Theres also a reference in dead risng off the record where if you give a crowbar to a survivor named Gordon, he'll say "a red crowbar. This is enough to make anyone feel like a free man"
That's dope! I'll have to check it out at some point.

Good job valve.

yea, it does. why can't Valve just make episode 3 already?

its a remix of HL2's triage at dawn. its known originally as "that long train ride" then after EP2 was released a reuploader called the path of the borealis. theres a suprising amount of remixes of that song.
I did.
Every hand holding a crowbar in every game in this earth will symbolize a legend called *Gordon Freeman*
everytime I see crowbar it always reminds me to HL 😂 IDK what curse Valve put in HL
There is a lot of hl1 references in that game called Black Mesa
I wonder why!
@@velkro1112 ha ha ha
Hmm, I never knew this.
ARGH, STAHP
Because Black mesa is a remake of half life 1 dipshit
The Minecraft achievement/advancement "On A Rail" is a reference to a chapter of the same name in Half Life 1

I have a feeling the Nihilanth bossfight in HL1 is where the fight with the Ender Dragon is based off. At least the part where you have to break the crystals to stop the Nihilanth from regaining health, as the same goes for the dragon.
There is a reference in escape from tarkov. One of the melee weapons is a Freeman crowbar and its description mentions the resonance cascade.
robert deldge Who need RR when you can have the stick that defines physic.
Probably one of the least subtle Easter eggs of all time lol.
I'm doom eternal on the bookshelf there is a book called "prepere for unforseen consequences" and a reference to black Mesa.
The same sentence is said by Gman in Half Life 2 (Episode2 if i remember correctly)
please correct your grammar in this sentence
The title is actually: Mesa Science Monthly: Predicting Unforseen Consequences
@@arthurvarc241 unforseen consequences is mostly known for being the first actual chapter of half-life (apart from black mesa inbound which is just an introduction level). That G-man line in episode 2 already was a reference to that specific chapter title, so i guess that makes it a double reference in doom eternal
Your editing has come on so much its insane. I almost get Guru vibes watching this.

There's one in Payday 2
on the mission Shadow Raid you can find a crowbar in a locker room, it's in an open locker and above the crowbar is the text "Freeman was here"
In the counterfeit heist the tool boxes have the name white mesa on it referencing black mesa research facility.
And theres a Left 4 Dead reference when they tried to rob the Mercy hospital
What a legendary mission title
In Big Bank you can see on the stock list White Mesa and a version of Apature Science
In Murky Station heist, when you go into a vent underground you will see letters HL and the number 3 which is HL3 to Half Life 3 so half life 3 confirmed?
In Plague Inc, there's a news headline that says "Valve Time slower than thought", followed by "Researchers have calculated that it takes longer than expected for radioactive fluids with a half-life of 3 years to pass through valves. Reason unknown".
And in Cities: Skylines, there's also a Chirper tweet that says:
"Reports of trouble at the @black_mesa research facility. #smelltheashes #freemen"
Clever.
Lol, the thought of Gman using social media in that manner is actually hilarious.

Wake up and... smell the *ashes*
not gonna lie, I never expected that Half Life is so iconic even veteran game devs put it in their games such as Id Software and Rockstars
It’s one of the best games ever made, so it’s not that surprising
Fun fact, the co founder of valve used to work at ID i think.
@@toaferson maybe that explained Goldsrc?
Well, it does make sense. Both Half Life's changed FPS games, and games as a whole. And it looks like Alyx is going be a very big deal for getting vr the recognition it needs to become a legitimate platform, if it hasn't already

Theres a Crowbar in Halo 3 on the Multiplayer Level Sandtrap in one of the Caves referencing HL2.
I found it :P
Yeah, that is a half life reference
Also one of the levels in HL2 was called "Sandtraps."
i found a Crowbar in my garage , must be a HL2 reference
@@abdullahyousef3481 However in this case, it is a direct reference, mainly because the crowbar is found in a level that almost shares the same name as a HL2 level, and the developers were interviewed and confirmed their love of Half-Life. Agreed though if you just had a random crowbar, with no other reference to go about, it could just be a crowbar, lol.
That is not an HL2 reference. That is a Half-Life reference in general.

