Absolutely the most detailed and professional restoration I've ever witnessed. The workmanship is exquisite. But I wish it was done in the color scheme it was when Elvis owned the machine.
Just this beauty ...even if i was not able to do a proper restore ... Would just wash and clean ... Then move her to my living room and just look at her ... Imagine her days of glory... When not a wrinkle marked her perfection ... But who has the means to travel her back in time ... he will be so blessed and rewarded ..! Congrats guys- the clip just starts but we Greek say you are already half way !(Starting is half of everything ) my respect for the hard task you are committed to !
An impeccable restoration, a pleasure to look at how anyone can give a thumb down is beyond me .an absolute work of art and a pleasure to see craftsmen at their craft who are always on the level and square.
The thumbs down are because they replaced about everything on the car. So nothing original there anymore. I'd call it a kit car now. It didn't even have a motor or transmission. Nice work though, but can't call it his car. More like this car is like the car Elvis had.
I couldn't stop at one comment so here is another. I must say again these guys are just marvellous. Seen 100's of restorations but the dedication I saw here has no equal.
As I watched this video, I realized the philosophical dilemma the restorers faced. Either you restore the original to the best possible condition you can achieve, or you recreate the car by replicating all the parts that are damaged beyond what can be perfectly restored. Since this appears to be the Concourse de Elegance, where they want perfection, I guess they went with the latter approach. And since it appears BMW was behind this very expensive project, I guess recapturing the beauty of the original vehicle was the primary goal. I did sort of expect a red car, but seeing that lower door frame shot, I guess the original color was white. What a very beautiful job by a great team of skilled craftsmen. Bravo.
i agree completely, these idiots on here bitching about restoring a car don't seem to understand whats involved and/or accepted, if you replace a door, or skin a door, does that make the car a copy, or if you cut the middle out of a panel and weld a new piece of metal in, is that better than replacing the panel, i try very hard to stay away from the comments when watching all the videos on youtube but for some reason im just drawn to them. one of my personal needle in the eye is these assholes that constantly say patina, why the hell would you leave rust on a car, the rat rod crap, we didn't do that shit in the 40s and 50s, us poor boys made what ever we built or repaired look as best we could with what we had, it doesn't take much money to use wire brushes and steel wool pads and sandpaper and spray cans. most of our cars were just as spotless under neath as on top. to me patina, and rat rod, are different ways of saying lazy.
my full respect to all persons worked in this restoration, i felt amazing in the end of watching, actually it worth all time and it's motivation video for a lot of people.
Hallo. Chapeau. Lebe jetzt in Spanien. Dort ist weniger Rost, sondern mehr Verbeulung ein Thema. 😊
Excellent work. Given the intact state of the vehicle pre-restoration, a complete restore for such group of fully-equipped experts would not be too difficult. The BMW 507 is a rare beauty.
…‘intact state‘…? really…? The chassis had been cut out in the engine section to accomodate a V8-Chevy-engine that never should have been there. I‘d say the chassis was quite a mess.
Father has a few old 35mm still photos of Elvis driving this car in Friedberg Germany in 1958. I said Elvis probably had fun in that car, but father said Elvis looked so sad driving the car alone. But father had it wrong he thought the car was a Mercedes-Benz but comparing the old black and white photos it is odiously this BMW, it was dad’s height of his army life to see Elvis, and talk to Elvis’s father Vernon, and friends Sony and Red. Great to see the video.
What a grand restauration, very professionell. You of course have to do away with the bad pieces and replace them with the same quality pieces as back in -57.
The most quiet restoration i have ever seen ! In USA garages you hear loud voices-shouts etc although they show more detals about chrome work-dashboard-wheels etc than here.
Americans are just generally loud and obtrusive, but are getting somewhat subdued now that they are a third world country. United they are absolutely not.
They did a awesome job of building a completely new body ! It was a Disappointment as they built a completely new car Not sure if I would call it a restoration when they didn't restore it but replaced everything on the outside of the car . You think they could of restored the original body it looked to be in rather good condition! In stead of building a completely new one! It would be fun to take the old body and try to fit it on a modern car frame . I can't imagine The number of hours it took to hammer out a new body! I'm not saying anything to discredit the workman as they are without a doubt totally awesome! But if I had my old 36 Plymouth restoredI would want them to use as many of the original parts as possible.
The registered keeper of BMW 507 "chassis number" 70079 was Elvis Aaron Presley. The fenders don't count so much. Elvis bought the car used in Frankfurt in 1958.
Totally remanufactured and handcrafted to precision perfection. This is not just a restoration - it is an Exaltation of the Marque beyond normal production spec's. Crazy German's.
It's not crazy...I can do things properly or sloppily. We Germans prefer to do things properly. That's why we build the best cars and motorbikes in the past and today and not the Americans or anyone else.

From what I found it the car was painted white because it was white when it first got delivered to Elvis, he later had it painted red.
