What he's ultimately talking about is SAR Systemic Acquired Resistance , it's the enzyme Chitinase that breaks down the chitin which induces SAR in plants , Salicylic acid will also induce SAR in plants , Salicylic acid is found in kelp , using kelp meal as a top dress , in soil mixes or making your own seasol type liquid will do the same as the frass product in regards to SAR , you can also get the enzyme chitenase from malted barley along with a bunch of other enzymes , malted barley is cheap & if you really want to activate a soil mix , top dress it or add it as a soil mix amendment , pop into a brewers shop & look for Pilsner malted barley seed preferably grown organically if poss or ask which malted barley has the highest number of enzymes , it'll usually be the more lighter colored seed , as a side note malted barley is made by sprouting barley seed & very quickly stopping the germination process which traps these enzymes , once you get the malted seed home you use a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle to make the malted seed into a powder & add that to your soil , you can also just sprout fresh seed yourself & once the tap root is as long as the seed , blend them in a blender with a little water & add the blender contents to a larger amount of water & water your plants with it , it's a process called Seed Sprout Tea or SST for short , you can use all types of seed like corn which will provide your plants with a plant hormone called cytokinin or use lucerne/alfalfa seed for plant hormone triacontanol , you can look up what these hormones provide your plants when watered in , lots of ways to increase plant health for pennies 👍
