One of the best studio tours ever. He has the gear, has it all plugged in, knows much about it, takes his time and runs through everything. Just awesome.
I find this video so inspiring. And I like the fact that most of the stuff he plays sounds more like his Franz Falckenhaus productions than Legowelt ones.
"I really like this kind of like Brian Eno "On Land" ambient atmospheres, like, that it sounds like you're in nature, but actually you're not, you're in a studio with lots of nasty radiation and chemical fumes from this nasty synthesizers, it's quite horrible in a way..." So much win in so many words... :D
VIRALITY except Eno didnt use so many on."On Land", its largely tapes, foynd soynds, effects and even some guitars. I love that album, csnt see much of a connection to Legowelt and 90s formulaic techno/chicago house tho
Guy made a name for himself without most of what's in this space. These are nice and I want them all, too. But clearly, his talent shown itself anyway, despite not having all the bells and whistles back then. It'd be a shame for anyone to not explore music production because they believe they need thousands to start off with. I'm sure Wolfers would agree.
I know nothing about synthesizers but I watched this entire video. I've loved his music for about 10 years now. And he is extra sassy here, he even combed his hair. And that sweater is dapper as hell.
He makes me miss my poly 61 I had forgotten all the weird things it did. But yes I always though it sounded very boards of Canada. This was my first ever synth.
And again, the cheapest things in both studios are the chairs :D But absolutely nice two setups.. Amazing how everything he "bleeps" out of those synths sound 110% Legowelt. Yet again, machines do not operate without a human who generates the desired parameters. Nice... Nice... Nice!
I gotta join in on this one. Get your wildest reporter on RDJ’s house and have him do a B&E AND FILM ALL OF HIS GEAR!! Just show us the gear and no one gets hurt man! Ha ha ha!!
Refreshingly good modular sounds. Funnily enough all the latest and greatest module chasers end up sounding quite similar as modern modular is going, ironically, less modular and more towards one module per voice. This gives a lot of modular music quite a slick, preset synth sound.
i found his music yesterday and now i don't know how i lived before it...i cant decide which one is my favorite, all of them are so good..which songs are your favorite ..anyone?
The real gear lust was growing in me with every minute of the video :-) ... and the killer line: "Let's go to the other room, I've got more synthesizers there" !
oldcomforter Yes, sound craft mixer, electribe plus the pedal, amiga, alpha juno, hohner, tascam 4track, akai module, D-50 .. If you take your time you can get the whole list for under 1K
"This is a Roland JD-800. It is a digital synthesizer from 1992.... I bought it from a new age composer and it smelled very much like incense when I bought it." BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAAA!
Nice video, lovely studio, charismatic man. Would have liked to know more about his recording methods. How does he use such small mixers with so many synths? (I don't see any patch bays). Does he record to the reel to reel or to a computer? What does he sequence with now? This is less of a studio tour and more an overview of his (admittedly impressive) synth collection.
Memories ... With a few exceptions, have worked with all of them demonstrating in a music store. (almost) Never used a manual, just dig in ! (when I look at the x000's of pages of manuals with my software today ... sigh ) Great synths, great sounds, great times !!! Really dig this guy's understated attitude :D
I watched through 30 minutes of the video, and then decided to bring my JX-3P out to try some stuff with it since the first minutes inspired me to play something since it's been in it's case for a while.. And what do you know, later in the video he shows that he also has one, and the programmer, like me! Awesome! Unfortunately my PG200 doesn't work properly, but man, it sounds awesome still without it, and for not being in the best of conditions. And MIDI works well too! Seeing the AMIGA there really got me thinking about the old chiptune music, good stuff, sounds great as well. I also love the drum area, some really good sounding beats came out of those machines. I love analog-synths, and would love to get some more to expand my range. However, I still have lots to learn, so might experiment with the 3P some more first. Great tour of the facility, was a really interesting one, especially since many producers these days base themselves on using computers.
Wow, never in a million years thought Legowelt would have the Yamaha PSS-380 in his collection. The 390 is the keyboard I've had since I was 7 & learnt to play on. It still has it's uses (normally strange ones), but as Sir Legoface says, it's not really a proper synthesiser.
In the first room, i wonder if he is sequencing only with the Amiga. In a sense a minimal studio... loads of synths and drum machines but only the reverb and fxs in built into the mixer? Im intrigued to know more of his workflow with synths. Also there is the FACTMagazine vid of Legowelt.
I love it when synthesizers just start appearing through walls. I would like to hear what he thinks of his Alesis Monitors next to the MS20? After seeing this unbelievable synth collection it makes sense to buy a Roland SYSTEM 8 loaded with plug outs. ✌️ 😊
"... turquoise, purple and... green............. ahhhhm.... yellow, of course...". You just gotta love that guy.

A tr 707 sounds hot & tight! Much better than that muddy Korg er-1. Love the sound as much as my 909!

