Joe I have watched several of your videos and I must say I am so impressed by the quality and your presentation. Your command of the English language is stellar. You present the DJ community in a most positive light. Your videos seem like much thought went in to them. Clear and concise and to the point. I must say I look forward to your videos when Disc Jockey News puts the link to them and although I'm about 3 times older than you, I learn things from your videos. As you get older and you stay with this business I predict you are going to be a mover and shaker in this industry. All the best.
Do you use the Dotz Flood in your larger setup? I think an American Dj UV Bar Plus would be a great addition to your small setup. It would look great with the laser.
I don't know about you but I like to have some quick lights like scanners. I know you already use scanners but you should try Equinox ultra LED scan. They are really good and don't give the room a wash. I have 2 of them and they do the work they do. They work alright with DMX but don't work well panning rather than jumping. And moon flower is an effect that younger people like and they also like lights that move like prosound they do a DMX moonflower scanner
I would recommend the #ADJ #EventBarQ4. For starters, it mounts on a stand very easily. Containing 4 moving heads that can move independently and have a 10W Quad LED in each. Great beam effect and can be programmed to for pin spotting centerpieces or the cake table.
I think that for the 'Future T-Bar" you should put the laser plus even more lasers and a strobe. Also make sure you have fog for the lasers to make it really look sick.
Love all your dj setups!-do you know what the maximum weight is for putting a light on top of the Rcf speakers is? The Chauvet mega-trix light would go well with your setup maybe worth looking at.
Hey! I think you should keep the t-bar, but replace the 2 jelly pops on the outside with inno pocket spots, and the two inside with pocket scan or roll?
I like the idea of the jelly pars but the laser people won't be able to see it because you have centered the par stand with the laptop where you will be standing I like it but either raise it up or move it to one side the lights on top of the speakers is a fantastic idea though
Probably obvious, but how about some aftermarket filters or homemade using simply colored plastic cut outs to cut bright whites down on the bar a bit?! Macgyver-like photographers do this all the time--but make sure whatever you use it is heat-resistant.
Hey Joe! Maybe a stupid question But which bolts are you using for setting lights on top of your speakers? Hope for an answer if you have time! Have a great day buddy :-)
I use a very similar small set up, but with x2 chauvet 4plays under the speakers, and kinta x s on top. if you master slave the 4plays you can get an amassing effect with smoke if you clever you aiming. Do you scan the crowd with your laser? Does it have msp ( motor stop protection?)
Hello and thanks for your useful videos. I was wondering what king of clamps or screws you were using to attach the mushrooms on the top of the actives PA. thank you ;)
running a MacBook air on traktor The latency is pretty good on the software considering it's a smaller version than the MacBook Pro. I use the 2015 model and I have not had one single problem with it. I like the video by the way.
Great video very helpful, I'm here looking for help using a mic, yours sounds crystal clear, I have good friends who tell me they cant make out what I am saying when I use mine, I have a shure Sm58 am aware of the importance of gain settings but have been advised to eat the mic, you don't, is the way you are using the mic on the vid how you would when gigging thanks
Hi Joe, I am considering setting up as a mobile DJ but I don't know what i would need to get going. Do you have any advice? and also advice on getting gigs. Thanks and great video!
it's a starter setup for someone who's just getting into the dj business. But if you want to be a successful dj you need top of the line equipment from speakers to booth and lights. Otherwise you'll never hit 1,000 gigs a night.
Very inspirational. You seem the same age as me in this video too, which gives me some hope that I can do this myself too. Do you still do this full-time?
Awesome Joe 10/10 for tutorial insight to your setup I thought it was practical and aesthetics also good with symetrical layout. I agree the uplights do put out a lot of light which can inhibit dancers. Improvements maybe some black scrims to hide cords dangling down. Liked the video shots and audio on this excellent
Nice Setup and Video! I would personally put the speakers higher so that the horn is around 30 - 60cm higher than the average person. Will boom out over the crowd more and the audience in the front won't get blasted. Sounds better too :)
If i was you i mix small and large set up(large set up you can play with beams and directions)(small set up you can play with colours) = complete set up ;-) also better to work in front of your lights then you see what you do...nice video
i wish i could afford this, im saving up for a decent pair of speakers. maybe the mackie th-12a's. are they any good? i havent really got any money, but want some decent speakers as i think that these are the most important things obviously, ill get lighting afterwards
They are a good mid range pair of DJ speakers. Try and go to a DJ store or trade show so you can listen before you buy and perhaps compare to some other speaker systems. You can't get an idea of sound quality from the specs
the problem is i simply do not have the time, i'll see what i can do though. i've seen a few Dj's use them and reviews and they seem great. i'm thinking of saving for the same rcf's as you since i've watched you for a while and if you're still using them then i assume they're great. whats your opinion on your current speakers? i'm just happy i didnt fall into the trap of all those shitty speakers for like £50 on ebay!
Hey nice setup, I have a similar one. CLS-2, Art 312 MK3 and a LED derby. But I still could´t figure out how you put the adj effects on top of the speakers. I normally put my derby on top of the CLS-2 but putting it on a speaker would look better. So back to my question, did you put your effect on top of the speaker?
On top of the 312a's you will see a small rubber pad near the back, pull it off and you'll find a fly point, which you can attach a standard lighting bolt to, to attach your lights :)
would you write me down your light set up... sorry but im not that good with english... and... how many rms are those speakers?? why dont you use amplifiers and subwoofers intead those ones... thanks....
I like your setup and you seem like a really nice guy in your vids, so I really hate to be a negative nancy, but should that laser really be at eye level?
+strongwilled motɨoɴ desɨg On the newer videos a Canon 70D, on the older videos a Canon 600D. Lenses are mainly the Canon 24-105 F4 L IS and the Sigma 18-35 F1.8 The main thing that makes it look like that is the lighitng! I use two soft boxes and two battery LED lights when filming
I have a question for you; when do you plan on allowing us to see the video of your large setup. I've clicked the link but it links me to a private video.
Yep this rig is mostly sound active. Though I use a foot controller to switch modes on the Jelly Go Par Profile System and soon to be using a UC3 to control the laser
If you're going down the pocket spot route, i'd at least first research the Stairville MH-X20, they offer a higher wattage LED cost considerably less and have the same features (eg seperate colour gobo, etc etc) (try thomann . de )

