Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning.
Yo yo yo that's a sweat looking lidded box . See what I did there lol . Have a great weekend take care .
HAHAHA......Thank you Glen!
Good looking box Carl👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎
Thank you :)
This is an awesome box, Carl. You did very well. 😄😄
Thank you!
Awesome carl. Missed having time to watch you. Glad i could at least catch this one
Thank you!
Beautiful little lidded box Carl.
Thank you Jack!!
That is a awesome box carl
Thank you buddy!
Much better than making a clock out of it. The yo-yo I made was a solid one piece design from black walnut and it worked worked. Used the dou8ble sided pressure tape to cleanup the back side. I did make mine a little heavy and I used actual Duncan yo-yo string.
LOL
Lidded boxes are my favorite, too. And you make the best ones. Thank you, Carl and Robin.
Thank you very much :)
Great demo Carl! Really loved the inlay and how precise you were turning to make it fit proper…thanks
Thank you!
Great project. Question on your parting tool: why that particular one this week? Just curious. Also, when you were preparing the top for the inlay you used the parting tool. I have used the Easywood square cutter but I am a newer turner. Any suggestions on my choice? Thanks for these videos!
Great project Carl a beautiful looking box mate.
Thank you Mike :)
Love the pop those boxes make! Really glad you showed that making a good fit with the inlay is something you sneak up on vs just getting it right every time. With the grain on the wood, the honeycomb looks amazing for the top. Another awesome project!
Thanks so much!
Sweet looking yoyo lidded box. I sent you something !👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you buddy
I love watching you turn. Such an elegant shape. Years and years of experience certainly pay off!
Thank you so much!
Nice presentation, quality work. I like the shape and idea of the combination of wood and honeycomb.
Thank you very much!
That is sooooo nice Carl.
Great piece and video, and recycling a yoyo is a very clever idea.
Might do the same to mine and use it as an inlay for something.
Take care Carl.
Cheers Huw
Thank you Huw! I think yours would look great as an inlay too.
Take care,
Carl
@@CarlJacobson I think that is the way forward for this one. Thanks for the idea Carl. Cheers, Huw
Looks fantastic! Love the inlay and the shape! Great piece! It took me forever to get the hang of lidded boxes! The yo yo was cool but sometimes things just don't work out the way we think it should go! It's cool you could salvage the inlay! Awesome work!
Thank you buddy!
Looks beautiful Carl! Great work!
Thanks a bunch!
Very cool project Carl. The shape is really nice. I agree with you, turning lidded boxes is fun.
Thank you Mark 🙂
Awesome box Carl. Great use for half of the non-functioning yo-yo. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks buddy :)
Nice box, Carl. It sounds like Robin was laughing at you.
Bill
Thank you Bill, yes she got a kick out of the glue bottle :)

Thank you Jim :)
Beautiful box Carl. You always make it look so easy. I'm glad to see that even a pro sometimes has to work at the fit. 😊😊
Thank you 🙂
