If all tires show good pressure check to see if you are using a usb charger plugged into the power outlet. Some chargers will interfere with tpms signal and show up as a low tire or check engine light referring to loss of signal from tpms sensors. Nissan are more sensitive to this issue. Unplug USB power adapter and see of code doesn’t disappear in a day or after a few restarts. The cheaper the usb power adapter the higher chance it will give off emf that causes these issues.

Wow, 247,000 miles is not common on a Ford, although I have been able to do it on my 2004 Expedition. Obviously you have done a great job with maintenance. Very well explained video! Thanks.
Thanks for watching and writing! Yes indeed, we invest about $1,000 a year in the car to assure that it's kept in great condition. It's a lot cheaper than payments, interest, new car registration and tax fees and so forth. And we know what we've got, because we've had it since it's had about 5,000 mi on it. Thanks again for writing!
On my 2011 Honda CR-V, a lot of times during the winter my TPMS light comes on usually as the temps drop below 30 degrees. Sometimes it goes off if I am driving a far distance, I assume because the tire warmed up. But the light never comes on in the summer. And it's never because the tires are low. I see this system as a hassle and extra expense. But only because I'm religious about checking the tires once a month so always know when my tires are low. I am sure they are great for people that do not check them or check very rarely.
I don't need a high-line TPMS system to tell me which specific tire is low. The cost of maintaining this type of system farrrrrr outweighs the benefits. The sensors are expensive, need replaced after a few years because of cheap batteries, the labour cost to install, relearn and retrain the sensors is ridiculous. With a low line system I never have to worry about replacing any sensors because there are no dedicated sensors. The low tire pressure light comes on, I take out my tire gauge and check the psi on each tire manually, add air to the offending tire(s) and the warning light disappears immediately - beautiful. Thank god my 2018 Ford Escape is a low-line system. No having to turn the key this way and that way 50 times, wait 200 seconds and repeat, just to get rid of the light, ridiculous lol
just another over priced piece of 99% plastic parts that break and never work right ! if people cant check their tires they shouldn't be driving! drivers ed should be a much longer course that also covers basic maintenance and upkeep to cars and trucks
I missed this one when it was first released. Should have checked my algorithm failure light. Many thanks for the deeper dive into this frustrating situation.
So nice,so easy(to say)I wish you to be in my shoes-5 month old car TPSM light on one wheel disappears intermittently. Two months and 5 visits for service at dealership and no results.Would be so happy to get rid of that crap forever.
I was told it was going to be $80 per tire to turn the sensor off EACH ONE. I guarantee you, I did not buy that... I did get off the phone and laugh. Thank you for the tips! I never would have thought to check the spare.❤
I've done all these things. Toyota couldn't figure out how to get the light off either so they told me it's just broken and will stay on forever unless I get the light itself fixed which could be hundred or more. seems crazy.
2019 Dodge Journey. Light came on saying low pressure this morning because of cold weather. Front driver side tire was at 31 PSI and should be at 36. Went to get oil change, they added air and although it's showing 36 PSI and I drove 8 miles home, light is still on
Hi Jay, just went through this with my 2010 Hyundai. Except there was one more item for your list. Because we had cold weather and snow I didn't want to start up my air compressor so just took the car to our local Les Schwab since our tires are under warranty there. They checked all the air and all about 10 psi low. The TPMS tire icon light on the dash didn't go off so the next day took it back to them thinking maybe the spare tire they didn't check after watching a RUclips video. Well, it was #5 on you new list. The TPMS sensor inside the tire was loose and I guess they screwed it into the tire. Anyway they put it together and the light went off. Best thing no cost and I just sat in there lobby drinking my morning coffee. Cause was maybe hitting pot holes that the county are busy filling is my guess. Tim from "Tims Workshop TJY"

Thanks Jay. Why does Ford tell me to inflate my tires to 35 psi on my 2007 F150, when the tire itself says 80 psi? I remember the issues with the Explorer and Firestone. The Explorer was not stable, and Fords solution was to under-inflate the tires, which caused blowouts.... I run my tires at 50 psi to improve gas mileage, and it handles fine. I don't trust Ford's recommendation. My tire guy says I could go higher. What do you think? My low pressure symbol stays on all the time, even with all tires full.