4 years later, this still the MVP comment
When he announced "the other room" - he killed me.
The same ! Ahha
One of the best studio tours ever. He has the gear, has it all plugged in, knows much about it, takes his time and runs through everything. Just awesome.
He didn't show us how the crumar sounds?! Just laid his arm over it!!
"For your entertainment I will skip through some of these presets"
Lol.. love the way this guy talks
+1 If you waited for him to say "synthesizer"

i keep coming back to this video
Yep, trying to find a Poly 61 myself now.. and a Jupiter 8... and a Voyager... and a Prophet 8....and a sub37... and a full bank account.
What a guy. What a collection. Really enjoyed this!
that sweater looks luxurious.
this guy should be a character in a movie, i like his style.
This is amazing
I am watching this for the 100th time and I know I am not alone doing this
I find this video so inspiring. And I like the fact that most of the stuff he plays sounds more like his Franz Falckenhaus productions than Legowelt ones.
LEGOWELT .Finest techno producer ever ,never ever made a bad track ,and he's made hundreds .
He probably has you just don't get to here them!
He is brilliant, without doubt, but not all of his output is equally strong, IMO
Great guy! Bought his Jupiter-6 long time ago, installed the Europa-mod in it, still one of my favorite synths!!
lmao he's so gentle and chill as fuck haha.
the best studio tour ever.
Ended up with ebay open in another tab. Great stuff !
lmao same
The 808 is signed by Egyptian Lover!
Not sure if it makes it worth more or less :D
"I really like this kind of like Brian Eno "On Land" ambient atmospheres, like, that it sounds like you're in nature, but actually you're not, you're in a studio with lots of nasty radiation and chemical fumes from this nasty synthesizers, it's quite horrible in a way..."

