- This video contains all the Easter Eggs in Half Life: Blue Shift, other than one picture in a vent. It also contains all the ways to see them :)
The songs are both from Half Life, one is from the credits, and the other, I believe, is from Xen.
Chumtoad's Lair: • Half Life: Blue Shift:...
1:06 That is an inaccurate depiction of Gordon's walk cycle, he would have been running, jumping around and annoying the scientist passing by.
Haha, and strafing left and right compulsively. I wonder why they retconned this in Blue Shift? ;)
Zeldarulah Its weird to see youre still replying to a comment on a 9 year old video

G-man doesn't look at Barney, because he has no interest in Barney. In contrast to Freeman and Shepard, Barney is "just" a security guard on shift. He survives the portals storms and 7 hour war, and becomes a trusted old friend and ally in HL2. But he is not "vital" to G-Man's inentions.
Just played it through, while seeing this video and G-man looks at Barney if you shoot him lol....
True, but why does the end of Blue Shift have the same title text as Half life and OP4 mentioning that the asset is out of range and no further comment. Like with Gordon who was hired and Shepard who was contained. Is Barney just one of the few that escaped Black Mesa?
Gman was interested in Barney but Barney managed to escape Black Mesa before Gman showed true interest
@@fabian1090 Thats scary lmao
He's just incredibly lucky
0:07 Looks like I'm not the only one who's late! SUCKER!
Lol
nice refrence!
2 good refences in one
"I understood that reference."
Combine Guard *Bouncer*
when your gordon on the tram in hl1 you can see barney knocking on the door
Ttrucker you’re*
Wplos Gamer nobody gives a shit mate
He is also holding a flashlight
And in the start of blue shift you already have it
in the original hl1 , you actually see barney knocking on the door at the start of the game.
and in blue shift you see gordon passing by while you wait for the door to open as barney.
but you forgot one of the biggest easter eggs in the game.
Where you see a dead body of one of the girls (hl decay) in xen near the end of the game.
That's in Opposing Force, not Blue Shift.
@@xamerk Gina is dead? How about Colette? Woah.
@Милан Миловановић It is Gina's model.
why's everyone so much more facinated by the girl on the locekr than the actually hidden thigns in the game, haha
The picture in the bathroom is one of the developers I dont specifically know the developers name but it is one if them
I think it's Marc Laidlaw
i played this game recently and i must say it was AMAZING. from story to details everything was in right place.
@Mega97Gamer They were going to "take him topside for questioning." But they decided to kill him instead, so they through him into this trash compactor room, and take all of his weapons, so in HL you had to escape and then regain your weapons. It's basically the begining of the difficult half of the game.
The egg right before Gordon #3 is also found in Opposing Force
The scene of Gordon being dragged has a continuity issue in it, in HL1, as well as the scrapped ambush cutscene, the cut Gordon rescue mission in Decay and in Black Mesa, both grunts are the gas mask type, but in Blue Shift it's one gas mask grunt and a shotgunner
Interesting. Never knew that
Love the low quality of the game and video. It adds to the authencity.
the dancing scientist is the cowering animation over and over again.
Doesn't look like it to me.
No, it's a separate animation.
There's an earlier point before you get to the door where you can see Gordon Freeman boarding the train.
Yeah he's pretty mysterious. I can't wait for HL2ep.3 to come out to reveal more about him :D
8 years from your post, still nothing :(
hello from the future!
well maybe in alyx
F
@@cylmareall well we got half-life: alyx, hl3 or hl2 ep 3 is still no where to be found 😥
This is one of the spinoffs of HL1 that were made. It's called Half Life: Blue Shift, you play as Barney, he's a major character in Half Life 2 and helps you out at a few parts. He also gives you your crowbar in HL2. You play as Gordon Freeman in regular HL and in HL2.
The cropping on this video is a historical artifact.
I made this in 8th grade and I am 30
@@Zeldarulah Everything back then looked like that.
@@Zeldarulah Oh my god that is insane to think about
The songs are both from half life 2. One is called Something Secret Steers Us, and the other is called Tracking Device.
actually the original is from half life 1, its "Nuclear Mission Jam" also the end credits used at all half life games (probably)
Why youtube made it to the recommended 13 years later
Oh did it? Haha. YT been doing that for all sorts of random videos. I guess this video I made in 8th grade is going to blow up now 😂
@@Zeldarulah I didn't think your account would be active. It's pretty impressive to use the same account for 13 years
0:07 in half life u are actually the barney who is knocking on the door
Very cool video, thank you! I love the first three HL games, especially Opposing Force :0
I finished Blue Shift some months ago and I just remember this the face I saw when jumping on the toilet XD
In opposing force you get 2 different pistols, in Blue Shift just this one.
