If nothing else, Cyberverse had possibly the best Transformers ending ever. The war is over, Autobots and Decepticons live together in peace, and Optimus retiring with others taking a leadership role.
Amen, brother.
Cyberverse is basically modern Sunbow- and I mean that in the best way possible.
Large, expansive cast
Weird and wild sci-fi worldbuilding
Mostly episodic storytelling
Easily accessible
Does something fascinating with the Quintessons in Season 3
I have thought this myself, it's not aiming to be a G1 recreation, yet it does feel like the kind of product the original transformers would be if written in the modern day "relatively". Both shows were unabashedly made for a child audience, and to sell products, however that didn't stop these shows from creating good stories and characters when the cards were on the table.
Macadam turning out to be Alchemist Prime has the same energy as in the Stitch tv show where Reuben is revealed to be just as powerful as Stitch (albeit a bit smarter) but just wants to sit around and eat sandwiches
I will forever find it funny that this aired alongside the War for Cybertron trilogy and covered like half the plot of that show in one flashback
I also feel that Cyberverse deserved more love and recognition than it receives…. Wasn’t a believer until I sat down and watched it….and I quickly realized that this show was really a masterpiece of a cartoon…for kids and adult fans alike!!
Finally, some respect for Cyberverse.
It's such a good SHOW
Transformers Cyberverse should've gotten a DVD and Blu-ray Release as a Complete Series Box set when it Ended,The same thing could be said for RID 2015.
as well as Earthspark now, although it didn't go out in the prettiest way.
its really disheartening how much psychial media is ignored these days, nearly every format you can imagine will outlive streaming.
That would be great. Shout! Factory did so many great Transformers DVDs, but they never did Cyberverse. It's never had any DVD releases. Earthspark has.
Season 1 is all over the place. My personal favourite is the Cube Flashback episode where Bumblebee and Windblade first met. It’s a good example of how fun the show can be while doing some worldbuilding.
Season 2 is a lot like G1 in the best ways possible. Just a good time with a big cast and crazy stuff happening every time.
Season 3 is like the writers took season 2, took it to Cybertron, and made random side characters they liked the important ones. The second half goes back to being more like Season 2 of G1 except dialled up to 11.
Season 4 is two 44 minute specials (about an 8 episode season) and is complete chaos. The first special is like the second half of season 3 with world ending chaos, while the second is more like season 3’s opening half where it’s fun but a bit dark at the same time.
Cyberverse has a whole lot of new to tv side characters all of which are just a great time to watch. It also has objectively the best Soundwave and Hot-rod in the franchise and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
even after His own death, Megatron X end up being the big bad for the Finale in a way
It's my top 3 favorite personally. It's one of the few Transformers media that genuinely respected all characters and source materials. I really wish they'd have did season 5 with Unicron as planned before being canceled.
I think the show had the perfect ending. And it's also a top 3 Transformers show for me as well. Only beaten by Animated and Beast Wars.
I love Unicron, but I don't need him in every show and comic. In my opinion it's good to have a story without him once in a while so he feels more impactful the next time he does return.
This show got me into the franchise. It got a real ending that genuinely made me cry. It has by far the best versions of Soundwave and Hot Rod, as well great reinventions of Grimlock and other characters. It also has great incarnations of Starscream, Megatron, Dead End, Shockwave, and Optimus. Optimus feels like a mix of G1 and Animated, and I love seeing Scream's descent into madness. Season 1 isn't that good, but seasons 2-4 are amazing. I got to meet the voices of Hot Rod and Windblade at TF Con. Really nice people.
I also like the concepts the show explores. Shadowstriker is great. I also love how the war has been going on for so long, the Bots and Cons are just used to it. It's all they know. Once people like Megatron and Starscream are gone, the Bots and Cons are able to reunite. The series' head writer said he googled lists of weirdest Transformers and put them in the show. That's why Repugnus and Rack n' Ruin are here.
