3 things they should do. 1. make the graphics more cartoony but not to the point of ripping off tf2, cause dinosaurs don't match with realistic Nazis and allied soldiers 2. fix the controls 3. fix the bugs
Oh god this video is about to get a ton more views because of the damn sale. Well, I think it's worth it, but them again no one cares because I'm not British!
My gods, I love this game, but this gameplay looks really terrible O_O I'm glad I bought it just recently. Now allies do have A dinosaur ;) and texture quality is better! This looks terrible. And they also added more classes. There's also more players thanks to the fact that it's on sale every other day xD Aaand I myself prefer playing as an ally soldier, becuase they feeling of fighting the nazi dinosaurs is sooo amazing :D but the game still has some bugs which is sad. But nothing game-breaking I think.
this game has changed a lot the controls are better, its free now (probably because of this video), there's like 6 more classes and servers plus loading times have been fixed. p.s. the graphics have improved a bit
2024 RIP my friend. As of Today Dino D-Day: Very Positive (7,890 reviews) I thought i would post how these old games are rated today, 6 years after his passing. Did they do better? Did they die?
@Lordofcookiejars I'm actually not either of those. What is shown in the screenshots do happen, but it looks to me that a few of them were actually taken from the trailer. I agree that's a little messed up, but it may also be stuff that's added later.
??? Who thought that a world war 2 game involving dinosaurs would be a good idea? I can imagine how the producers came on the idea: John: "Ok people, we need a new game!" Bob: "Mmmm, let me think, something with WWII? will that be alright? John: "Yes, good! but there's only one thing, there already are so many WWII games!" Bob: "No problem, we just call it... mmm.... d-day.... umm... I know! Dino D-Day! Just a regular WWII game except that there are lots of dinosaurs!" John: "PERFECT!"
It's a first look, a review is after he's completed it and had some time with it to give it a final summary, this is his first time actually playing it, so it's a first look.
I have never played Dino D-Day, so I have no experience with it beyond this older video - glad they added expansions! I hope it expands their playerbase. 15$ for Primal Carnage, though, is honestly not that much - it could probably got for 20-30$ if they wanted to. The developers are also adding an objective mode - get to the chopper - to the game. I'm not so sure what you mean by 'so much money in terms of graphics' or 'realistic', though...
@BoltroBankai Continuing. The developers are adding more stuff! They are still adding content, such as more classes and as I have heard a singleplayer mode so then it will definitely be worth the money. They will continue to improve things, and the fact that some elements in the game are difficult and different provides a challenge to the game. And I liked the art additions as well as the fact that the human classes are actual characters which is something different.
* After all, the gameplay is the most important thing and all the rest should be built on it. My personal view on Dino D-Day is that it's not so much of a bad game rather than a bad PvP game. It feels like it's not made for PvP at all, especially with the dinosaurs! I know the Halflife 2 mod and that was not bad at all. And that gives me to think; maybe they should have gone for a story mode-based PvE game instead. This could actually work. I'm gonna tell that to the team too.
This game has a learning curve, you need to put some time into some of the classes, mostly the dinosaurs, to really get a feel for them. I think people should start the game as a soldier, as it's very easy to pick up, like the soldier in tf2, where the dinosaurs require quite a bit more, like the spy in tf2. July 29th the T-rex update comes out, giving the allies a Dino, the axis a new, similar dino, a new map for the rex, and some small yet important fixes like overtime that will improve this.
@TotalHalibut Lol it's not a rocket launcher at 3:34. That's a PIAT - Projector Infantry Anti Tank weapon used by the Commonwealth in WW2. The charge is fired like some of the muzzle loaded weapons (a hand-held AT motar of sorts).
@MooffinMan He said on the Dino D Day forums that if the game gets to a respectable level, he will do a second look. IMO the new update did make it respectable.
I love how this kinda shakes up the FPS, but I do wish it was tightened down mechanics honestly. There seems to be a gem available for those who play it.
@Selfsentience I'm pretty sure the point of this is for TB to give his opinion, so it would make sense that most of his points are those of personal preference.
