How many great singers give praise to their piers...not many. Very humble from this great vocalist who has played a big part in popular music thro' the decades. God bless her
Saw Rosie in concert four times, having met her in an elevator once in Chicago. In addition to her impeccable phrasing and right-on pitch and great personality, she had the most beautiful eyes and smile. RIP Rosie.
This is Rosemary Clooney at her absolute best! What a musician! The arrangement of the medley is excellent and the trumpet section near the end is thrilling. I love it when, after those terrific trumpet blasts Rosemary Clooney takes the tune home.
It's hard to believe how good this woman was...her album "Do You Miss New York?" is a masterpiece of American music. The warmth and joy coming through in her singing was irreplaceable.
Absolutely fabulous, she nailed you turned the tables on me - probably the swingingist ever version I've ever heard. she is in fine voice here. Outstanding.
They say this concert took place at her 58. Outstanding, amazing no words to define her intact voice and vitality, her beauty. I stayed wanting more of her art. Thx to SwingCla
Marvelous performance of Miss Clooney with the Benny Goodman Orchestra here. No one has pointed out that for her set, her long time musical director/pianist/arranger John Oddo is leading the orchestra. I just love this.
I playing that video of Rosemary clooney for my Dad while i looked after him .he wasxa musican with his siblings .they all have passed now the music has died the end of a era
What class! I met her at one of her performances here in Dallas. She came over to our table and sat with us and talked for quite awhile. She was such a delight, with a beautiful smile and beautiful soul!
Rosie pays tribute to some great lady singers but she should have included herself in the pantheon. Rosie could swing. Her phrasing was impeccable and her husky, honey tinged voice immediately recognizable. Sheer genius!!
Martha tilton was the greatest because I remember singing the song Angels sing I miss all this music to it's tough to get old that's all you have is memories left
I worked on this PBS show which was a tribute to Benny Goodman. Peggy Lee was supposed to originally do this segment, but she backed out at the last minute. Rosemary Clooney agreed to appear and the segment was refashioned as a tribute to the Goodman "girl" singers. Thanks for uploading this video.
Wish this whole concert was available. I remember seeing it when it aired on PBS in '85. I was born in 1960 and this was more my parents' music, but I always loved big band and swing. This was a helluva show with Benny still wailing on that licorice stick at the age of 77. During this show, in addition to Rosie, Benny performed with people like Louis Belson and Red Norvo and, if memory serves, Frank Sinatra also made an appearance. Rosie added so much to Jazz and Swing and made some great albums on the Concord label with saxophonist Scott Hamilton in the 1980's and '90's.
Love this! Nothing better than Big Band Music and great singing! I was a little girl when this music was popular. I thank my parents for watching Lawrence Welk, Ed Sullivan and all those great shows so that I could appreciate and love REAL musicians and Great Voices.
Rosie could sing just about anything...........so,so talented. I am so sorry she didn't stick around a lot longer. I've got almost everything she ever recorded...........great stuff too. Love you Rosie.
I just loved Rosie's rendition of these songs. I have been looking for them on DVD and have yet to find them there. My poor VHS recording of the show does not do them justice. Thanks for posting them.
She left us in 2002..... That was a very long time after this show. I last saw her with George Clooney in an episode of E. R. !!! Somewhere in the mid to late '90's. And as far as I know, that was the last time She sang......... !!!!!!!! And was..... wonderful.......
Rosemary Clooney is very underrated. In my opinion she was a better performer than the more famous Peggy Lee. Even at the end of her career, note Rosemary's outstanding stage presence and how much warmth there was in her voice.
CLASS ACT LADY. 💐🥂. SADLY MISSED. ❤️❤️❤️. GREAT PERSONALITY AND CANT BE MISTAKEN FOR ANYONE ELSE. 💃💃💃💃. GOD. BLESS AND REST IN. PEACE, DEAR LADY🙏.JOANN. LAMONICA. ONEONTA. NEW YORK
As much as my mama and tete argued about music, they always made peace with Rosemary Clooney singing... She was a Great singer. Thank you, Rosemary. My children listen to you and my grandchildren gratefully welcome hearing you after all the different singers that we listen to over a family get together. Rosemary is a blessing in our lives.
May 23: Happy birthday Jazz-Pop Singer / Actress Rosemary Clooney; Society of Singers Lifetime Achievement Award (1928-2002) Thank you and God bless. Thanks for the upload / video SwingCla. RIP Entertainer. Blessings
Ah. Channel 9 in st. Louis Missouri, just had a program of 50's music, dedicated in Memory of Rosemary Clooney. She was 74 when she died. She's Georg Clooney's aunt. He even admitted he was sometimes a pain in the neck. Micheline Kribs,Rolla,MO
Goodman had a lot of other superior singers but he went through them so fast Rosemary couldn't pay tribute to them all. Too bad she had to leave out Helen Forrest, though.
The 40's were my parents generation. I LOVE THIS MUSIC. GREW UP LISTENING TO BENNY GOODMAN, GLEN MILLER AND SO MANY GREATS. .M Y DAD WAS SUPPOSE TO BE ON THE PLANE WITH GLEN MILLER, HIS DRIVER WAS LATE. mILLER AND HIS PLANE WENT DOWN OVER THE ENGLISH CHANNEL, NEVER FOUND.m.kRIBS rOLLA,mo

