Sir you are a Genius. Many videos are on RUclips on error codes but your video is the absolute best. I was about to call the expensive repair man or buy a new washer. But because of your amazing video I saved between $200 to $500.00 dollars. My wife sends you a great big thank you.
My 4 year old Whirlpool washer stopped working literally two days ago. The power is on but the start button doesn't work. It's a laundry machine and you use it every once in a week at least. I tried to figure out why and how this happened, so I opened the top panel, of course not much but only seeing the green light blinking on the control board which is useless. I contacted the Whirlpool CS, and wasted my time for nothing since all they said was to contact the local technician which will take days to come. I decided to just buy a new one from LG since my mom had one single model since 1997 when my parents built a new house as a gift, still running (recently motor failed and my dad got a refurbished one and replaced it). But then I found this video. This is great, I mean how to diagnosis is the matter I needed to know but Whirlpool CS didn't tell me for "customer's safety issue and any possible damage to the appliance" - I already said if it doesn't work, then I will just disassemble the entire machine and get rid off it, I don't know what more damage can be happened. Now I have another way to "try". You are awesome, Ben. Thank you so much, Whirlpool really should appreciate and reward your work, especially the way you prolong the life span of the products more than the manufacturer.
Have this exact washer. Went to do a load and had nothing on the panel. Found this video, followed your instructions, and am currently sitting by it watching it work! Thank you so much! Thankful Nana
dear ben i could hug you big time!!! this has happened to me 3 times now when we have a short power out. the first two times the washer was under warranty. both times under warranty they put in a new drain pump and recirculator. thinking it was the what happened the third time i swapped out the drain pump assembly and..... that wasn't it this time. i was ready to spend 3K on a new set washer and dryer. as i was ready to enter my credit card number i said to myself, i am gonna give it one more go, and i found your video!!! it happens to be the exact washer mine is the 6620 model but your 3 button sequence worked and i am again washy clothsy lol!!! i was searching youtube earlier by model number, maybe add that to your heading! i am glad i searched that one more time, you are great !!!!! thank you thank you thank you!!!! signed, the most fixenest mom in the whole world!
Thanks Ben, you're a lifesaver. Saved me a service call and possibly having to buy another washer. I have a slightly different model WFW6620HC0 in question and the front control panel went out suddenly. Tried all possible reset procedures found online...non worked. Came across this video and tried entering the Diagnostic Mode as described with the three buttons (black and white) but non worked so I tried the last three (white) buttons "Extra Rinse" "Pre Soaked" and "Load & Go" in the same sequence as Ben described and VOILA! Used the third button to cycle thru the error codes and cleared them. Tried exiting the Diagnostic Mode by pressing the Power button but that didn't work so I just unplug the cord and plug it back in a few mins later and everything worked like a charm. Subscribed and ten thumbs up for Ben!
THANK YOU! Saved me another service call! The service tech was just here a few weeks ago and basically did the same thing for $155. This time I did it myself!
I have this exact washer. My dryer started making a squeaking sound and we called in our warranty. They sent out a repairman who not only did NOT fix the squeaking but messed around with the control panel when he did not have to. Now my dryer has to run two times for 1 load to get dryer and during the run both the "more time" and "less time" buttons are lit up. I definitely don't want to call them out again but I would like my dryer fixed. Thank you I will watch this video in completion more than once for sure
Thank you! You just saved me a huge headache! Next time an ice storm shuts down the power, I will unplug this baby before the power comes back on. It’s working great now! Thank you!
Ben, Thank You for making this video, you just saved me a ton of money and time! Similar to what you described, my black keys were almost entirely unresponsive, so I used the white keys to access the diagnostic mode just like you showed, reviewed and wrote down my error codes, then reset/cleared the codes like you showed, then hit the power button a couple of times and everything lit up like normal. I was then able to start the machine and it seems to be running as good as new again. THANK YOU!
