniforms, but they're not waging war so the helmets are to easily distinguish between them and the Haitians fighting each other. UN peacekeeps do the same but with blue helmets.
God speed to the entire relief force. The haitian ppl have suffered long enough. The gangs must be dealt with asap.
Police officers now soldiers make up your mind thier either 1 or the other i hope they not going in un armed because the gangs are armed crime in kenya is bad peoples killed in daylight over thier so this brings no hope when they have no control over kenya 😂
Thanks to the UN t; wish this was much earlier. One thinks more African countries should send police & possibly Soldiers to bring PEACE to that country & others, like Sudan & Congo DR.
With the corruption record of the police in Kenya what could possibly go wrong???
Look at you Kenya! High five! Goodluck with the Americans. I think maybe ditch the white helmets/targets.

“The mission is led by Kenya and coordinated with the Haitian National Police; though backed by the UNSC, it is not a United Nations operation.[3] Personnel have been pledged by Caribbean Community members Jamaica, Bahamas, Guyana, Barbados, and Antigua and Barbuda, as well as Bangladesh, Benin, and Chad.[4] Then-Kenyan Foreign Minister Alfred Mutua stated that Spain, Senegal and Chile would likely deploy security personnel.” Wiki