Surprised that there was no mention of Shadowstriker here. Her arc about accepting and adapting to her disabilities was great, and she was even the first character from the series to get a new Legacy toy.
And the toy was horrible
@@Girlandsilly Her having bad toy doesn't ruin her character arc in show.
@@Mecha82it’s not even a bad figure. As Shadowstriker, it’s better, as compared to Side Burn.
Cyberverse is greatly underrated, this show is worthy to be in the top 5 for Transformers shows and Soundwave’s sacrifice hits, Hammerbyte and Wild Wheel are interesting characters to have and I wish they would get proper transforming designs.
Hammerbyte, Thunderhowl, Wildwheel, Maccadam, and so many more breakout characters in this series.
The one thing that Cyberverse does that other series hardly ever do is focus on both factions before and after the war. It's always "Autobots" and "Decepticons" or any other specific faction. Rarely do you ever see them being "Cybertronians".
The hot rod arc, season two’s massive armies and war arcs, all the fun reimagining of characters like grimlock, arcee, sound wave, tarn, and so many others. It was a great show with lots of amazing stories.
The Starscream arc is what sold me on this being a great show. This series got me into the franchise. Cyberverse Starscream isn't the most original, but the execution is perfect.
@@bowserbreaker2515can you remind me what happened
@ Megatron decides to finally kill Starscream, but he looks kind of disappointed that he has to. But Starscream survives, and he steals the Allspark. Then the Bots and Cons team-up to fight him.
this franchise can disappoint in several different ways every once and a while, but I doubt there will ever be a Transformers series where Soundwave isn't the GOAT
When I first heard that initial premise, I was sceptical. Tried it out, but it took me to the episode with the Megatron flashbacks in season 1 to be completely on board. The show only got better and better as it went in my opinion.
This show really was amazing. Great characters, great story, pacing, and humor. I loved the Quintesson being a "Soundwave collector" and Cheetor, Bumblebee, and Hot Rod teaming up was so fun!
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Tarn. I can’t believe that they put one of the most deadly Decepticons in a kids show
The fact that we haven’t gotten an 86 Perceptor with a Cyberverse head boggles my mind
Transformers cyberverse is something that I love to come out of my heart. If any chance season 5 willing to make more episodes the future of cyberverse of autobots and decepticons.
My favorite line from Cyberverse soundwave is “soundwave superior, Soundwaves inferior.” Of course talking about his clones/repaints.
I headcanon that Clobber is Lugnunt's Sister who he literally dragged with him to join the Decepticons.
Other things I liked that you didn't mention
-Gentleman Adventurer Grimlock. It shouldn't work but it does.
-The new Titans, especially Iaconus, though Croatan is neat too, and Dweller in the Depths is creepy.
-Tarn making his animated debut, being very different, but still very much the Decepticon of Decepticons. Also any time Tarn dies from now on must be at the hands of a 84 Decepticon.
-Perceptor walking off crippling injuries and always being the bot.
-Bludgeon making being the character that they couldn't afford a voice actor for work.
Cyberverse Grimlock might be my favorite. He still acts traditionally in dino mode, but in robot mode he's a refined, nice, adventurer guy. It's funny and unique.
@@bowserbreaker2515 Not to mention his friendship with Arcee. Especially the episode when they are the only two functional bots on the Ark.
@@brettwood1351 I love those space episodes. Like the one with the party. A great episode for Optimus.
@@bowserbreaker2515 They decided to take the dry serious Optimus Prime and just make jokes with it.
@@brettwood1351 You didn't like it?
Thanks for this. I'm definitely going to check this series out now :)
I think the fact that this show has possibly the highest named character death in the entire history of transformers is also impressive
Usually I always tend to hate the Quintessons whenever they're inserted in any Transformers media, G1 included. However, Cyberverse is one of, if not the only case where they actually work.
Also worth pointing out, first animated appearance of Tarn, Cheetor interacting with Bumblebee and Hot Rod, reinvention of Shadow Striker, twist on Drift, and Whirl
To me I found it better watching all of the episodes in a season as a singular movie so it is like 3 movies etc..