I like how it connects to other half life games
I love easter eggs... if one day I make a game, I will put a bunch of easter eggs for people to discover :)

Barney in Half-Life 1: Has a Helmet and Armor with Flashlight.
Also Barney in Blue Shift: Looking at Gordon instead of Knocking and he doesn't have any Helmet or Armor.
Yes, in Half Life at the begining if you look too the left you can see Barney Calhoun (main character of Blue Shift) knocking on a door. Later you get carried away by Army Grunts, which is what you can see through the vent in Blue Shift. Opposing Force is another sidegame, where you play as Adrian Shepard, a member of the army. (Spoilers: At the end he's targetted by gman as well, so he may make a return later in the series.) Most people think Blue Shift is the worst of the three.
RUclips: Let's put that in the recommended

@@Zeldarulah The person who found this in their recommended and wasn’t expecting the creator to responding to a thirteen-year-old video: 👁👄👁
you can see gordan getting on the tram too
Barney's alien can also be seen in opposing force if you shoot a specific vent
I noticed another eatser egg. In one of the levels, you can take an alternate route which leads to a destroyed hallway, in this area, there's a metal BOX with all of its contents spilled upon the floor, these happen to be GEARs.
"1. easter egg 259 up, 17 down
A hidden item placed in a movie, television show, or otherwise visual media for close watchers."
Yes it is, given that it is not nearly as hidden as your average easter egg, it still is hidden to an extent. I've had people leave comments for both times stating they did not see it. To be far, the gman one could probably be considered not an easter egg though, so just imagine I put that one in for fun =)
Yeah, it was originally going to be used as a collectible item that would distract alien type enemies, then they made it have the same effect as the Snark(before the Snark existed), and then they simply replaced it with the Snark and just gave it a few cameos throughout the series.
xD are playing a cellphone version ?
Mono Cheto1 A cellphone can run it better than this.
ouch
This vídeos its from 2008.
Exactly, this was as good as it got.
Look at the data
Yeah some other people nnoticed that as well. "It's possible, they use pictures of people to model the faces of their characters in the newer ones, in the credits it should say the name of the person Chell(Portal girl) was modeled after." was my reply. Sounds pretty likely to me, actually.
Some of them weren't Easter eggs...
Yup
the gonomes dancing animation is a reference to that scientist because the gonome does the same moves
Those 2 songs make half life even 100000 times better!
Yep, he sold them the crystals. Or perhaps gave them to Black Mesa? Regardless the crystals are what caused the temporal rifts to Xen, so it's possible that was his plan all along, but who knows?
Thanks :)
(Though I just realized that I skipped a major one, the Chumtoad place on Xen :O.)
Yeah, I actually knew most of these. However, I will say if you do watch carefully when you start up half life on a brand new game, you’ll see Barney trying to get into the security door, the exact same security door that you go to in blue shift in the beginning, it’s like two seconds so watch carefully on the left and if you listen carefully you’ll hear the other security guard say hold on a minute just like he does in blue shift when he tries to open up the door for you
i thought i knew almost everything about half life but i first heard about the decay today!
If you shoot gman when you see him on the tram it makes that counter strike ding
Gordon is not an Easter egg , Half Life and Half Life Blue Shift happen once, when Gorden will put the table in the experiment will come monsters , but that happens in blue shift is not so Gorden easter EEG
Gordon counts as an Easter Egg. It's like when you're watching a movie that's somehow connected to another movie, and then you see the main character of that other movie in that movie you're watching. An Easter Egg can really be anything, from a character appearing in the game, to even just environmental surroundings.
Nice vid dude
I love how Gina Cross can be played by you, is the tutorial hologram, and delivered the disaster.
Because it's hidden, albeit slightly, and a reference to a previous game? A soccer ball is no more an easter egg than a painting hanging on a wall in Half Life.
2:26 Oh hey, it's me : )
I remember that moment at Original Half Life when u went into that room an got knocked: sweet, sweet memories
@Adam5396 the last track is called "tracking device", it's from the hl2 soundtrack
You play as Barney Calhoun in Blue Shift. Gordon is in regular Half Life, and Adrian Shepherd is in Opposing Force.
Those aren't easter eggs, they're textures used for the developers to mark locations where things are meant to happen, they're completely, in addition things you have to noclip out of the game to see aren't eastereggs IMO.
Yeah I saw the strange picture being curious
I realised the reason you see gordon freeman was because he was going to get his hazard suit when you play half life, Like how when you see barney stomping on the door. The stories happen at the same time.