Since they've updated it, I feel it's way better. Special abilities are still iffy and hard to use, but it's definitely fun for a five dollar game. They also added a few classes to the game (and gave the allies a dinosaur). But alas, the allies still suck a lot and never win, I think on the account the allies get super units (t-rexes) and the dinosaur with the artillery on it's back is bullshit overpowered.
There is no problem what so ever with the controls nor the mouse, they work perfectly just like any other source/gold src game. The guns feel amazing to, love it. Other than that, you're right.
I honestly think that this concept would work FAR better as a single player game (or small team like L4D). The awesome dinosaurs people want to see are simply too big to be playable in a multiplayer environment, and by limiting the dinos to one faction, they are basically forcing a melee vs guns match. A campaign mode would also let them show off more of the humorous asides, which people just blindly run by otherwise.
I found that the dinosaurs controls a lot like the aliens from AvP2-wall climbing (I'm saying AvP2 because it offers different alien "classes", unlike AvP1 which had a single type of alien). Not bad, just different. I agree that this is not the best game ever. I think it is fun in short bursts. It is not broken, just inferior to many other games.
What I've found is that the more you connect to a source server the faster it loads, If playing TF2 I would recommend favoriting several servers and playing those most often for optimal load times.
A better dinosaur mod would be a left for dead mod where players wander in a jungle and there are different small dinosaurs (That would be the normal zombies) and then each special infected would be a dinosaur.... like this Hunter = Raptor Smoker = Idk Boomer = Pterodactyl (could scream?) Spitter = Dilophosaurus Charger = Pachycephalosaurus Jockey = Compsognathus Tank = T-Rex now THAT I would pay money for
You're totally right: This game is based soley on its gimmick. And as good as this gimmick is; that's not enough to make a good game. To me, it looks like the developers put about 90% of their work into the artwork and completely forgot about the gameplay! - -° Really, I would go as far as saying the Dino D-Day has the potential to be the new Wolfenstein. But what does that help if this potential isn't brought to use? *
Well the funny thing is its not a finished game, its an indie game using the minecraft production scheme. You pay money for a game that isn't finished and get to play it while its being finished. Simple as that. New stuff is constantly being added and the classes are being balanced. Survival mode is almost out (think killing floor) and of course new classes.
I'm glad you mention the rabbits. They're like the infuriating magazines from Metal Gear. I hope anyone who places magazines in Metal Gear Online gets thrown in a flaming pit of cacti, and, of course, the people who place rabbits deserve the same horrible, excruciating punishment.
@furyunleash22 Nope it's the full version of the game the only thing that is limited is how long you can play it i.e. you can not play past Sunday unless you buy it.
The best dinosaur games still to this date are: every Turok game, Dino Crisis 1 and 2, and Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. That's just my opinion of course.
First of I agree that the price is a bit much for this game and that some of it could use retooling, but i think the concept has potential if they worked at it a little more. Possible gave more types of dino to play on both the allied and axis sides. In fact i just thought of something, possible if they do make a sequel to this, they should maybe have those three dinos on both sides but then have some faction specific dinos.
@SuperKaiser74 There probably will be ;) If I know VALVe, they will probably make a new gamepackage, like the Orange Box, containing Half-life 2: Episode 3/ Half- Life 3, Team Fortress 3 and Left 4 Dead 3, called "We can count to three" :3 Sounds like their style. I do not think that there would be a Portal 3 in that package, since that would take about 3-5 more years until release.
That's kind of the problem with this game: everyone wants to be a dinosaur, because you can be a human in every other game ever. We want to change it up. The problem with that is that the game is sort of designed around dinosaur vs human combat, so there needs to be some humans, but nobody wants to be the humans.
What saddens me about this game is that there was a demo with a singleplayer campaign, it was what caught my interest. Much later, I saw it on steam but then it was a multiplayer only, wich led to me not buying it
If you want a WW2 Source mod, then try Resistance and Liberation, it is even better than Day of Defeat. If you want a Indie game with dinos, then wait for Primal Carnage.
@Resbang i dont know how to compare the genres. its just my personal opinion. apparently also killerfgs' opinion. ive peen playing wow for way too long time and when i compare the fun of it with TF2, and also the price of playing +how much time it takes from your spare time, i'd say tf2 is better.