Thanks for the kind words! I try my best!

Definitely on my list :)
I think that for the 'Future T-Bar" you should put the laser plus even more lasers and a strobe. Also make sure you have fog for the lasers to make it really look sick.
ADJ Tri LED. I use them at my gigs and they are amazing.
Love all your dj setups!-do you know what the maximum weight is for putting a light on top of the Rcf speakers is?
The Chauvet mega-trix light would go well with your setup maybe worth looking at.

you could add a few smoke machines at the top so that the lights shin through the smoke but you will have to spread out the smoke.
Also you Could use 2 of your smart scanners??
Probably obvious, but how about some aftermarket filters or homemade using simply colored plastic cut outs to cut bright whites down on the bar a bit?! Macgyver-like photographers do this all the time--but make sure whatever you use it is heat-resistant.
If you are still looking for another fixture try the chauvet 4play... same idea but an effect light rather than a wash
Hey Joe!
Maybe a stupid question
But which bolts are you using for setting lights on top of your speakers?
Hope for an answer if you have time!
Have a great day buddy :-)
Could you post a link to the site where you purchased the lighting systems from please? Very nice little set up that pal, cheers!

Great set up. What kind of lighting stand do you have it looks really sturdy.
Hi Sir I like your small set up.How would I have that also....simple but it’s awesome!
Would it be possible to list the lights you used here and where to buy them Joe?
Hello and thanks for your useful videos. I was wondering what king of clamps or screws you were using to attach the mushrooms on the top of the actives PA. thank you ;)

You should replace the two jelly pops on the outside with two scanners and put the replaced jelly pops on the wall to create a fan effect
Suggestion: You should move the ADJ Laser away. I have my small laser on a Truss when I go to gigs! P.s I will do a setup video aswell!
Those vertigos are awesome!
Hey mate, great video! Is the pole that you have the lights on the same as the speaker stand, thanks a lot man!
Nice setup and great instructional video.
sup man. great setup. what do you use to setup your center console. what do you use to put your mixer and laptop on? and do you use an amplifier?
great video what type of stand are you using for the laptop
Hi Joe,
I am considering setting up as a mobile DJ but I don't know what i would need to get going. Do you have any advice? and also advice on getting gigs. Thanks and great video!
Agree with 'DJ Fizzy Dizzy' should use a normal t-bar with the two ssc2's =D
it's a starter setup for someone who's just getting into the dj business. But if you want to be a successful dj you need top of the line equipment from speakers to booth and lights. Otherwise you'll never hit 1,000 gigs a night.

