Had not been on my lathe in a while (nor my stationary bike) & decided to do the bike first, but wanted a video to watch; so pulled up this video on my desktop-large screen, turned up the sound, had a good workout, & learned even more techniques from you - and the music was a PHENOMINAL fit for my workout. You turning and teaching is great. I have a project idea that i'm not sure how to approach. We camp a lot. I like to cook. I need a way to store all the spices that I use to cook with. It needs to be rugged and hold 6 to ten different spices. Should I turn 1 large box ant have nesting little boxes inside or is there a way to keep one stacked set together?

I really appreciate all the new videos, thanks so much for sharing! I've been watching a lot of woodturner21's videos, too, and the skew technique is so interesting to me. I noticed both you and he have your toolrests significantly above the centerline of the turning for these, is that the trick for cutting vs. scraping operations?
It's a personal preference kinda thing. With the skew I just feel more comfortable coming down on top. That's also how the guilds used to teach the technique. If you have it at the midline you need to drop the handle way low to ride the bevel.
I liked it and model my turnings after your patterns I can't get the click yet what is it can you tell me. Without my lathe and a myriad of wood working tools retirement would be impossible I've been out of work 10 years and made wood my hobby as I have 5 grandsons who like my wooden toys better than plastic.
love your videos!! but i have a question...i've heard horror stories about wearing gloves or jewelry while turning...aren't gloves dangerous while doing that?? or even unnecessary?
Ever touched a blade after it's been cutting? It's hot! When turning green wood it's not uncommon to create steam. Dry wood to burn. Without gloves it'd be very easy to burn yourself with just the heat coming off the wood. Properly fitted gloves aren't likely to catch. So decide for yourself which risk you want to take. I chose to not have burn blisters on my hands.

But one comment I must make is it really that bad in the US that you can't mention Christmas on RUclips without apologising, you are one of the most Christian countries in the world!

Snapped my tool rest (high grade chineseum 😂) got my new one now though so I'm gonna have a go at making a little Acorn box myself!

The custom handled skew is an Alan Lacer and the black handle is 1", I think Crown but when I replace it I'll get a Thompson, and heavily modified.

The click is the oval of the tenon sliding into a less constrictive space that forces the shoulder down. Keep trying, it'll come.