The game is actually fun to play. I played it for 2 hours non-stop becuz I was having so much fun. Really, you didnt even give a chance to the game. If you got a bit better at it, believe me, you would be having fun with it. I do admit that the occasional T-rex base rape and the 20 mm gun spam is a bit derp, but I never had so much fun playing on a "mod" since I bought Killing Floor. Of course, Im not going to buy it, but I am sure as hell that I had fun playing it with a friend of mine.
These wtf videos were pure quality.....ill miss them greatly...RIP totalbiscuit
Lots of updates since this video.
This game is currently free via PCgamer. 7/2/2014
3 things they should do.
1. make the graphics more cartoony but not to the point of ripping off tf2, cause dinosaurs don't match with realistic Nazis and allied soldiers
2. fix the controls
3. fix the bugs
They have. This video was released two years ago.
I'd like to see you make a game with : BETTER CONTROLS / NO BUGs / CARTOONY GRAPHICS
ArthurLikeMCPVP i hate people like you.
the difference between me and them is they call themselves a game studio, i don't
DinoBoy612 Read Minecrafter's comment again, I think you've got the wrong end of the stick
You forgot the bit about removing the scope in on a sten. Sten guns and precision aiming are pretty much mutually exclusive.
Thanks youtube it's nice seeing a tb video in my recommended in 2020
This was my first multiplayer FPS and is still one of my favorites.
Did you not see the invisible guy walking around there?
why not put dinos on both teams? or insted of playing people with guns why not just dinos with guns?
hmmmmmm
Rest in peace good old friend :'(
Oh god this video is about to get a ton more views because of the damn sale. Well, I think it's worth it, but them again no one cares because I'm not British!
Yes
@@tangyorange6509 Yes.
This was the first Total Biscuit video I ever watched, rip.
My gods, I love this game, but this gameplay looks really terrible O_O I'm glad I bought it just recently. Now allies do have A dinosaur ;) and texture quality is better! This looks terrible. wow, A person who likes this game and has valid reasons why?
(Finally another person who likes allies more) ;)
"Dinosaurs exist and the Nazis have them!" lmfao
this game has changed a lot the controls are better, its free now (probably because of this video), there's like 6 more classes and servers plus loading times have been fixed. p.s. the graphics have improved a bit
Ah TB, miss your voice.
They've changed a TON in this game. This video no longer is accurate!
This is a mod that should be free...
www.pcgamer.com/2014/07/02/free-steam-key/
lmao this game is hilarious
As always a great vid from TB. But is there any way to get the song in the end of the vid? (the one that plays during the tb troll picture).
Still miss him, what a legend
It is alot better now
Play it again with updates
Why is this "game" even on steam? does this mean that everyone can make even the crappiest mods and earn money?
you havent played it this is from a while ago the game is far better now
BTW TotalBiscuit; it is now 6.99 with allied dinosaurs and a T-rex add-on.
@meeksdoteric Well it's free to play over this weekend so maybe you're suddenly interested now. :)
total biscut ur end song is now my new ring tone XD seriously though u should keep this one its great
@grimreaperxyz It wasn't just made for first impressions, the point of these series (at least what he said) was to get indie companys noticed.
2024 RIP my friend.

Youre Right, Dilophosaurus Is a Charger, There was A Mistake From A HL2 Mod Named Dino D-Day Too But Only In Singleplayer.
@MooffinMan He said on the Dino D Day forums that if the game gets to a respectable level, he will do a second look. IMO the new update did make it respectable.
@Punkking360 thats not the first, it can be spotted around 12:00 lol
What's themusic that plays at the end of the video? It was epic.
The load times are due to the engine not being the most stable in the world.
@TheMacyoo Thats sort of teh whole point with hte entire series. And as TB says multiple times; its a first impression, NOT a rewiew
First thing I thought: This looks like Counterstrike 1.6.
That game came out in 2003.
I wasn't expecting it to be but this game is incredibly addictive.
I love how this kinda shakes up the FPS, but I do wish it was tightened down mechanics honestly. There seems to be a gem available for those who play it.
What was that music in the ending credits, that sounded great! Where's it from? Surely not THIS game...
