+Sision Starbrow Not a large enough fanbase, ergo not enough people would watch the video, ergo, not enough advertising dollars to be worth spending time on. Would be pretty cool though.
Super intelligent, great articulation, funny on-the-spot-jokes. I so love your show. I really hope it gets noticed and shoots you in the career of showbiz.
Saw this on Steam and at the time Demo wasnt up. I really like your WTF series, more people should do videos like this, since its hard to see if a game is good without a demo, or a demo not released when the game is. (more like, developers should release more demos.). Keep up the good work.
Just got this game today, it'll last a few hours at most. The problem is there isn't any building or unit progression. You simply build an outpost, lvl up some warriors, then shoot them off when enemies appear. That's about all the game has to offer considering the water / lava is extremely simple to control when you have money.
TB certainly does not have time to learn how to play DF for long enough to make a video. Also this game is like DF for babies. Although it seems to simulate the idiocy of the Urists fo a T.
Hey TB once my base totally flooded with water so I walled it in and dynamited the interior so no digger dwarves could get out. I then began an outpost civilisation with my 3 level 8 diggers who survived the Lava and Water flood of 30:02. I love this game. You should probably do a few more videos of this (Base defend and Dark mode??) showcasing the other modes. Doing well as always TB! looking forward to some more. Just wished once or twice you used Rule Britannia as your opening.Would be funny!
Sounds like he's dying a little inside when singing the Diggy Hole song. Can just imagine Simon behind him holding onto a lead shouting "Revenge!". But in all seriousness TB, you are awesome and a brilliant entertainer ^.^
Versus mode: Each Player has their own board. You can fire Warriors onto their boards. dig 'invasion' tunnels. Use powers to start random Floods of Water or Lava. Winner = most score at the end of the time limit. or who ever doesn't die first
@drago433 It's from Lord of the Rings. There is a scene where they are in a mine and the bridge is collapsing and the elf suggests he throws the dwarf over and he reponds with "NOBODY TOSSES A DWARF!"
I played the demo, and the arrows work if you plot a path for your dwarf [basically, the arrow starts a path and you hold down the button to extend the path (of course, the longer the path, the more it'd cost)].
I love how he says "if your diggers decide to be stupid again" and 5 seconds later, he notices that's exactly what one of the digges have decided to be.
Brilliant sir!! I laughed loud and hard at yourintro....... of course it sounded rather similar to another of our favorite dwarf. Honeydew anybody??? Anyhow, love your videoTB!!
The game reminds me a bit of "Dungeon Keeper" series: Digging gunderground, exploring caves, getting annoyed when the minions don't want to do what you want them to do etc. Looks interesting tbh, maybe I'll try it out. :)
@millee95 The song is "Total Biscuit Ballad" I have the video (with Itunes link) in my favorites. The guy who made it is a total badass. You should sub him.
thumbs up if you googled "the corrs irish pop band" when he said it at 15:32. I never heard of them but after I looked them up I liked them a lot. Thanks TotalHalibut for making that reference :)
@PutteCantShuffle Right click on Computer, select properties, select advanced system settings, click on the settings button in the performance box, click on the tab that says data execution prevention, click add at the bottom then find your dwarfs?! .exe file (or the one on your desktop) then click open, then apply at the bottom. That fixed it for me.
This looks really cool, but I don't think I could handle how randomly the dwarves move... if I could actually control them, it'd be fun though. You should actually do more videos of this though... this is probably the first WTF is? that I've really wanted to see more of... other than Mount & Blade of course.
I just noticed that RUclips commercials never twitch when I switch to full-screen. It makes sense to me, but it's still funny that the adverts have that high quality in comparison to the RUclips videos themselves. ^.^
@Boba339 Depends whether you're referring to the Snow White variety or the archetypical-fantasy-game-variety... So, apparently the dwarfs in this game are the Snow White kind. Yet they dig...
@1UpCactus he seems to not be. and i don't actually recall hearing tb sayin' it allthough i could be wrong. ps: don't know which comment you were refering to. if it was to the question "is this game based on minecraft" then ignore the last part (the "and i don't actually recall etc.)
Minecraft is actually a pretty decent game. Controls are easy to work with, so much mod capability, and the concept is really nice. For a good time sink the game works well. I don't see why a person who likes the game a lot can only be 12 years old. I'm twenty for cripes sake and I still play.
I think multiplayer could work if you had 2 people with 2 separate bases and you can build sabotage dwarves in their base to control and dig out lava etc.
Oh by the way, "Dwarfs" is the correct term for plural dwarf, so is elfs, but in The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien changed this to Dwarves and Elves, and the book, after inspiring so many MMOs and fantasy games, changed the everyday usage of these words, both of which are accepted as correct, although Dwarfs and Elfs is the official correct spelling.
@cooldude15k no, tolkien came up with that plural for his imaginary culture. also "elves" and "elven" instead of the older english words "elfs" and "elfin" respectively. in fact, in the first edition of LOTR, the editors replaced all his "elven"s and "dwarves"s with "elfin" and "dwarfs", much to tolkien's dismay, inducing him to publish the "standard" second edition where his made up words were left intact.
I play lots of dwarf fortress. I'm also terrified by it.
SIR, YOU HAVE THE BEST AND MOST DRAMATIC VOICE I HAVE EVER HEARD AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY thank you... for digging a hole today.
speaking of Dwarf fortress can you do a WTF is dwarf fortress
+Sision Starbrow
Not a large enough fanbase, ergo not enough people would watch the video, ergo, not enough advertising dollars to be worth spending time on.
Would be pretty cool though.
Not anymore. Rip tb
"Yes, I know what Dwarf Fortress is, and it frightens me."
I can get behind this.
damn it i miss this guy..at least he lives on in his videos..
I would rather play dwarf fortress truthfully
Just played this game 3 hours straight. It's addictive as hell!
You're going to awaken The Nameless Fear in Moria you son-of-a-bitch; you're going to unleash Durin's Bane!
His voice changed over the years :D
Different mic...
***** The mic is certainly part of it, but it's hard not to notice the difference in the actual tone of his voice
Super intelligent, great articulation, funny on-the-spot-jokes. I so love your show. I really hope it gets noticed and shoots you in the career of showbiz.
oh totalbiscuit, you are so deliciously evil