William, you are not the first one to ask this, and in fact, I had a similar experience. I believe you will find that the pressure on the side of the tire is the "max" pressure, the pressure that that tire has been rated for before tire damage would occur due to overpressure. This isn't the pressure that tire handles best at. If the tires on your vehicle are the same size or very similar to what it was originally outfitted for, then the pressure on the placard on the driver's door jamb is fine to go with. Yes, you can run more if you want, but there are trade-offs. You are creating a less flexible tire, so you will probably get better gas mileage due to less rolling resistance. But, you can diminish handling characteristics (less side-to-side flexibility), as well as braking distance due to the "contact patch" of the tire (the amount of tire tread in contact with the road at any given second) being smaller. As for the TPMS showing a message ongoing, something is off. Three things come to mind: 1.) the sensors have not been put through the "learning" process the last time you had tires installed or rotated, 2.) you have a sensor in one of your tires that are either improperly installed or has a dead battery, or isn't transmitting for some reason, or, 3. your spare is pressured too low and is causing the message. I hope this helps. Get the system checked out, you want to have the TPMS working for you. Best, DFJ
Just got 4 new tires on my Sportage and heading out of town, light started blinking then went solid. Repeats every time I start my car. Pressure is good on all. Took it back to tire place to have it reset and the guy tells me a sensor or battery is out on one tire. It was working perfectly fine before. Is this common?
iachik, indeed, batteries can simply run out of power. It does happen and cause issues in the system. The timing of this going back is suspicious, but not impossible. Is the tire store recommending a replacement sensor or ???? Best, DFJ
@@DirtFarmerJay Amazingly, I took it back again and they admitted the mistake of breaking the sensor, so replaced it. That may be a first. Good ending!
my mazda 2020 cx5, light on , tires checked, only 3yrs old! supposed to reset on drive, no dice, will a relearn tool help? also nothing comes up as a warning on display.
I followed the procedure and light remains on for my toyota 2017. Let the light blink 3 times then ran the car for 20 min as mentioned light remains on so guessing more is needed.
Got 4 new sensors put on. Blinks for a minute at startup into solid. Scan tool picked up all 4, tried 2 different tire shops for relearn, spare was check and has 60 PSI. any other ideas?
Wow, you've got a mystery on your hands. The sensors are transmitting if the scan tool picks them up. Two possibilities come to mind for me - even though it is inflated, the spare has a low-power sensor and it's tripping the dash icon. You didn't mention if the spare does have a sensor and if the scan "saw" it. Check that. Next, if all is in order, it sounds like something is wrong with the TPMS module if it can't "relearn." These are computers, so it's possible it has something in its memory that is taking precedence and won't allow new info to be entered, or it's simply gone bad. Be persistent and let me know what resolution is finally worked out for your situation. Best Regards, DFJ
My TPMS light has been on for a year and a half. HYUNDAI said they can't diagnose it. I replaced all 4 tires and battery, still on! Paid for TPMS replacement on the one tire leaking thru the tpms, 500$ still can't shut the light off!!
Wow, that's not good. That sounds like an engineering defect on Hyundai's part. It sounds like you need another tire equipment advisor/source that will think "creatively" and find the problem. How old is the car?
my dad just put 300.00 in sensors in had them all calibrated and reset tires are filled to proper pressure and light still wont go off ! i hard reset did a bunch of resets pressure is 100% fine and the stupid light wont go out ! i want the stupid dummy tpms dummy light off !!! what wire do i cut ?
At the risk of insulting you, you did check the spare in the vehicle as well, right? Some have sensors in the spare and over time the tire loses pressure and sends a low pressure signal. Let me know. Best, DFJ
Thank you for the information. 👍 However I am a bit confused because in my Kia Picanto car the tire pressure on the door side says one thing, but it says a slightly different pressure in the manual. 🤔 Door says equal pressure front and back. While manual says more air in front than back. 🤔 Last time I did what the manual says, and light went off. But now it's back on and it isn't long ago that I filled the tires. I'm confused why the door and the manual would say different pressure. 🤔 Maybe I should go for what the door says instead of the manual then. I don't know.
Because its likely the tires have been replaced more than once, go with the pressure on the tire sidewalls. Since the tires are likely not the original tires from the factory, use the pressures displayed on your tire's sidewalls. It's possible the battery is low in one of the TPMS units.I think that's likely given that you usually don't see a low pressure indicator unless the tire is 20 to 25% underinflated. Since you recently inflated your tires, it seems unlikely that you'd be losing that much pressure. Hope this helps. DFJ
Yep, they are a trade off. There are many people that don't maintain their tires as they should, and this helps "sound the alarm" with severe underinflation. For those that keep an eyes on things, they can be especially annoying. Best, DFJ
Hello mate my Car 2014 Mercedes Benz E class e300 , keep showing check tire pressure in last 3 months when all my tires are fine and new and all pressure same as each other and correct MY car is Indirect TPMS works with your car’s Antilock Braking Syste thm’s (ABS) wheel speed sensors and Th Hello my friend my Car keep showing check tire pressure in last 3 months when all my tires are fine and new and all pressure same as each and correct pressure Any idea what can I do Or information I'm really appreciate it
Thanks for watching and writing! There are variations of the indirect TPMS system, so they don't all behave or operate the same. Seeing that you have an ongoing issue occurring on this very nice car, you'll have to check a few things that at the outset may not make sense. Even so, the problem exists, and so you'll need to be creative. A few things come to mind: 1. check the spare for correct pressure. It can be transmitting is some way and fouling up things for you. Unlikely, but check anyway. 2. Have you changed out one of the tires lately due to road damage on that one tire? If so, the slight difference in tread circumference with a new tire and 3 others with slight wear can set off the system. 3. What condition are the brake rotors and pads in? If you've got one of the rotors with higher pad pressure than the others, it's possible that that tire is turning ever-so-slightly slower than the others, and the TPMS is "seeing" this as low tire pressure/higher rolling resistance. If these don't solve it or set you in the right track, I'd see if I could finds a Mercedes Benz mechanics forum and see what they are saying to each other about this issue.