Yes, I grew up with the show
I absolutely loved it and had the rack and ruin figure and it was super hard to transform when I was younger. I still have it, but some of the limbs are torn off, but still around I absolutely loved tarn as a villain
hammerbite would be a cool evergreen fusion of Dai Atlas and Sentinel Prime
Cyberverse is definitely a top 3 tf show for me
top 5 for me easy
Same here.
Cyberverse had some wonky voice direction in its first season, but was overall a very fun series that I'd recommend to anyone. It had a nice balance of seriousness and humor, an animation style that was pleasant to look at, and it gave us Alchemist Prime. Not to mention that the characters' smiling faces always put me in a good mood.
Now that they have those pairs of combining transformers with the interlocking heads, maybe Lugnut and Clobber will combine into a single vehicle.
I'm not really all that interested in Cyberverse, I'm just here leaving a comment to support TJ's channel because supposedly YT comments help with engagement. Big fan of the channel! Keep up the good work TJ
22:04 That's the main reason why I skipped Cyberverse.
If you're going to make a Transformers show that takes place on modern day Earth, I think human characters aren't a dismissable option. *They are mandatory.*
They could've gone the unique way of making the main human cast an additional squad of villains, along the lines of Silas from TFP and Dr Maridian from Earthspark.
Make them an illegal military squadron based on capturing and killing Autobots and Decepticons alike, so their remains could be experimented on to develop new weapons that wouldn't just force the Bots and Cons into leaving Earth, but even take over the planet for themselves.
As blasphemous as it sounds, *even the Prime Wars cartoon by Machinima was a little better about human exclusion, as it never took place on Earth.*
It's rare that I enjoy a post-war Transformers series...as in this is the only one. It made good threats post-war and felt like the Cybertronian race learning how to put aside their differences and making me like practically everyone. Even the "Bumblebee loses his voice" aspect that I'm sick and tired of had a good twist with Windblade trying to restore Bee's memories, where he was allowed to talk normally. I was surprised how much I ended up really enjoying this series and I'm glad I stuck with it after the first few episodes.
Pity Cartoon Network buried this show and never really promoted it properly. More people should have seen it.
I'll admit I slept on Cyberverse when it debuted, and in a way I'm glad about it 'cause it meant I got to binge it all quite quickly somwhere between season 3's end and season 4's start.
thanks, tj, since I do have the time I will give this show a chance
Cyberverse would have been a thousand times better if it was actually 30 minutes long tbh as is, a lot of characters are underdeveloped by what the show is and there are some odd stuff that happens every so often even with the competent writing
Blurr's death, the seeker's deaths, Prowl's death and his lack of relevance or character, Drift/Deadlock were all oddly written to me
Prowl's death is interesting as he gets shot in the exact same place as the 86 movie. But yeah, they needed more time to develop his relationship with Shadow Striker. Or Prowl in general.
Mae Cat has said in interviews that there were various characters & concepts that the showrunners wanted to include, yet didn't happen.
Most significantly, they wanted to do some form of multiversal crossover with other Transformers shows.
I know that Ask Vector Prime's Tumblr page would provide more insight regarding many Cyberverse characters and the continuity they inhabit (including a designed name).
@@robrice7246 The Tumblr page isn't official. It's run by TFWiki editors
I loved Cyberverse! The last 2 seasons were excellent
Trypticon had some personality in the War For Cybertron game
15:39 I wish I was a transformers fan back when the cyberverse deluxes were being released, cuz I really like macadam, but for whatever reason he’s a buildafigure, making it impossible for me to get him without dealing with scalpers
TBH i LOVE Cyberverse the SHOW was Awesome it was a bit slow to start but.....by the 2nd or 3rd season IT WAS AMAZING!!!!! the ONLY issue...was the Toy line ...IT SUCKED the worst iv seen even RID 2015 is better. Also the Did not Do Any of the GREAT Designs Justice too so yeah i PRAY 3rd party companies tackle cyberverse and do those GORGEOUS DESIGNS JUSTICE!!!