You can see how many more you need to do like it would say, You need a few more to go! and 3 more to go! 2 more to go! , etc
Last place you teleport to in the end look through the vent.
Many such moments in the game
At the end of the level Apprehension in HL. And in HL:Blue Shift you can see him getting captured at the very end of the game through the vent that you get teleported to.
1:27
ok, between this and the GREETINGS thing, i have to say that black mesa has the chillest employees ever.
Actually after I made it I recorded the vent one, but never uploaded it cause it's only a few seconds
you forgot one, when your at the elevator and it crashes, while your unconscious you can see gordon in his suit
They mapped her face onto the game to be used as Chell's, it's a picture of a worker at Valve.
at the end when he is getting grabbed i remeber that i was getting dragged thats pretty cool
Dancing scientist lol
Yeah, from HL, at least. But in Blue Shift it's at the very end when you beat the game.
@Zeldarulah it is part of the story, (mysterious staring person, gman), many things are not REQUIRED to see in the series, but you do.
in the beginning of half life you see barney trying to open the door.
ENGINEER DANCE! 1:27
It's a member of the staff, I believe it was Randy Pitchford, but I could be wrong.
Opposing Force: October 31, 1999
Blue Shift: June 12 2001
And I don't really count Decay, seeing as it was just an extra mode on the ps2. Although I suppose it's canonical, so your right.
I never noticed the scientist dancing, made me laugh.
there is one more where gordon jumps into the portal to xen and just as barney enters the chamber, gordon jumps into it..have to be quick though
Back in 08. Man.
Kind of hard to believe it has been almost a decade since I made this video, lol
I mean for fucks sake, when I put up the annotation at the begining at the top that says "Due to the influx of people asking you play as BARNEY CALHOUN in this game" I thought maybe that would clear it up for some of you who have IQs lower than 12, but obviously not for those under 6, sorry that it didn't work out.
Gman isn't a figment of his imagination. Look at Eli, he knows the gman.
Hah, Snark is fun to kill Scientists + Guards with cause they don't try and kill you for revenge, and sometimes useful for going around corners but grenades work better, so yeah they're pretty pointless. In online matches they can be really cheap lol.
I have a question what is that soundtrack you used at 2:10 Cause I want to listen to that pls respond I appreciate it
Edit: Nevermind! I saw the name in the description. Thanks!
There's left the Chumtoad lair and the Dr. Rosenberg death body
only a select few know about him...gordon, barney and adrian are the least disputed.
and interesting point would be in Opposing Force when the blast door closes in front of you. G-Man's on the opposite side of the glass but none of the other soldiers notice him.
The first time I played I saw Gordon in the train I just didn't know it WAS Gordon...
Assuming sappost means supposed, then yes he is supposed to be in the train, and that's exactly why it's an EE. If they didn't program him in there that would be some obscure weird glitch, not an Easter Egg.
@Zeldarulah Thank god I thought I was the only one who thought that water hazard was rubbish and every thing after ravenholm as well.
The voice actor is credited as "Gman" in the credits as is the model for gman.
I took the liberty of removing you of your weapons, most of them were government property after all AS for your suit, I think you've earned it.
The "strange picture" is actually a picture of one of the half life devs with eggs for eyes.
the last one i love
Something secret steers us all
That last Easter is when some Saibots appear right? then youre knocked out and trown into some Closing Room walls
hey guys do you see what gina is draging, its the stone we must put in the teleprt in normal half life 1
valve sure had fun making half life!
Half Life, Blue Shift, and Opposing Forces were all supposed to take place at the same time. As far as when it came out, no. Blue Shift was the third released in the series, and the last of the original Half Lifes.
I'm not sure, the place I downloaded it from just had them all named "Half Life Song 1" "Half Life Song 2" and so on.
But, I think it plays during the credits of the original Half Life.
Well, there still technically easter eggs. I mean in HL2 you count all the GMAN spottings as easter eggs, don't you? I'll admit they aren't very hidden, but still to an extent they are.
when you play half life 1 you see a guard knoking a door. tht guard is barney so in blueshift you see gordon when goes right there
No, those aren't easter eggs cause:
1. You can only reach them with noclip.
2. They are simply the texture that they put down for areas taht require loading.
I sometimes worry about the world.
oh that makes more sense now!
One other you missed if I remember correctly. If you stay a little longer after Gordon goes by on the tram at the beggining I think I remember another one coming shortly after that with Gman on it. Otherwise nice video :D
@Halo3yoda Yeah, that was my point.
The alien in the locker was a cut weapon from half life and it reappears in opposing force as well
@a1goldenboy The chumtoad was originally going to be a weapon but it was replaced with Snarks.