That was the single best Intro ever. His voice. Just saying those words. Damn.
"The dwarves always dig to greedily and too deep."
AWW YEAH LORD OF THE RINGS FTW
this is my 1st video what i watch from TotalHalibut and i like him soooooooooooo much.I liked,Fav,and subscribed.Really good youtuber you are :)
TB certainly does not have time to learn how to play DF for long enough to make a video.

You know what, TB? These are awesome.
I saw this game in store yesterday and wanted to know more, but forgot about it.
Watching right now, ty =)
this guy gives me the impression that he would be a lot of fun to play with and to generally hang out with

Bought this game after watching the video, and enjoying every second of it. Thank you TB for bringing this game to everyone's attention.
Thank you very much for actually taking the time to learn the game. You can not believe how... funny... Simon was.
Love how the transcribe audio works perfectly for TB
Sounds like he's dying a little inside when singing the Diggy Hole song. Can just imagine Simon behind him holding onto a lead shouting "Revenge!". But in all seriousness TB, you are awesome and a brilliant entertainer ^.^

@miauw62 Yes, the term 'Overseer' was coined by Fallout, now it is only ever used as a Fallout reference, nothing more.
I love how he says "if your diggers decide to be stupid again" and 5 seconds later, he notices that's exactly what one of the digges have decided to be.
YYYYESSSS!!!! YOU ARE SO BADASS TB I LOVE YOU
When he said "insufferable buffoon" I just couldn't help but burst into fits of laughter
Haha love it, diggie diggie hole in a dramatic reading.
also, more dratamitc reading would be appreciated :)
Guy ranked #2 at 1:43 is definitely Mexican. Video upvoted.
Brilliant sir!! I laughed loud and hard at yourintro....... of course it sounded rather similar to another of our favorite dwarf. Honeydew anybody??? Anyhow, love your videoTB!!

I had to immediately like this video once I heard your opening sentence, TB. There was no helping it, it had to be done.
Hmm... I'd actually like to see him play more of this. It was quite fun to watch!
This was hilarious! :D Also you convinced me to get this game.
@Kiwsel his name is total biscuit , his youtube channel is totalhalibut . the site that blue plz is on is cynical brit
@millee95 The song is "Total Biscuit Ballad" I have the video (with Itunes link) in my favorites. The guy who made it is a total badass. You should sub him.