Ben, Thank You for making this video, one of my washers was throwing an F6E3 error code after swapping out the filler modules unplugging wasn't resetting/clearing codes; Followed your demo to reset/cleared the codes like you showed, then power cycled her and now she running as good as new again. THANK YOU SIR!
@@bensappliancesandjunk do you know anything about a PF (Power Failure) Code? I have done so much reading about it online but haven’t found anything. My breaker box has no bad fuses or tripped breaker. I am so confused.
@@jesspresley6660 usually PF is just when the breaker has been turned off/on and the machine got triggered with a power failure code. Usually you can just cancel out and be OK. Very routine code.
Thank you because of your video I got my machine working again. The only problem was that once I clear all the codes I had to unplug the electrical cord from the back for about 12 Seconds. Thank you
Why doesn’t the engineers of this company just have a plain simple reset button? Why have codes nobody can read or understand without doing the Dick Tracey thing on the internet trying to figure out what it means?! Next washer will be a more simple brand without all the nonsense crap.

Thanks Ben for making this video! My washer on control lock and it had no way to clear it! I stumbled upon your video and gave it a shot! I entered the secret mode, couldn’t understand it even more, and I was devastated to turn it off! Luckily it was successfully turned off after pressing the power button and the control lock was cleared!!!!! And it’s functioning properly! Not recommending the watchers here to do the same thing, it was just a fluke I guess😊
Nice! I am going to make a new video on the control lock feature soon as there is in fact, an issue with the control board sometimes if the lock doesn't come undone
I have the exact same model, WFW5620HW0. I really appreciate the video, but unfortunately I couldn't get the diagnostics mode to do anything useful. First of all, it wouldn't go into diagnostics mode with the 9 button presses (1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3) within 8 seconds. Oddly, mine required 11 button presses (1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2). In diagnostics mode it did show an error code, F6E2, but the system didn't respond to 1-2-3 commands as Ben showed (and as shown in the Repair Tech Sheet). The display and LED behavior in response to button presses was completely different, and completely useless! HOWEVER, I did figure out how to fix my washer. I'm posting the sequence that worked for me just in case this might help someone else. By the way, I had this same problem with this washer two years ago and the fix was essentially the same. 1. Unplugged unit for several hours (in my case, overnight). 2. Plugged the unit back in. (Fiddled more with diagnostics mode, but I don’t think this helped at all) 3. Waited about 1-2 hours and the unit started putting out a double-chime every 10 minutes. 4. After about an hour or two the display started showing a different error code, F6E1 (which is different than the F6E2 code it was showing the day before when in diagnostics mode) 5. Waited another 4 hours. 6. Pressed the Power button once and the unit came back to life.
OMG…thank you!! Pressing the 3 keys in a row did not work to get into diagnostics. I used the white keys but was unable to press three in a row as some keys would not “ding”. However the Pre-soak key showed me numbers…so I was able to long press the Pre-soak key for about 3 seconds. It counted down to 1 and voila!! the machine is miraculously working. 🤪😀

Very helpful video. Thank you. I have s question, I have the same style and model washer, but my issue is that when I start my wash cycle the sensing light is not on, and it would not spin, there's a growling sound and no water comes out either. In test mode it only spins counterclockwise.
Hello Ben, Thank you for this video. Did you made a video for the dryer error codes for this particular model? Please let me know, thank you in advance.
Thank you for this very helpful video. I have one of these washer at home and since we installed a water softener, I get the LoFL code during rinse cycle ONLY. When I run the diagnostics, everything works fine. When I run a quick cycle everything works fine. Only when I go with the Normal program, the washer fills OK, starts washing and about an hour into the program throws a LoFL code. I cannot find what's wrong. When I bypass the water softener system, everything works fine. Any ideas where I could look?
