Would you believe this special is the only time in history that Mickey Mouse ever interacted with Walt Disney onscreen?

    • @MrWhatdafuBOOM

That was just a picture, though.

@MrWhatdafuBOOM True. But it's still an interaction. It's more that Micky is acknowledging the existence of his creator.

I legitimately cried when I first watched this, especially when Mickey looked at Disney and when they started singing When You Wish Upon A Star.

In case you didn't know...for the "Feed the Birds" moment with Mickey talking to Walt Disney (FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER), they did get Richard Sherman (who wrote "Feed the Birds" with his late brother Robert) to play a new version of the song for this short.
I'll also mention that Burny, the man this short is dedicated to, was the guy in the red shirt at the beginning. While he didn't see the final cut, he was able to see a complete enough version of it before he passed in mid-2023.

I love that, I knew the guy at the beginning just couldn’t think of his name and I’m glad he got the chance to view something prior to his passing

Both remarkable men who deserved their parts in this, and the title of Disney Legend, a hundred times over. After Burny passed, I'd bet money that Walt was one of the first to meet him at the pearly gate, shook his hand, and said "Good work, son."

There are a few deleted scenes that did not make the final film. The short is nine minutes long but in actuality, it would’ve been 14 minutes long. The additional minutes would’ve showcased other characters that didn’t get much or not enough screen time and more interactions amongst each other.
    1) After the men’s dressing room scene. There’s an extended scene of it cutting to the women’s dressing room showing Ariel and Jasmine sharing the same mirror together and then onto a separate dressing room featuring several Disney characters voiced by Alan Tudyk (Disney’s very own good luck charm). King Candy, Duke of Weselton, Alistair Krei, Duke Weaselton, Hei Hei, Professor Knowsmore, and Tuk Tuk.
    2) Yzma flirting with Hercules, while Jim Hawkins interacting briefly with Goofy.

It’s good to see Disney heroes and villains putting aside their differences to commemorate this 100th anniversary celebration.
I also like to picture a certain spiky haired kid with a giant key, serving as a sort of Disney security guard (a la Night at the Museum) wandering the entire Disney building with a checklist in hand, making sure all characters are accounted for and assisting any of their needs. Granted he is a hybrid creation of Disney and Square, but he has traversed their worlds.

"Every guy here'd love to be you, Gaston..." XD
And I must say, seeing a grown man cry at Mickey Mouse and animated characters is almost as endearing as the short itself. I was certainly misty eyed by then and overwhelmed with feels and utter joy by the end. Hopefully this encourages the stuffed shirt execs and his infinite stupidness the CEO to keep their noses out of these projects in the future, if they're not tossed out soon (which I pray for daily). Awesome reaction vid!

The first time I watched this short it was definitely a mix of happy tears & sad tears because I was thinking of my grandmother who could have been alive to even watch this short of how Disney animation came so far. Plus since my grandparents are in heaven I bet that they thanked Walt Disney for bringing Disney animation especially Mickey Mouse to our lives. I definitely agree with you especially I’m also a Disney lover myself.

Ever since the first time I watched this short film, it meant a lot for me. I was there on Centennial day October 16th 2023 it was definitely the greatest of all time. I don’t care it controversies but I do care about is every Disney characters then now and forever 543 in total does Emma short is how Disney animation came so far. I would wish. Mr. Walt could see it in heaven. I I live with Disney sleep with Disney. I considered as they truly are my lifetime friend. Without everyone, the world will never be the same. Here’s to y’all. Happy 100th Disney.

I absolutely LOVED the moment where Mickey was looking at the picture of Walt Disney. That part too, made me emotional. This short was a REALLY good short!

Hey Iron! I'm a Disney fan too. So this is a fun watch for me. Thanks for reacting to Disney's Once upon a Studio. It's such a great tribute to Disney's 100th Anniversary. 🏰🌟🎶🎼🎵🟣⚪

They even got OG Animators to come back and work on this too. They did have get permission from Robin William's family to use his voice in this special. Also to use Tarzan and Jane, much like for the Tarzan movie, they had to get permission from the original creator's estate to use the 2 chars in this short.
LOL when I was watching the credits I was like, "Did this person really show up?" Because I went into this special completely blind too. Then I watched 'behind the scenes' stuff and found out they used old tracks because the first Disney movie I remember in theaters was Oliver and Company (it's how I became a dog lover lol). And Billy Joel voices Dodger that shows up so when I first saw his name in the credits I was like, "Did Billy Joel actually show up?" More likely they just used old audio because he does howl like that in the movie lol.
I do recommend watching behind the scenes footage because few of the returning VAs get a bit emotional while thanking them lol.
Love the details that pop up too, like I am SO glad they went with Cinderella's original dress color because they changed it blue for the Disney Princess line up (like how they changed Aurora's gown to be pink).

Awesome reaction! I’ve been browsing around viewing many reactors on RUclips and yours is one fine example that any of us who grew up watching Disney animated films as a child or as an adult, it does more than just provides nostalgia. They encompass that the studio has evolved in the years that followed for every generation.

I would have loved it if Mickey called Walt father and Oswald, brother, consider they're classed as brothers on Wikipedia and Oswald came a year before Mickey but Universal took part Oswald, so Walt created Mickey as his replacement.

Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory could have worked in this short. Wish Upon A Star is ok but Pure Imagination would work a lot better because when Walt Disney was a kid and now as an adult he used his imagination to make theses movies, TV shows and theme parks come to life. It would have been the perfect song to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company.

I saw it in french and I had the same reaction as you when you heard Robin Williams' voice but not for him.
When I heard recordings of the voice of Roger Carel, a guy who voiced a lot of Disney characters in french, and who passed away in 2020