Rosemary Clooney is one of those rare people who just got better with age.

the trumpet player is Paul Cohen, one of the gret lead trumpet in the business, he played with Count Basie in the late 70s or early 80s.

that make singers that any more plus i miss ella
What style. What grace. What timing. What class. Rosemary has it all.
yeah i forgot timing. maybe that's what so perfect. swinging when there's tempo, perfect with a ballad. it must be the timing that sets her apart
I agree--her timing is just absolutely spot-on with everything she sings!! (And she made it look effortless like all the great ones do!!)
They say this concert took place at her 58.
Outstanding, amazing no words to define her intact voice and vitality, her beauty.
I stayed wanting more of her art.
Thx to SwingCla
Rosey! Louie! Pauly Cohen!!! Wow!!! Sublime!!!
There's just nobody to come along better than Rosemary, that's all there is to it...
You will never see or hear this music again
God, I love her voice, I always have. There's just something warm and irresistable about it. Her wonderful heart shines through whatever she sings.
There's no one like "Rosie" ...... always enjoyed her and her wonder singing.
Marvelous performance of Miss Clooney with the Benny Goodman Orchestra here. No one has pointed out that for her set, her long time musical director/pianist/arranger John Oddo is leading the orchestra. I just love this.
Ah, the conductor here is John Oddo, who also played the piano at Woody Herman. I’ll add his name in the description. Thank you!
WOW! Thanks so much for sharing this fantastic clip. What a singer. The best!
What a Star, and what a sublime performance that was, Very close to perfection ... 5*****

Rosie is exceptional in this medley, must see this if you are too young to have been able to see Ms. Clooney during her mature years.
Quelle grande classe, quel phrasé, quel professionnalisme, quel talent, quelle chanteuse extraordinaire! Merci beaucoup from Paris France 👍 👍 👍.
I would have loved to have seen RoseMary in person. She is just so in tune with her audience and what a great talent.
Great words, very good singer, thank you Rosemary Clooney! And thank you for sharing this Swing Cla
+simo contugi Thank you for your comment, very glad to hear that.

Rosemary Clooney and the Goodman music. Heavenly !!
Tremendous singer---great expressiveness and warmth!! Impeccable timing!! (You really can't teach this kind of talent--Rosemary sure had it!!)
Rosemary does a great job with these Benny Goodman numbers.

Down among Brazilians coffee beans grow by the billions....who else but Rosie could make a hit out of those lyrics?
A politician's daughter was accused of drinking water and was fined a great big fifty-dollar bill, they've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil
Excelente!!!
Fabulous.
Louis Bellson on drums!
Not fair to leave us, Rosemary dear.... :'(
Estos trozos de Vídeo deberían ser editados en DVD, cosa que no han
hecho todavía:Gracias p.s
10/10! what a lot of shit music we get subjected to these days.
You are soooo right, brother!
Y ..... para cuando el DVD de ésta homenaje? el uruguayo.
Where could one purchase the DVD of this WNET production?
Saw Rosie on the Steel Pier in 1959-60 .
Martha Tilton was on Jack Benny's program once
Just realised where Randy went. Missing at 6.40 back at 7.20. Wow, that was a quicky!
Rosemary.
When she was young, she was a "Doll Baby".
Re the band...where did Randy Sankey go for this session, he was there before.
Cantó a duo con Bing Crosby y cantó con Varios nenes Del Jazz, Muy Buena
atte. P.S .
George looks a lot like her.
@Q8117: not that I disagree with your assessment, but did she not live seventeen more years after this performance was recorded?
🎺🎺🎺❤!
❤
George's aunt!
