One of the most delirious runway-reveal I have ever witnessed! Filmed in December 2021 in Paris and London! Kim Jones and his team take the time to explain an important collection in his Dior canon, the first where the inspiration is litterature, a movement of litterature, an idea of freedom: On the Road by Jack Kerouac is the starting point. How do you do a coat from a book? How do you express the trance of On The Road in a shoe? We have a Dior Shoe Report! We had fun filming, we had fun editing, I hope you have fun watching!

Bravo! A brilliant and incredible creative collection by Kim Jones! Loic, I concur with Adrien von Ferscht. You are THE iconic fashionographer. You give credit not only to the designer, but you mention the names of the models, the clothes, the fabrics and materials used. You create excitement and interest in every fashion show you narrate. You are indispensable to the fashion world.
I feel like he’s the ultimate sports commentator…but of fashion!! And i absolutely LIVE for it.
Et un autre samedi ensoleillé par votre documentaire si gracieux! Je ne suis pas sure que M. Kerouac serait sensible à la vision de M. Jones sur la beatgeneration par le luxe. Mais c’est une belle interprétation! Quel talent M. Jones! Et toujours beaucoup d’intelligence dans les commentaires et la façon de filmer. Merci! ❤️

Merci à vous Loic et à toute l'équipe pour cette superbe revue du défilé Dior ! Un vrai plaisir de vous écouter et de contempler les créations de Kim Jones ! Et dire que je suis en train de lire :" Et les hippopotames ont bouilli vifs dans leur piscine" De William Burroughs et Jack Kerouac, ça tombe bien ! Je vous conseille ce livre d'ailleurs ! Pour ma part, j'estime que les créateur•trice•s de mode ont le droit de s'inspirer des oeuvres littéraires de la Beat Generation, c'est un imaginaire collectif qui nous parle à toustes et aux revendications fortes. Je trouve que c'est une bonne idée de faire une collection sur ce mouvement et d'incorporer petit à petit ces valeurs au sein de la mode (?). Pourquoi percevoir toujours le mal partout ?
Bref, un immense merci 💖
Je ne veux pas faire le lycéen rebelle mais :
Mode = cliché du capitalisme ; Kerouak = cliché de l'anticapitalisme. Il y a comme un problème du coup non ? Surtout à une époque où on nage en plein greenwashing...
Magnifiquement bien filmé, monté, raconté... Quand la forme s'accorde si bien avec le fond, on s'incline !

Love this inspired Dior Mens collection from Kim Jones…his passion and inspiration is very apparent in this collection….engaging and referencing the American iconic and cultural genius Kerouac…King of the Beats … with a big nod to life on the road …the unravelling, rolling road of words on the runaway .. Kim clearly has engaged on so many levels with this collection…. with a luxe American style and theme …and a sense of the modern freedom that Kerouac captured in his writing and thinking..I adore the sparkling knitwear ..just fabulous..and the Dior Saddle bag… my all time favourite bag…and the personal book collection…such unique and collectible treasures ..thanks as always for taking us on the road with you Loic and team 😘

Kim Jones is hitting on all cylinders! WOW, WOW, WOW. Coming from Ohio, I thought the one reference somewhat funny because no one that I know would wear that in the woods if they were in fact from Ohio, however, from the time period he referenced, very much so. He ripped a page out of Ralph Lauren's playbook. I love how Kim Jones is creating the codes of the house referencing the codes of Dior's Archives then flipping them on their heads. It's pure genius. I also love how he is using literature as a reference.
I know that I keep saying it Loic, but I just have to keep telling you how wonderful you and your crew are at storytelling. Thank You.

C'est assez intéressant de voir comment la haute couture s'inspire régulièrement de mouvements définitivement opposés à toute forme de mercantilisme/matérialisme pour ses créations. On a déjà vu ça pour le punk - l'expo "Punk : Chaos to Couture" du MET en 2013 a bien développé ce point. On peut débattre des heures sur la légitimité qu'ont les créateurs de mode à faire de l'argent sur des mouvements qui critiquent les univers qu'ils touchent (à quand un défilé inspiré de Dada ? ce serait drôle), mais en attendant, ces pièces sont vraiment superbes, et l'intention de Kim Jones, ainsi que sa passion, sont perceptibles.

Cétait fabuleux. Quelle belle inspiration littéraire avec une exposition de la collection de livres rares en amuse-bouche. Kim Jones a vraiment agencé magistralement les codes de l'époque Beat Generation, les codes Dior et la nonchalance des vêtements de plein air du continent américain. N'oublions pas que Jack Kerouac était d'origine canadienne- française donc l'esprit des coureurs des bois n'est pas loin.

It is slightly bizarre the use of Kerouac, but being he's cultural canon, it can't be thought of an affront to his person. also who knows the ethos of the beat and the sartorial takes of the prep in period could make perfect sense when we look back in 10, 20 years. cheers loic!

Kim Jones is the best!!!! But is better in Dior than in Fendi in my opinion...
C'est bien il y a bcp plus de mannequins hommes racisés par contre justement je trouve qu'il y a moins de mannequins racisés dans les défilés pour femme. Je trouve ça pas trop normal. Il devrait y avoir plus des personnes racisés dans les défilés femme. Et ceux qui défilent pour la 1ère fois je trouve ils se débrouillent très bien.
J'ai remarqué la même chose en regardant une vidéo de Vogue France sur ce même défilé ( on y suit le jeune mannequin Jean-Luc Ndjoli en backstage, on le voit à 00:19).
Je trouve aussi très dommage qu'il y ait moins de diversité côté femme
