This is a work of art and the people working on it are obviously the very best in what they do. The attention to detail and love for beauty is depicted well by the person filming. Thank you for taking the time to document this and share it with the rest of us. Now imagine if you can see this or better yet drive it - wow - what a privilege it would be.

I couldn't stop at one comment so here is another. I must say again these guys are just marvellous. Seen 100's of restorations but the dedication I saw here has no equal.
I am reminded of the old story of the family that owned Abraham Lincoln's original axe. They were showing it to the curator of the Smithsonian telling him how their family had the axe for 150 years and were still using it to this day. The curator noted that it was in excellent condition. They said yes, they took great care of it over the years and only had to replace the handle 4 times and the axe head twice.
Absolutely the most detailed and professional restoration I've ever witnessed. The workmanship is exquisite. But I wish it was done in the color scheme it was when Elvis owned the machine.
isso que é uma verdadeira restauração de carro! a carcaça e o chassis tomaram um tratamento pra retirar toda ferrugem, e uma pintura pra prevenir ferrugem ! Trabalho excepcional Parabéns.

Growing up in San Antonio in a neighborhood near Ft. Sam Houston in the mid 60's, I would often see a black BMW 507 on one of the main thouroughfares near us. My dad and I were really intrigued by it, so one day when he and I were running an errand we found ourselves driving behind it, and decided to follow it home and check it out. Surprisingly it lived in the same neighborhood as us and the proud owner was a Master Sargeant who had brought it back from Germany when he was stationed there. I always thought it was one of the companies most beautiful designs. Very Italian.
That is/was a beautiful old neighborhood. I am fairly new to the area, but have worked out at Ft. Sam a few times, and love the old buildings on base and along New Braunfels Ave and E Grayson.
As I watched this video, I realized the philosophical dilemma the restorers faced. Either you restore the original to the best possible condition you can achieve, or you recreate the car by replicating all the parts that are damaged beyond what can be perfectly restored. Since this appears to be the Concourse de Elegance, where they want perfection, I guess they went with the latter approach. And since it appears BMW was behind this very expensive project, I guess recapturing the beauty of the original vehicle was the primary goal. I did sort of expect a red car, but seeing that lower door frame shot, I guess the original color was white. What a very beautiful job by a great team of skilled craftsmen. Bravo.
i agree completely, these idiots on here bitching about restoring a car don't seem to understand whats involved and/or accepted, if you replace a door, or skin a door, does that make the car a copy, or if you cut the middle out of a panel and weld a new piece of metal in, is that better than replacing the panel, i try very hard to stay away from the comments when watching all the videos on youtube but for some reason im just drawn to them. one of my personal needle in the eye is these assholes that constantly say patina, why the hell would you leave rust on a car, the rat rod crap, we didn't do that shit in the 40s and 50s, us poor boys made what ever we built or repaired look as best we could with what we had, it doesn't take much money to use wire brushes and steel wool pads and sandpaper and spray cans. most of our cars were just as spotless under neath as on top. to me patina, and rat rod, are different ways of saying lazy.
Absolutely amazing to start off with something so bad and turn into not just better than new. But so stunningly beautiful it should be in a art gallery. Incredible. I must admit the sheet metal work was my favourite part. That is skill and talent.
*It takes a lot of skill and experience to transform flat sheets into pieces with so many curves and shapes, this can only be done with good machines and a lot of know-how. My congratulations for the video. Angel*

Improvement Restoration Modification. That is critical, because, every factory always cuts corners in order to save money and make higher profits. Many times factories cut horrifically despicable corners to save money.

an old BMW made new by BMW with all original BMW parts and craftsmen through and through would still be a 507...of course with an added history of Elvis and time....glorious!
Original BMW parts???? The engine is a chevy. They couldn't get the BMW 3.2 that Elvis had put in after he bought the car....used. Every body was reworked by hand and vast parts hand made. Very from BMW parts.
Surprisingly, it was not possible to find the engine that had been installed specially for Elvis. So, instead of the 150 hp 3.2-litre V8 lightweight engine from Bavaria, they used a large-volume engine from Chevrolet.@@crazyheadgarage2599 www.bmw.com/en/automotive-life/bmw507-elvis.html
