This is a good video. Same thing happened to me. Luckily, my jeep told me exactly which tire was low. It said LR. Which would be the left rear. I wouldn’t check the pressure in all of my tires and sure enough. The left rear was at 25 and it should be 35 soon as I filled it up and started driving that warning light went off.
Did you drive on that spare to get it to send a signal to the tpms unit? I wonder if it really had a sensor since it never rotates unless you are using it.
Thanks for your reply. Just so everyone can benefit, an Outback I purchased recently had the light on and would not go out. It turned out that even though all four tires were read by holding a reader right next to the tire, the signal of one was not strong enough to reach the tpms unit under the seat and had to be replaced. The dealer I used in Feb of 2017 charges $120 for a "relearn" and $60 for the sensor. I decided to replace two tires that were marginal and the sensor was in one of them so I saved a little there. Since my wife drives the car when I am away on business, I like having the functionality of the tpms for her and not simply blocking the light. Subaru designed the system so that only they have the computer necessary to transfer the ID's from the sensor to the unit. An aftermarket tpms that I installed on a motorcycle had a programming procedure so that no special computers were needed. It involved entering a "learn" mode and rotating the specific tire when prompted. This way the tpms could display pressure AND temperature for each time and tell you which tire was low! Interestingly pressure was displayed corrected for temperature ( a simple formula) so you could fill the tire hot if needed.
halnwheels The spare tire has a sensor just like all the others. Driving at 20mph or above tells the car's computer to check and reset the sensor, whether the actual tires are rotating or not.

Filmtress Mu no he just put air in the spare then put it back in the trunk then drove for 20 minutes, apparently the spare tire has a sensor in it too that the car computor picks up on as to the amount of air inside it.
Hello just wanted to check if the spare tire pressure need to be at the right pressure - as in if the pressure is low on the spare tire ( kept in the car) will it show up on dashboard even if it is not in use.
Donut spare tires don't have tpms sensors so filling up a donut spare AKA temporary spare tire will not make your low tire light go out only full size spare tires will have a tpms sensors , but always a good idea to check and fill up your spare tire a couple of times a year
My highlander 2004 has a FULL spare tire with tpms , I replaced all 4 with new , tpms kept setting off every few miles , stumped return to shop five times then they checked the FULL SPARE in rear ,yup it had ten lbs.
Maybe that is my issue since I had the TPMS checked and reset twice and they have said all tires sensors are working correctly...Still light comes back on after 5 miles driven and stays on...Now how does a spare tire triggers the TPMS?. Now I have to check that tire to see if it will make it go out..I have a 2007 Nissan Frontier crew cab....
If the tire pressure is too high it will go off to how do you change that I went to a heavier tart heavier-duty Tire requires more pressure how you change the high pressure setting
Mine keeps coming back on after it was serviced and sensors check all working ok..I have a 2007 Nissan Frontier crew cab...The spare might be causing it to lit up?...How does a spare have anything to do with the systems?.
Tire pressure lights on when you measured only a few psi low on the tires? You said they light up if more than 25% below recommended pressure. Maybe faulty sensor?
Hi Joel . I am having issues with my 07 Nissan Altima tire pressure light. I hv changed the sensor , guage the tire yet the light persist. But my spare tire doe not hv a sensor. My question is do i still fill it to the required guage even without a sensor in it ? It always went from blinking to solid yellow light.
Well any auto shop or tire center should have a TPMS programmer/tester, after they put the proper amount of air in the tire you go to each tire and hold the tester near the stem and it will clear it or give you a error which means you have a faulty sensor! Actually you don’t need to put air in it first because the tester will tell you that also!