Hi Ben I have the exact same washer and it seems like the control panels are locked, the on button won’t turn. When I press the hold start button the lock symbol flashes, when I hold the extra rinse button it count downs from 3 to 1 and displays LOC but still won’t unlock the control panel any suggestions would be appreciated thank you
We only made it to 6 weeks, and it's been down. I'm getting a repair person next week . We had an issue very recently with a GE refrigerator. That lasted 2 days. They couldn't get the replacement parts, but GE came through and replaced it! We have tried everything to resolve the water flow errors without any success.
Mine was saying LOC with the red key. Pressing the 3 buttons, black or white, in a row did not work. But I press the extra rinse button and held for 3 seconds for the control lock and it unlocked the controls. Voila it's working
Hi Ben, Great video- I have the same model in grey. At first I thought it was an issue with power, however if I hold the rinse it does the count down to go into and out of LOC mode. No other buttons are responsive. Ive done the unplug for 3 min and try again as well as resetting the breaker. Is there something else I can troubleshoot to potentially identify my issue? Thanks in advance.
@@ericsutliff9933 It appears I had the same issue as both of you. I was able to access the codes. Use the 3 white buttons on right (Temp, Spin, Soil) click 3 times each in that order and it will bring up diagnostic mode. In my case I had a F8E3 "Overflow" which I believe was triggered from me moving the machine. I was able to hit the power button which then cleared the code and shut down the machine. It restarted and is working fine. Good luck.
Hi Thanks for detailed information, I have Whirlpool model WFW560CHW and getting code bbc. Diagnostic mode also not working while having bbc error code. There is no description about this code in Manual . I have disconnect the washer more than 1 minute to give the reset , but doe not help. Do you have any recommendations.
Same here. Had it since Jan.24. Biggest piece of junk. Technician has now replaced electronic board, still stops when it gets to spin mode. Today he’s been working on it for two hours, so far without success.
I have an Amana front load cloth washer model number NFW5800HWG using it for the first time. I am doing towels and I do not know how much it can wash safely in one setting. What do you recommend?
I have the Model:WFW560CHW0. It shows the f6e2 error. I can't scroll through the test features. The HMI works. Tried reset sequence but doesn't work. Power off over night doesn't work. Any suggestions?
I have that same model, and I cannot find a solution for the softener dispenser that is not working, it is always full at the end of the sycle, I have cleaned it up and stopped using it, because I can't find a solution to this other than replace the cold water pump... Is there another solution to that...? What do you recommend to do other than change the pump.
Hi Ben, when on Human Machine Interface Test my black buttons do not respond to press but the white buttons respond. Ive also cleared the error codes but when trying to get out of the diagnostic mode I would have to turn it off from the circuit breaker due to the plug being inaccessible. Im not able to run a manual test either because the Start button does not respond. Could it be the black panel itself thats faulty? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
I too want to thank you for this video. Whirlpool customer service is anything but interested in servicing the customer. All they want to do is schedule a service visit. I do have one question for you if I may - I have this exact same model. It retains any wash mode modifiers indefinitely. The manual indicates that unplugging the washer for 30 seconds should reset it to defaults, but IT DOES NOT. I have literally left it unplugged for hours and it still retains the modified wash modes. Does the service manual offer a factory reset key press sequence? If so, I'd be forever in your debt as my modes are frequently out of source and getting back to defaults with the manual matrix is tedious. Thanks!!
Not yet. Thats one I have to do soon as I do think I have one available to get codes figured out on. Edit: I'll put that in the queue to shoot at the end of the week, hopefully if I still have one. Otherwise, I know I have the top console type with the same button sequences, I think, that could be used in lieu.
Does the thee button sequence work on all front load whirlpool washer? I have whirlpool compact washer W5090JWO and I can’t get into the diagnostic mode.
Have have this model. Im getting an F6E3 error code. So i did test 07... to spin the drum. All of the pumps went off but the drum did not spin. Then i get the F6E3 error code again, which is to change the ACU control panel. Are we sure that is all, or do i have to do i have to consider the rotor and stator as well??? Any guidence would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Ben, i have the sane washing machine as you have here. It is not spinning enough to squeeze the water out. It does not spin fast enough. I tried the black and white button to go to diagnostic mode but it does not show me the error code. I hope you can help me figure out.