I took my car to a tire repair all 5 tires are inflated yet lights refuse to go off. Someone said a cheap phone charger plugged in might be one of the problems, I’ll check that next.
Hi. I had my tires change two months ago, and since then TPMS light turned on for about 4 times now. In each occasion, i checked air pressure and its is right. Tried reset 3 times and drove few minutes but light still there. Whenever i turn off the engine for few minutes, and turn on again, thats the only time the light will turn off. (Only now that i learned to check the spare as well) should i be concerned about the frequent occurrence of TPMS turning on? Thanks.
I think there is something not right in your car's TPMS. You should not have this many "false-positives." I would take your vehicle back to the retailer where you got the tires from and have them check the system. Something is not calibrated correctly, or one of the in-tire sensors is not working properly. It should be very rare you get a tire low indicator. Let me know how this turns out for you! Best, DFJ
All tires are at the correct pressure. The tire light is still on. The tire screen only shows the 2 front tires. The back tires just show a broken line. 2010 Sebring.
Lew, I need a bit more information. Did you conduct a reset drive to have the computer reset with the new pressures. Tell me more about the back tires showing a broken line. What type of line? Data line, air line? Of course, a broken air line would affect the readout on the tire pressures. Let me know and we can go from there. Best, DFJ
Mines 37psi front 35psi lights still on it’s a 2022 brand new car nearly and had that sensor issue plus radiator sensor fans blown and over heated 😅 buy a new car they say my Honda civic 1998 eg was bulletproof
Good insight. Depends on the sensor and the tire. We have been able to get new sensors for quite a bit less than the tires we use, but sounds like you've had a different experience.
dont buy a car with tire pressure monitors cause they all always have the same problems they are junk built with junk plastic parts that last about as long as it takes to get the car off the lot
Yeow - that's irritating! It sounds like one of the sensors have gone bad. My source on these things tell me that they have about a 5 year dependable life. This may warrant a trip to the tire shop to have them run sensor detectors and see if that is the problem. Thanks for writing! Best, DFJ
Wow, sorry to hear. It sounds like the battery on one or more units is dead. They last between 5-10 years typically. It sounds like a trip to your local trusted tire shop is in order. Let me know how it turns out. Best, DFJ
But this is totally WRONG if you don't have the stock tires. If you're not running the stock tires on the car you could ruin them with the incorrect pressure.
Because if you've exhausted all the things that you can do to clear it, then get it taken care of by a professional. But, as the video shows, that's the last resort.
My TPMS warning light recently came on. All tires, including spare are at optimum pressure. Warning light does not go off. Been over a week of driving already. If it's not the truck's receiver, it's one or more of the sensors on the tires. How the heck do you easily troubleshoot that? Got five tires to debug.
This is a tough one, but usually means that one or more of the sensor batteries have worn out. This happens when the sensors are about 5 years or older. Unfortunately, this usually means a trip to tire shop for them to locate what sensors are working and which aren't and replacing the "timed-out" ones. I wish I had better news. Let me know how this turns out for you. Best, DFJ
@@DirtFarmerJay If it's a sensor, possible culprit could be the spare which is original on my 2011 Tacoma. All four tires were replaced few months ago so unless defected, should be okay. Maybe.
Boy all you did was waste my time. I ask how to disable this junk. It has never been correct and the government is not going to tell me what extra junk I must have. If you aren't smart enough to check your tires Out!
Tape won't help when the car comes up for the MOT test ( UK gov vehicle test ).The garage will simply fail the car if the light is on .Stupid as you can have perfect tyres and show the garage that all tyres have correct pressure BUT they will still fail it if the light is on .One more way to make money out of the car driver. I have a small plug in code reader to identify warning light faults.
If all tires show good pressure check to see if you are using a usb charger plugged into the power outlet.