half life 3 is us in real life finding references and seeing the magic happen in other games, magic that gives the story the structure and meaningfulness it deserves. In all universes in gaming, there can only be one crowbar.
5:30 I like how there are dead people (probably from waiting too much) along with the HL3 posters around the store
The top billboard: "... NOW (soon)"
Honestly it's a real treat seeing Half-Life all over the internet again, Valve's games have always been special cultural touchstones. Seeing that reverence still shared with so many after so long is truly amazing, and a testament to the artistic achievements of talented people at Valve over the years...
Gordon went cheeki breeki in the zone in totally different timeline

Crowbars in other games low key reference hl
A game so beloved not only by it's players but also other developers. A game so iconic that every other developing studio tips their hats for every time. A game so timeless that no matter what day or age it is, it still remains relevant. Those are the only three words you need to describe Half Life, beloved, iconic and timeless. Shame that we'll never get to taste it again but maybe, just maybe, our grandchildren will and they would understand what we were talking about all those years. Thank you Valve.
7:04
That's why we DON'T go to ravenholm.
* sees crowbar in a video game * “IS THIS A HALF LIFE REFERENCE??”
Hangover Reviews can you blame em I mean half life made the crowbar a badass weapon instead of a home tool
ChaoticPizza True, I love half life too but not every crowbar in a game is a half life reference lol ;)
@@anthonyliut9810 well, I agree with you as long as there's no another sign like Red painting in the crowbar, no glasses beside them, no words "Gordon" or "Freeman" in the crowbar and its description or another words related to Half-Life
Lots of these "references" can be seen as such because they're
- In a sci-fi / lab setting
- Come with nods to "Freeman"
- Specifically painted with red
- Come with glasses
It's not just because there's a crowbar, but because they actually allude to Half-Life
But even still, it's just so iconic that you can honestly put even a rusty crowbar in any game and you'd probably still think of Half-Life, just because it's a crowbar, and it's in a video game. Half-Life has left such a mark in the video game industry that the crowbar and lambda symbol are basically synonymous with Half-Life.
the most weird one was the metro exodus one with glasses. Like WHOT SORT OF EASTER EGG IS THAT?! THATS JUST GLASSES DAMNIT.
People are seeing half life everywhere lol
There's a reference in Men Of War: Assault Squad 2 where a weapon you can place on the map editor is a crowbar, where it can be picked up and held by infantry. There is also a 'helmet' that can be equipped by infantry that is pretty much a headcrab. And they put it on their heads, of course.
I think this channel is so much better for gaming comparison.
also, your editing is so smooth brother. I love this. keep it up
Thank you! 🙏
Says a lot about the still-fresh wound that was Valve abandoning Half Life. Most of these easter eggs involve HL3 being due to release when the world ended or the game's characters being reduced to nothing but dead corpses.
Someone dies trying to open a crate using a crowbar
Everyone: ah doctor Freeman the right man in the wrong place
Holy Christ! I'm so glad that someone else knew about the Freeman Crowbar in Penumbra Overture! :D
Guessing the crowbar in area 69 in GTA San Andreas will be included in the video.
That would be correct :)
@@oKnightzo Hahahaha pretty awesome man, I always thought that easter egg was quite overlooked by most people so I didn't expect it yo be here, good job!
In Black Ops 3, the description for the Big Jim Crowbar has “The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in combat”
2 of my favorite game series’s coming together! 😀
In Torchlight II you can have a headcrab as your pet
I like the idea that when Gordon was in stasis he actually went to all these different games in between the time of HL1 and HL2
*my only question is how did MARVEL Gordon find out how to control the Resonance Cascade.*
Because that Gordon could talk.
@@RE-45. if only....
In escape from tarkov, there is a crowbar titled the freeman crowbar. In the description it says “Caution! May lead to resonance cascade.”
4:13 Magnusson still wants his Caserole? Lol
Not just any casserole, it was Magnuson's magnificent microwave casserole
6:18 That voice over the PA sounds remarkably like Dr Breen in HL2 too.
Gordon Freeman is truly a legend. When all hope seems lost, the one Freeman will come just in time and save everything.
22 years later and new games are still referencing Half-Life
It's a shame I can only recognize half of this games. They all look amazing.

