The soviets loved the cannon, the eastern front was generally lower speeds an altitudes which suited the p39. Sturdy good low speed fighter with a cannon.
My thoughts would be gun arrangement it had, the 4 x 30 calibre and 2 x .50 calibre more than enough for fighter/bomber engagement and apparently Russia rarely used it as ground attacker considering the 37mm it had was only every supplied with HE rounds more effective to use against aircraft, later versions had wing guns removed increasing its roll rate
My dislike of the P-39 was the shaft to the prop. If you are in a battle and slam on the throttle, the shaft will break. This leaves you a sitting duck in a battle and you need to quickly find a field to land in.
Aye it is particularly prone to that, though slamming the throttle open isn't good for any piston engine (IL-2 is a bit artificially forgiving in this regard).
not really that tremendously mysterious at all actually. an exaggerated over~theatrical synopsis & no they're not that indistinguishable, one's green the other gray.
Subscribed and rang the bell too, great video looking forward to the series.
Looking forward to the series. P-39 is not my favourite A/C either, but let us see what becomes of this endeavour.

Aye, the armament is pretty good.
Nice flying!
hey were you playing on VR, or can you play without VR. I ask because on steam it says VR only
IL-2 Great Battles doesn't require VR, and I'm not using it here.