@@rachelar Can't see much of a connection between your comment and what Legowelt actually said in the video.
@Filip Pandrc She is saying that Eno didn’t use much gear for his music.
This makes me feel better about my struggles with FM synthesis. Knowing that someone like Legowelt has issues with it too. LOL
This guy is a LEGEND!
I agree!
At some point his music was a very inspiring to me, and I guess that to many others too.
Pingaton luv his music
@@Pingaton It happened to me too without even notice. I never realize until I compare my tracks with some of his.
He talks a bit slow, but luckally youtube has this new function where you can speed the video up so I watched it at 1.25. Perfect!
hahha nice dude
Nick Haakman i love the guy but he talks so slow, that even on 1,25 i cant bear it :D
+Nick Haakman i need the same thing in real life, i speak waaay tooo sloowly lel
+Nick Haakman actually i was watching at 2x
You don't have time to live?
Guy made a name for himself without most of what's in this space. These are nice and I want them all, too. But clearly, his talent shown itself anyway, despite not having all the bells and whistles back then. It'd be a shame for anyone to not explore music production because they believe they need thousands to start off with. I'm sure Wolfers would agree.
This is the one I've been waiting for. Glad you finally made it happen.
I love how he has to basically punch the 'start/stop' button on the 808 for it to work.
"It looks like an early 90's dishwasher"
That killed me!
He's right ;-}
What a perfect studio you have there, young Sir.
gotta come back to this once in a while :)
now that's a studio tour! ;-)
Some of these random playings sounded great already.
"This modul looks like an early 90's dishwasher control panel" Ha ha ha
Creative and chill dude. Also: "synthesizer"! :D
WHAT!!!. Lets go to my other room. LOL!!!!
love those electribes. glad to see someone appreciates those. the adc on the 12 bit es1 is incredible for sampling
Going to go buy some hoseplants now.
That track he plays at 14:15 was crazy and sounds like a pure legowelt track.
And again, the cheapest things in both studios are the chairs :D But absolutely nice two setups.. Amazing how everything he "bleeps" out of those synths sound 110% Legowelt. Yet again, machines do not operate without a human who generates the desired parameters. Nice... Nice... Nice!
Fascinating stuff. After watching several Legowelt videos I think he must have a gigantic attic!
Perfect... Thanks for the tour!
Probably the greatest porn video I've ever watched.
this or chromeo one
hahahah 80s porn mood
It's actual bullshit. Show us hundreds of tasty keyboards without letting us hear them.
I gotta join in on this one. Get your wildest reporter on RDJ’s house and have him do a B&E AND FILM ALL OF HIS GEAR!! Just show us the gear and no one gets hurt man! Ha ha ha!!
If you like this watch junkyXL channel his studio has all plus more
I like the way, when he demos them he plays something decent. Great studio tour :)
its awful how this vid has only 130k views and the martin garrix one has 3million
Maybe because Garrix got his own plane with less than 10 samples and a pc, and of course he's young. So the kids identify.
Because it's a totally different scene? I love this 'scene' btw!
Octamed on Amiga rocked ! Nostalgia..
I like your room with all these flowers and also the synths :-)
notice the orgone pyramid..got one in my studio..the amiga..so badass..this guy is amazing and chilled out
Refreshingly good modular sounds. Funnily enough all the latest and greatest module chasers end up sounding quite similar as modern modular is going, ironically, less modular and more towards one module per voice. This gives a lot of modular music quite a slick, preset synth sound.
This is my stress relief soundtrack
Legowelt Drinking Game
Rules:
Drink whenever he says ‘synthesiser’
I can't believe he has a Mystery Spot sticker on one his keyboards. that place is so much fun
Damn he really stepped up his studio in the time between his fact magazine video and this one. Would love to see it now!
One hour and 8 minutes, geez, this is the real deal!
i found his music yesterday and now i don't know how i lived before it...i cant decide which one is my favorite, all of them are so good..which songs are your favorite ..anyone?
Wicked tour, cool geezah, what a collection. "Let's go to the other room, I got more synths there" Mental. :)
The real gear lust was growing in me with every minute of the video :-)
... and the killer line: "Let's go to the other room, I've got more synthesizers there" !
Love this guys samples, some of the best free samples around
My fave sounds from this collection were from the D50 and the Poly 61. Who really needs analogue!
Look at all these things I can't afford!
haha I know how you feel. :D
The cool thing is, he shows lots of stuff you can afford.
you can afford the yamaha 380
oldcomforter Yes, sound craft mixer, electribe plus the pedal, amiga, alpha juno, hohner, tascam 4track, akai module, D-50 ..
If you take your time you can get the whole list for under 1K
2021 I’m still here ❤️
Total dedication ;) Love it
he's a legend.. so much respect to Danny
Very cool great studio tour!
What a dude. His current live show is class. Amazing sounds at the Grand Social, Dublin. A true techno geek.
He got some great sounds out of that Korg poly 61 towards the end of the video
This part blew me away when I first saw this video, fantastic sounds
really really really good !!
This was really helpful. Much obliged.
great tour!
I love this guy, I wanna shout at his feet. Hey feet!
what the fk?
S in: "I like the colours of this knob...heyyyy, there's some sound goin' underneath as well"?
26:21 that 808 is busted but sounds so good.
The best Thing in the Studio is his pretty, little, blue Chair from his Childhood... Nice guy!!!
"This is a Roland JD-800. It is a digital synthesizer from 1992.... I bought it from a new age composer and it smelled very much like incense when I bought it." BWAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAAA!
"unfortunataly it doesn't smell liken incense anymore" hehehehe
His voice has a kind of McKenna vibe, loving it!
I get what you say
What a cool guy! So charmingly eccentric!
this is my favorite video on the internet
Nice video, lovely studio, charismatic man. Would have liked to know more about his recording methods. How does he use such small mixers with so many synths? (I don't see any patch bays). Does he record to the reel to reel or to a computer? What does he sequence with now? This is less of a studio tour and more an overview of his (admittedly impressive) synth collection.
This is SO great
He also owns a Korg microkorg, a Roland Juno Alpha, a Korg ms2000, and many more that are posted on his website
AMIGA, yes! Now i love him even more!
Danny Wolfers is a genius. Dark Days from 2004 is my favourite work of his, so good...
He's the Bob Ross of synthesizers.
Really nice collection of synths! You also need a prophet 5
hahaha "I love this synth because of all the blue lights" ROFL.. what a mad dawg!
Best ASMR I ever heard!
Memories ...
With a few exceptions, have worked with all of them demonstrating in a music store. (almost) Never used a manual, just dig in !
(when I look at the x000's of pages of manuals with my software today ... sigh )
Great synths, great sounds, great times !!!
Really dig this guy's understated attitude :D
Nice collection of mostly vintage gear.

"You can space out for hours", is, I think, the main message, Legowelt gave us here ;-}
Wow, never in a million years thought Legowelt would have the Yamaha PSS-380 in his collection. The 390 is the keyboard I've had since I was 7 & learnt to play on. It still has it's uses (normally strange ones), but as Sir Legoface says, it's not really a proper synthesiser.
"Synthesizer synthesizer synthesizer!" - Legowelt
YES!!! OctaMed....Oh man that takes me back to my Amiga 500 day's.
49:21 is so tight, had my head nodding.
1:00:30 I came to this video to see the original context of this comment and it was still hilarious
I love it when synthesizers just start appearing through walls.
I would like to hear what he thinks of his Alesis Monitors next to the MS20?
After seeing this unbelievable synth collection it makes sense to buy a Roland SYSTEM 8 loaded with plug outs.
✌️ 😊
I love it how he gets so serious when speaking english :)
this guy is cool , what a class collection
ok now i want to see the routing
My mouth is watering...
Legowelt, what more to say.... My heritage and my sound ...All good. :)