Duke Nukem Forever....... ''wheres a crowbar when you need one'' said while breaking wood panels off a doorway
Why are so many of em depicting a dead Freeman with his crowbar. As long as he has it he literally can't die
There's a crowbar you can find in the game Unturned. The description says something about being the perfect weapon for warding off crabs.
Dishonered as one of the main villens at the begining say to you "The wrong man in the right place can make all the diffrence", not only that but th tech aspects of the city look very much like the Combine structurs mostly because they were created by the same artist.
Boi did the nostalgia hit me hard when I heard the stalker shadow of Chernobyl main menu music...
Viscera Cleanup has WAY more than just that :D The news crawl in one level is hysterical.
“look gordon a easter egg! this is a way of surprising the player”
Also, in Dota 2. One of the heroes called "Tinker", several of his dialogues references Half Life as well.
Fun Fact: The voice actor of Tinker is also the same voice actor of Dr. Kleiner.
"Pick up that can.... Thats a good boy."
There's one from Escape from Tarkov. There is a crowbar melee weapon with a description saying something like "Can cause a ressinace cascade" or similar.
I spotted a Half-Life reference in the game Black Mesa. At one point, you go to another dimension called "Xen", which was also the name of the borderworld in Half-Life. When you arrive on Xen, there is an animation of you picking up a crowbar.
There are also several references in Garry's Mod. Some of the spawnable NPC's have names of Half-Life characters, such as "kleiner" or "gman". There's also a chance of G-Man appearing on the main menu screen.
There's an often heavily over looked reference in Guild Wars 2. In a mission after deafting an Eye of Zhaitan, you have to reanimate the eye in able to see what it has seen shortly before its death (possibly also a reference to Wild Wild West). The Asura scientist and his assistant run through a start up phase extremely similar to the two scientists in HL1 going through their start up in the test chamber. When they are done, you have to press a button, much like Gordon.
Firstly METRO, and now ADVENT RISING, you finished me there, I miss this game so much. Thank you of remembering this masterpiece :''3
You forgot Half Life: Alyx. That's got a few references
Yeah, maybe just a few.
No, really?
The Borderlands has lots of refferences because Gearbox (Creator of game) Worked toghether with Valve to make HL1 expansions (Decay, Opposing Force, Blue shift) So its used as a memory and a big thanks for working with Valve.
Crowbar as a weapon in any games=half life references..well may be its just a coincidences or a real hl references but no one can deny that crowbar is truly an iconic weapon that is used by the one and only gordon freeman as main weapon. Watching this as hl 1 fan makes me soo proud.. Hl is truly a masterpiece
A very unsubtle one in Escape from Tarkov, where you can rarely find a red crowbar on dead scavengers that's made by the "Freeman Company"
In Left 4 Dead 2, when crawling through vents, Ellis says “I’m so glad I play video games!” or something like that.
There's a reference in Max Payne 1 during "The Deep Six".
5:20 that's not only a reference, but that's also just straight facts
In the game “Kick the Buddy”, If you equip the Crowbar weapon, buddy will turn into Gordon.
5:26 They were wayting too long...
“Pick up that can, that’s a good boy” amazing
The two I expected was San Andreas and Call of Duty
Those were the two I didn’t expect, honestly. Those and Splinter Cell
it only just now hit me that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Half-Life 2 were released in the same year, and not even a month apart from each other
Also in subnautica the propulsion and repulsion canons are designed after the gravity gun
What if all these easter eggs are just bits of Half Life 3 shattered across the multigame dimension
7:25 So... Gordon Freeman has witnessed WW2?
from all these references, we can concluded that Gordon is multi-dimensional
My favorite action rpg - sacred 2004, have this running gag with grave stone inscriptions. One goes "here lies Freeman, killed by a crowbar"
It's even more impressive that the game is also referenced in non-FPS games.
in Star Trek Elite Force 1, shortly after saving the ship from a warp core explosion, Torres warns about causing a resonance cascade
The editing is hella smooth. I'm getting major Kid Guru vibes rn
I think its heavily inspired
Love how in Bl3 they made the rocket launcher is just like the one in half life.