Try different combinations. It took me a few tries to get in there and I used different buttons to get there. You can use the black ones just the same to get in there too.
Hey Ben I have a Frigidaire refrigerator double door that sweat inside the food section and the other side it cover with little ice what’s the problem there?
Sounds like excess ice build up in the freezer side that may be creeping over to the refrigerator side. Check behind the freezer panel for extreme ice build up or damaged components.
I followed the steps exactly, but unfortunately it’s still not working. This is a brand new machine, I had it for only two weeks. I’m about to go back to Spencers and return it😭
So, I can get in to clear the errors, but then the power button will not work. I've been able to clear them before, and replaced the pump when it was the problem last time, but now I'm stuck.
Ben, would you have or possibly know someone that would have a video like this one for the matching electric dryer? No one on RUclips has a video for the matching electric dryer.
Just replaced Expensive GE that I had for 3 years and motor went out. Used this washer successfully one load. Now pressing start button produces a red flashing lock symbol a few seconds with panel lights on and then washer eventually turns off and will not start! Trying the 3 button 3x in 8 seconds does not produce codes. Do the buttons need to be pressed with power on or off, or unplugged a few minutes first? I’ve tried all of the above.
I attempted to follow your instructions the power button won't turn it off there's a little red lock and it's blinking 15 like it's getting ready to wash I pressed the extra rinse button to unlock it and it doesn't unlock it, I unplugged it overnight and plugged it in this morning and it's still has the little red block and it says 0.15 like it's getting ready to wash
Hi Ben, I have this exact model and it has completely shut off and door is locked. I'm not sure if it displayed an error code during cycle since the washer is in the garage. I unplugged the washer for a while to see if it would reset but no results, still no power to unit. Any suggestions is appreciated!
Communication failure. You'd want to check connections between the UI board and main PCB to see if there's damage to the wires or if they are loose. Otherwise a tech and/or board replacement is in the cards.
Verify you're getting electric to the board. With the top off, unplug, w a t for 30sec then plug back in. Listen for clicks, ans there may be a light on the board. If you never hear a click it's either the board or something before it like a noise filter
😮💨 Seriously these newer washers are a pain in the butt!! I replaced a for latch module just to find it it continued to give me the E3 F5 ERROR CODE only to find out i may only if needed to do a test run and clear the codes 🤦♂️i Miss my old washer. Just a turn of the knob and pull.

how do you reset the factory presets? can you do this in diagnostic mode?
How do u unlock the door because mine has been locked for days
Hi my machine keeps showing “PF” can you help with that?
Same problem here. I replaced the board and stuck on loc
I have this same machine and I hate it have been washing one load for 3 hours like huh on quick wash
Same here. Had it since Jan.24. Biggest piece of junk. Technician has now replaced electronic board, still stops when it gets to spin mode. Today he’s been working on it for two hours, so far without success.
Good job bens 👍
Thanks 👍
Hi, my washer is showing FLLow, what does that means??
Hope you can help me!!
I have an Amana front load cloth washer model number NFW5800HWG using it for the first time. I am doing towels and I do not know how much it can wash safely in one setting. What do you recommend?
Now how do u clean the filter on that model is the million dollar ?
I have the Model:WFW560CHW0. It shows the f6e2 error. I can't scroll through the test features. The HMI works. Tried reset sequence but doesn't work. Power off over night doesn't work.
Any suggestions?
Got into the diagnostic mode like 3 times..cleared the codes...now I can't get back in...tried black and white buttons. I have exact same model.
May be a buggy UI. I have one that's similar I have to test and do a video on soon
I have that same model, and I cannot find a solution for the softener dispenser that is not working, it is always full at the end of the sycle, I have cleaned it up and stopped using it, because I can't find a solution to this other than replace the cold water pump...
Is there another solution to that...?