I like RCF. Nice set up.
Nice Setup and Video! I would personally put the speakers higher so that the horn is around 30 - 60cm higher than the average person. Will boom out over the crowd more and the audience in the front won't get blasted. Sounds better too :)
I love all of your setups ur my favorite

Awesome setup!
Nice setup 👍👍👍
I am from Peru and I wonder that such are the speakers rcf ? you recommend me ?
i wish i could afford this, im saving up for a decent pair of speakers. maybe the mackie th-12a's. are they any good? i havent really got any money, but want some decent speakers as i think that these are the most important things obviously, ill get lighting afterwards

You forgot the smoke machine that you were clearly using for the aerial effects. I like your videos by the way. Very professional.
chauvet 4play would be a nice replacement for the par cans
Hey nice setup, I have a similar one. CLS-2, Art 312 MK3 and a LED derby. But I still could´t figure out how you put the adj effects on top of the speakers. I normally put my derby on top of the CLS-2 but putting it on a speaker would look better.

hey can you tell me where you download your DJ music from...cheers
did u put the bolt through your speakers to connect the light on
How do you mounts the lights on your speakers? Did you have to drill a whole in the handle of the speaker?
In the speakers they have pre drilled screwed hole that allows you to attach lights.
WeddingDJBusiness They're fly points buddy.
that sucks, mine don't have handles on the top. I have EV 115's
I think the adj richochet 2 of them and adj inno pocket spots
What is required to mount the lights on top of your speakers?
try the IRC chauvete gig bar
I might invest int them American Dj Vertigo Tri Led
Chauvet dj slim par 56 nice dimness very affordable rgb color mixing with power in and out ( iec in Edison out) dmx in and out with master slave
You drilled a hole into the top of the speakers to mounts lights any problems with the sound or vibrations ?
Did you use a sealant, felt etc - Thx
The speaker has the mounting points already built in
Try the event bar.
How do I record a mix for youtube using a camera but still retaining good audio?
Very Informative, much apprechiated
How do you attach the vertigos to the speakers ?? Great video by the way.
why dont u get a sub for the mid-big setup?
Hey bro....Nice Vid...Love watching your videos always very informative. I have a question though....why dont you use scrims and a facade?
those do add a wow factor and a more slick and profedsional look
You mention that Vertigos look great with smoke, so do you use smoke machines in your small setup? Great vids btw...keep up the good work!
If I can use smoke I use a Vivid V1 fogger. Very cheap smoke machine but found I don't need anything more than that
what is the unit called under your macbook?
hi! I want to know how you put the vértigo led over the speakers? please.
for what size venue's is this setup most effective? tx
I like your setup and you seem like a really nice guy in your vids, so I really hate to be a negative nancy, but should that laser really be at eye level?
I always angle the laser up towards the ceiling and use tape to mask the beam. Just didn't do it here as I was working with a very low ceiling
Pls tell me what camera you use and your videos have AMAZING quality!
+strongwilled motɨoɴ desɨg On the newer videos a Canon 70D, on the older videos a Canon 600D. Lenses are mainly the Canon 24-105 F4 L IS and the Sigma 18-35 F1.8

+Joe | JLDJUK Thank you for telling me!
+Joe | JLDJUK dude can you also tell me what software you use to control the lasers and lights (also tri vertigo lights)

Hiya, what controller do you use. Finn
I have a question for you; when do you plan on allowing us to see the video of your large setup. I've clicked the link but it links me to a private video.
The video went live this evening and you can watch it now! Mobile DJ Setup Tour Pt2 | My Large Setup
I'm assuming your lights are sound controlled?
Yep this rig is mostly sound active. Though I use a foot controller to switch modes on the Jelly Go Par Profile System and soon to be using a UC3 to control the laser
Hi,
Do you have a medium set up?
If you're going down the pocket spot route, i'd at least first research the Stairville MH-X20, they offer a higher wattage LED cost considerably less and have the same features (eg seperate colour gobo, etc etc) (try thomann . de )
EDIT: The led wattage is the same on both fixtures
Really good👍