DFJ
I’m I’m I’m I’m going
So,
Is the spare tire connected with the system, Sir?
Thanks
For 40 years of my life I didn't have TPMS, stupid damn things, what an annoyance!
Yep, they are a trade off. There are many people that don't maintain their tires as they should, and this helps "sound the alarm" with severe underinflation. For those that keep an eyes on things, they can be especially annoying. Best, DFJ
Where is the sensor located on the tire the rim ?
It is located at the base of the valve stem just below where the air is put into the tire. I hope that helps!
Hello mate my Car 2014 Mercedes Benz E class e300 , keep showing check tire pressure in last 3 months when all my tires are fine and new and all pressure same as each other and correct

Hello my friend my Car keep showing check tire pressure in last 3 months when all my tires are fine and new and all pressure same as each and correct pressure
Any idea what can I do
Or information I'm really appreciate it
Thanks for watching and writing! There are variations of the indirect TPMS system, so they don't all behave or operate the same. Seeing that you have an ongoing issue occurring on this very nice car, you'll have to check a few things that at the outset may not make sense. Even so, the problem exists, and so you'll need to be creative.
A few things come to mind:
1. check the spare for correct pressure.
Thanks for the video
Our pleasure!
I took my car to a tire repair all 5 tires are inflated yet lights refuse to go off. Someone said a cheap phone charger plugged in might be one of the problems, I’ll check that next.
more junk plastic to break
Best, DFJ
My 2010 Cadillac srx shows pressure in 3 tires and shows -- for one tire
Did you get this resolved?
Wow, what a nuisance! Double check your spare to assure its not the unit sending a signal. As for the fan, ugggggh.
Helpful, thank you
My light comes out when I drive for 20 miles …. So what can it be wrong ???
One says 21.5 the other says 19.5. Which one do you go by?
Wait.. it monitors the spare??
Yes, many systems do. Who knew? Best, DFJ
How do you turn off the light
I dont think that's possible.
Sometimes sensor in tirer broken . Not worth it to fix. U can get new tire for less
Good insight. Depends on the sensor and the tire. We have been able to get new sensors for quite a bit less than the tires we use, but sounds like you've had a different experience.
You know what, sir? I did set the correct manufacturer tire pressure, and still, the tire pressure indicator didn't disappear. Now what?
dont buy a car with tire pressure monitors cause they all always have the same problems they are junk built with junk plastic parts that last about as long as it takes to get the car off the lot
That method has always worked for me, but not this time. That sucker won't go off for anything. Tires all inflated properly. I drive 50 miles a day.
Yeow - that's irritating! It sounds like one of the sensors have gone bad. My source on these things tell me that they have about a 5 year dependable life. This may warrant a trip to the tire shop to have them run sensor detectors and see if that is the problem. Thanks for writing! Best, DFJ
I did the reset button..just had new tires
not on lots of cars will not work
I'm sure that wat wrong with my girlfriend car tho it keep coming back in front on lol tho 😅
None of this worked .. been lit up for a year now lol.
Wow, sorry to hear. It sounds like the battery on one or more units is dead. They last between 5-10 years typically. It sounds like a trip to your local trusted tire shop is in order. Let me know how it turns out. Best, DFJ
God bless all of you and remember God loves you all and so do I may God be with you all. Jesus is coming soon God bless repent
👍
But this is totally WRONG if you don't have the stock tires. If you're not running the stock tires on the car you could ruin them with the incorrect pressure.
Thanks for the insight. We'll see if we can append the video - at the very least in the video description. Best, DFJ
Why even make a video saying take your car to a tire partner
Because if you've exhausted all the things that you can do to clear it, then get it taken care of by a professional. But, as the video shows, that's the last resort.
Or u can disconnect the sensor lol
Bonjour 🇩🇿🌹🇩🇿
None of this fixes my issue.
It's likely one or more of the units has a dead battery. They only last 5 to 10 years. Best, DFJ
@@DirtFarmerJay Turned out to be the
Liftgate Module.
@@RedArrow73 wow, that's one I haven't heard before! Thanks for letting me know.
Maybe.
Doesn't look like a farmer to me.
LOL!
Boy all you did was waste my time. I ask how to disable this junk. It has never been correct and the government is not going to tell me what extra junk I must have. If you aren't smart enough to check your tires Out!
Sounds like we've had the same experience with each other. Thanks for stopping by. - DFJ
Useless, just another way for dealers to get you in to sell you a new engine!! Use a good tire gauge and place a tape over that light.
IronHorseGladiator, thanks for writing. I'm not sure what you mean by your comment about having to buy a new engine. Best, DFJ
Ahahahahahah.
Great video as this just happened to me.
What if the spare tire is missing?