What do you recommend to do other than change the pump.
need help the detergent box at the bottom is not dispensing soap have you ran across this issue with the same unit?
Happen to know what the menu means when you hold down the temp and soil buttons? Model wfw 5605mw0
Helped me out alot thank you
I too want to thank you for this video. Thanks!!
How do I remove Loc error code from my washer? Thank you
Do you have one for the dryers that stack on top of this ?
Not yet. Thats one I have to do soon as I do think I have one available to get codes figured out on.
Edit: I'll put that in the queue to shoot at the end of the week, hopefully if I still have one. Otherwise, I know I have the top console type with the same button sequences, I think, that could be used in lieu.
Is there any tech sheets inside the machine?
You are awesome!
I was about ó return it t the store
Does the thee button sequence work on all front load whirlpool washer? I have whirlpool compact washer W5090JWO and I can’t get into the diagnostic mode.
Have have this model. Im getting an F6E3 error code. So i did test 07... to spin the drum. All of the pumps went off but the drum did not spin. Then i get the F6E3 error code again, which is to change the ACU control panel. Are we sure that is all, or do i have to do i have to consider the rotor and stator as well???
Any guidence would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I tried all suggested for loc and could not get the machine to turn on at all. Even after unplugging then trying the sequence of buttons again
Do you recommended this washer?
No. For front load, go Electrolux or LG
Check behind the freezer panel for extreme ice build up or damaged components.
where can i find a copy of the service manual?
I usually get mine from ApplianceTechManuals.com. I am trying to work a deal out w/ them to sponsor some manuals.
You can down load it from the Whirlpool on line. Just be sure you have the model/series number.
How do we remove the drain pump for this one
It's showing F6E2 for me, but after pressing the 3rd button for 5 secs, the error is not resetting.
How’s it going. My machine turns on and everything but it will not let me hold and start the cycle. How can I fix this?
How about no power but house
plug is good.
How to unlock the door using the button codes?
I have the exact same machine. It is giving me a F6E3 erro what should I do?
It shows the error code at 3:19.
Ben, would you have or possibly know someone that would have a video like this one for the matching electric dryer? No one on RUclips has a video for the matching electric dryer.
Not that I know of. However, I think I have one of these dryers in my shop I can pull from the sales floor and do a video on.
We have the same washer but the error code mode is not coming up
Hi Ben, I have this exact model and it has completely shut off and door is locked. I'm not sure if it displayed an error code during cycle since the washer is in the garage. I unplugged the washer for a while to see if it would reset but no results, still no power to unit. Any suggestions is appreciated!
Ben, I have a Whirlpool dryer code showing E1 F6. Any suggestion before I have call a handy man or a repairman? Thanks in advance.
Communication failure. You'd want to check connections between the UI board and main PCB to see if there's damage to the wires or if they are loose. Otherwise a tech and/or board replacement is in the cards.
will this work on Amana with same panel?
Whirlpool makes Amana. It’s worth a try
Hi Ben, if my control panel doesn't even start and I tried your method. Any tricks?
Verify you're getting electric to the board. With the top off, unplug, w a t for 30sec then plug back in. Listen for clicks, ans there may be a light on the board. If you never hear a click it's either the board or something before it like a noise filter
How do you take that panel off
unscrew the back first
😮💨 Seriously these newer washers are a pain in the butt!! I replaced a for latch module just to find it it continued to give me the E3 F5 ERROR CODE only to find out i may only if needed to do a test run and clear the codes 🤦♂️i Miss my old washer. Just a turn of the knob and pull.
Thanks for the great video! Can someone please explain how to adjust the "customer-focused dryness level" on model WHD862CHC0? Ever since a now-retired technician changed some settings, mine keeps running for 1-2 hours even after the clothing is totally dry. Many thanks!
Hello, I have a Front load whirlpool gold washer model # WFW6620HW2 and this did not work. It won't power on at all..can you please help because its only 5 years old!