That Garth Marenghi quote is from the last episode of darkplace, spectacular show
PCgamer.com is doing a 1million key giveaway of this game this week.
might not be one of the best games, but it's one of the very rare games you actually get to play a dinosaur in.
NOOO not the Rabbit, not the Rabbit, put the Rabbit down, NOOO Stop eating the Rabbit ----- *facepalm* I'm crying
if anyone cares: the german inscription on the poster at the beginning basically means "especially you"
@Selfsentience I'm pretty sure the point of this is for TB to give his opinion, so it would make sense that most of his points are those of personal preference.
ah, source games. This brings back memories of making lunch, eating it and having a nap while waiting for CS to load
If anyone is interested , this game is now in the bundle stars atomic indie bundle for only £3.84 along with 7 other games !
Since they've updated it, I feel it's way better. Special abilities are still iffy and hard to use, but it's definitely fun for a five dollar game. Other than that, you're right.
@LawAbidingScout I know but he said it released at 20 and thats pretty expensive for that kind of game.
So long ago...

Holy hell, that's a Garth Marenghi quote at 6:09! Was not expecting that.
my god, I laughed so hard as the gun sounds in the beginning got louder and Louder and LOUDER
MY GOD THAT PICTURE AT THE END WAS BETTER THAN THE WHOLE GODDAMN VIDEO.
I WANT THAT PICTURE DAMMIT. ;_;
Every time he says "this was better than so-and-so, we feel the need to watch that game next. Also, I started this journey from /r/gaming.
A better dinosaur mod would be a left for dead mod where players wander in a jungle and there are different small dinosaurs (That would be the normal zombies) and then each special infected would be a dinosaur.... like this
Hunter = Raptor

now THAT I would pay money for
@Kornifnotthendie Its not valve who made this, its someone else that used the source engine

Not only is it now cheaper, but it's also had a lot of updates (classes, game modes, weapons, levels, etc.) So it's much much better now.
Yeah I saw some people playing it recently and it looked quite improved, maybe Totalbiscuit should have another look at it.
Rip 2022, Still missed.
At 17:50, ghost gun.
There's a mod version, too.
"OM NOM your face is mine!"
Makes me giggle like mad XD

"Keep Calm and Carry on" that made my day!
@furyunleash22 Nope it's the full version of the game the only thing that is limited is how long you can play it i.e. you can not play past Sunday unless you buy it.
7:27 Go through genetic environment, what will we FIND in generic environment, will it be magical will it be magical? :D
loved that part
@steamgamesfan it's still fun as hell; at that point it doesn't matter how it's made as long as the player enjoys it.
It's gotten better, and I believe there are more servers now. But I really don't know.
It's changed since this video...unbelievably. Oh, kovo, you talking about the mod right? Because you can only get this on Steam.
The best dinosaur games still to this date are: every Turok game, Dino Crisis 1 and 2, and Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. That's just my opinion of course.
Its Day of Defeat 2 with dinosaurs. Plus with all the patches and updates its an amazing game.
TB was so distracted by Stalin Vs. Martians that he didn't notice the flying gun passing him.
Garry's Mod takes a long time to load, but I always attribute that to the hundreds of addons I have for it to load.
They since added 5 more dinosaur classes including a t-rex but still only axis have acess to them I think
lol it's free for a little bit so i grabbed it for free but I'm probably not gonna play it anyway
@SuperKaiser74 There probably will be ;)
If I know VALVe, they will probably make a new gamepackage, like the Orange Box, containing Half-life 2: Episode 3/ Half- Life 3, Team Fortress 3 and Left 4 Dead 3, called "We can count to three" :3
Sounds like their style. I do not think that there would be a Portal 3 in that package, since that would take about 3-5 more years until release.
@Bar1no It's free till Sunday.

@giantwalker777 what make this game good is the fun factor. That's the only purpose it serves right now, and it is in fact fun.
What's Alternate Fire (Alt-Fire) is it the second Mouse Button (right)
Does tb get a say in his ads? Since I just watched one for mw3 dlc.
17:49 Anyone else see the floating gun on the left there? This game not only has dinosaurs, it has ghosts!