Someone's doing a set of combining Dinobots, though based on the earlier designs which were based on some from Prime Comics from what I understand.
Hammerbyte and his whole episode was really fun. Litteral transformers cthulhu! fog ocean?? that episode was really fun.
Cyberverse did much better with 11 minutes than Rescue Bots Academy. For RBA I watched the first four episodes (or alternately, I watched the first episode, where Hot Shot learns the importance of teamwork, four times).
a whole video glazing Cyberverse, with no mention at all of Shadow Stiker?
16:51 im confused, they didnt show his alt mode just like a shadow
That iteration of Trypticon sort of sounds like Megastorm from Beast Wars 2.
I didn't watch much, the Quintesson arc mostly.
Nightrod looked cool.
The first 2 seasons sucked, but the last 2 were genuinely really good, and all the toys except the deluxes sucked mostly, everything else like the last 2 seasons is perfect
Honestly, I just had nowhere to watch it. It wasn't until I saw this was on Roku TV then actually started binging it! I actually really like the last two episodes! I was glad to see soundwave and a very hilarious Trypticon! ❤️
Maybe I should give Cyberverse another go some time.
I enjoyed the first season enough. It's probably a perfect way to get your kid into transformers. It introduces the universe and the main concepts very nicely.
I liked the second season quite a lot. The space travels gave me a lot of Lost Light/Star Trek vibes.
But when the third season rolled out and the beginning multy-parter dropped on youtube, I was so disengaged, I genuenly couldn't remember a single thing about what I just watched after I finished watching it. Dropped the show then and there. Right before the good stuff, apparently.
The Quintesson Arc is very much the best part of the show. Hilariously the CN airings added the Bumblebee Adventurs subtitle, right as Bumblbee got benched for an extended period.
Honestly, CYBERVERSE was pretty fun to watch, and I had no issue with it. Same with RID 2015.
The only REAL TF Show I had issues with was the NETFLIX TRILOGY, Though I do like the toys that came of it.
I think the art style was a big hurdle for some to adapt to but the story made it worth the watch
Cyberverse had some cool ideas but was scuffed by the format
Also Astrotrain was huge and i need that as a Commander/Titan figure
From which episode is that image of the Autobots all toasting together??? I NEED IT!!!!!
Also, somehow, this show made a child-friendly version of freaking Tarn.
Not crew!
I just finished this and was impressed. Love the character designs & I grew up with G1! I've actually gone on to TFRID since I dismissed that one as well. I did like the Hot Rod development and was pleasantly surprised with Clobber...I would actually like a figure of her. I could see these being great 3rd party figures as they had a lot of characters that need figures! Soundwave superior!
"This" meaning cyberverse. This video is good too! Also, I liked how Soundwave got Laserbeak! Trypticon in cyberverse would be a good figure. Seems like the figures would be easy for a 3rd party or whatever legacy type line they go to next.
that first season was a slog because it was all flashbacks from the PoV of a 100% completely mute Bumblebee gormlessly watching the equivalent of home movies. All the while Windblade is actually advancing the plot. While later seasons did get better, this show was the final nail in the coffin for why I'm just sick of Bumblebee
Why don't we talk about Megatron X from the Metal game?
Season 1 was a lot of company direction and interference. Season 2 on is them doing what they want and going wiiiiiild. Unironically top 5 show for me
I prefer season 3 of cyberverse to beast wars tbh😅
Cyberverse isn’t my kind of taste, the animation is cheap and repetitive, character designs are off in terms of proportions, there are less fights in the show and when they’re there the characters fight a bit and stopped for a conversation while in the middle of a battlefield, characterization and voice acting is one note and annoying, and finally it has way too many characters to actually get to know and it plays way too safe and childish to the point that in some cases, there are dialogues which features mentions of dead, die, and kill, were completely censored by things like gone or offline.
I watched it for a while but I lost track at one point and lost interest