I just saw Simon playing this, the perfect game for a Dwarf like him.
No joke that was probably the best diggy diggy hole remix I ever heard.
Amazing intro. Also, I raged at the fact that that little bit he dug out to the North-East had heaps of gold right next to it that he didn't notice!
@PutteCantShuffle

There will be steam. It does not actually create any "blocks" and does not really influence the flowing behaviour of the water/lava.
Lol I love that you did word for word by Simon
"You insufferable buffoon" really needs to be used more often.
@Darmorgaut because dwarves are from Danish/netherland mythology and the Vikings came from here so they put on it.
This looks like a lot of fun, thanks TB!
YOU CANNOT STOP THE DIGGING! Can you feel it! Its digging your mind!
Gotta love the spoken word verison of the diggy hole song as an opening :P
This looks really cool, but I don't think I could handle how randomly the dwarves move... if I could actually control them, it'd be fun though.
You should actually do more videos of this though... this is probably the first WTF is? that I've really wanted to see more of... other than Mount & Blade of course.
I could listen to him play this game all day.
Rip, 5/2022, Still missed
I just noticed that RUclips commercials never twitch when I switch to full-screen. It makes sense to me, but it's still funny that the adverts have that high quality in comparison to the RUclips videos themselves. ^.^
HAHAHA, Love the intro. Top stuff man.
5:50 i actually pointed at my screen out of panic to try and direct your attention to the dwarf
i think thats why simon is a dwarf and simon is a space guy. space guys have alot of knowledge and don't normally fail.
@Boba339 Depends whether you're referring to the Snow White variety or the archetypical-fantasy-game-variety...
So, apparently the dwarfs in this game are the Snow White kind. Yet they dig...

As soon as you said you were mining minerals, I thought to myself, "we require more vespene gas!"
also, I can see a Vs. mode wherein two players occupy the same double-sized mine and compete for score.
Protip: You can remove arrows, walls, dynamite etc with the middle mouse button. (I don't think this is mentioned anywhere in the game)
4:18 lmao best part of the entire video XD "Nooo NOOO"
Omg, you sooo should have done this one as a special wtf with the ultimate dwarf lover!! SIMON where are thou!
i like how u changed the titles to the actual name :)
I only downloaded this game to get the "Dwarfs?! Axe" in Killing floor.
the best bit off the game is the dancing dwarf on the score screen
haha i laughed my ass off when he put the wall to stop the water from coming and then the dwarf instantly came and tried to mine it away xD 4:06
I love his commentary when sending a dwarf to his death.
@Pistonrager No the game is called Dwarfs, don't try t correct someone if you don't know what you mean.
@Kiwsel He is A cynical brit and his homepage is called cynical brit. His youtubename is totalhalibut and a halibut is a biscuit so there ya go.
XD
I love it. Saw the one Simon did and now I see this one? Love it! XD
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TB, have a great day :)

You defiantly are the mad sacrifice king of biscuit.
I think multiplayer could work if you had 2 people with 2 separate bases and you can build sabotage dwarves in their base to control and dig out lava etc.
5:38 Don't fear the game embrace it and let your inner dwarf out, DF!!!
Why does this remind me of Dwarf Fortress so much? It looks like it, but very, very casual version of it.
@Nyuugen Yes. But the names of the game is Dwarfs?!.... so yeah. It's just the game.
I didn't think I would watch the whole video... Where does time go when watching TotalBiscuit?
I love this guys voice... its awesome
currently it's on the humble bundle in case somebody still wants to get this game for cheap
cheap as in 25 pennies :)
@RadiantCard We know it suppose to be spelled Dwarves but they want it to spell Dwarfs :P
Just got this game, and looking for what it was about, it makes me happy to see TotalBiscuit made a video on it.
@HDdeiu Main issue though is that it isn't a review rather than a first impression. And you can't really rate first impressions properly imo.
Dont care about the game, but the commentary is absolute gold!
@connorkw Nope,they uploaded it 2 days ago mate,March the 4th.
@maxiesnax Oh I haven't heard a JJ5x5 reference for minecraft in a while! They made me put a smile on my face
I think thats a balrog in the backof the cave at the title screen. the glowing eyes.
I just love TB's posh cursing "Insuferable Bafoon" ROFL
oh! i know something for multiplayer: 2 teams/bases, and 1 goal in the middle, first one to get there (except if someone completely dies) wins! =D
The Yogscast did an interview on this, I believe that Simon (Honeydew) voiced part of this game.
I love how all the highest rated comments are about Simon. Who am I kidding, this game was made for him!
It makes a sort of a 'obsidian'-type of block :D
Loved the Simon reference! hahah
