Really like the new update and features! Can't wait to test it out! Great job team Blackmagic Design!! Keep up the good work!
Recently bought Davinci Resolve Studio and keen on learning the magic, with this update I really think it's going to make things easier.

I think one of the most underlooked features is just making everything smoother and more responsive.
I've played around with Luma fusion on the iPad pro and while it lacks some features necessary for professional use it is insane how smooth the timeline scrubbing is in that program. Especially since its running on a mobile SOC, no dedicated GPU with 8+ gigabytes of v-ram, or a 16 thread cpu, just a mobile SOC and 6gb if ram total. And its not just the timeline, thanks to pro motion nearly everything you do in Luma responds instantly! Its a small difference that just makes the editing process feel so much smoother. I've used resolve on a 144hz monitor and while its not painfully slow, nothing is nearly as snappy and responsive as Luma fusion. If they did nothing but make resolve more stable/crash less, improve performance/optimization and add quality of life updates that made the timeline scrubbing smoother and streamlined the work flow while adding more ui customization id be verry happy!

I totally agree. As much as I like new features, for them to invest heaps into the smoothness and everything would be great

Object remover and stabilization can be improved a lot.

For sure! Object removal is pretty bad imo

1- the Audio speed ramping would be pretty cool
2- the curve editor in the edit page must be fixed
3- add a specialized masking feature in the edit page for opacity, effects, texts, generators, and adjustment layers
4- audio in the fusion page
5- lum vs lum curve (if possible)
6- wipe effects for the edit and fusion pages (for motion graphics)
7- let the effects parameters' value be more customizable
These are my thoughts that I always wanted to see em existing in resolve

Oh I didn’t even think about masking. Would be good to have some basic controls

    1. Agree on time remapping.
    2. Agree on interface customization. In Fusion especially. Spline or Keyframes panels destroy your nodes view. Especially both on them.
Also, the monitors are ridiculously tiny, but the tools panel underneath isn't even removable.
    3. Keyframe curves in the edit tab are horrible to work with.
    4. When you copy your grade from one clip to another, it copies stabilization as well. Even if you applied stabilization in the Edit tab. That's very stupid.
    5. Freeform view for the media pool in Edit tab would be a game changer for actual editors. If you didn't try it in Premiere or Avid, you missed a lot.

Aside the fact that there are native plugins (like NEAT for example), there's OFX. OFX is older than FCPX, it's plenty accessible. Most manufacturers likely don't care enough.

Nodes in Fairlight. Sorry I'm musician and I think audio effects like my guitar/bass pedal effects and it is important what effect is first in line.

I shared with another youtuber that I wish that DaVinci Resolve would make bezier keyframes be the default setting rather than linear. Since I believe in physics, I know that objects need to accelerete and decelerate; as a result, I spend way more time than I want on creating ease-in and ease-outs. 'Hope you agree!

  • @mastixmastix

    For me it would be:
1- support ProRes Raw and ProRes render for PC users
    2- Improve object removal
3- Out of memory errors although i have updated to RTX3090 so this should be now over
4- Fusion: Still too complicated. i don't know I always seem to be fighting Fusion, opposite to the Edit and Color Tabs that seem easier. All the Fusion interface is clunky. You have to right click on places to open hidden menus that if you didn't see in a tutorial you would never guess. All the Spline is confusing as hell. A lot to be improved in Fusion
5- Plugins more I agree on that. I use Mocha Pro to stabilize and object removal as it is 1000 times better than Davinci. If they are not capable of doing something make it easier that others can work at it.
6- Weird timeline playhead jumps on the edit page.
7- Audio : keep improving it. It is becoming better and better. Develop useful plugins like the Izotope RX plugins that are truly great to repair audio.
8- Being able to smooth out keyframes (ease in and out) in the edit page without needing to do it in Fusion.
9- Keep improving it constantly the way you do now. It is a much better solution that Adobe or Final Cut. Continue leading the way to the perfect video suite.

I also have the RTX3090 and I can actually render out 8K stereoscopic VR for the first time.. but adding text and graphics etc... I found that even the 24GB is not enough and it's painfully slow (renders at a frame every few seconds..).. and I even got a GPU error!

    • @mastixmastix
      @mastixmastix 4 года назад +1

@@worldscalephotography That's unfortunate to hear. I hope they can improve speed and errors. I think that editing in 4K no RTX 3090 should be necessary. Lets see what 17 brings but every version has been more intensive in resources so I don't hold my breath that we will see a dramatic increase in speed. Hope I am wrong.

I really want smoother playback, often times I can play back BRAW or ProRes HQ 422 fine from my NAS with an external player, but as soon as I import it into Resolve it keeps dropping frame during playback.

Totally agree on the time remapping. It really does take too many steps. And why retime frame as the default? Davinci is great, I would be surprised if 17 is as big of a step as 16 was from 15. Is there a way to stop Davinci from selecting the Adjustment Layer as the default clip when movig to the Color or Fusion tabs?

    • @ThatModernDude

I agree so much there! Hard to say, things seem quite hard to find in resolve

  • @Megallean

I know they won't because no editor outside of Vegas does this, but I wish the timeline Audio/Video divider could be disabled.
Every panel takes up to much space, and I constantly need to resized everything just to give enough space to comfortably edit video to audio. And it just gets worse the more tracks you put in.
Having such small window segments to have to individually scroll through is a big pain.

I've asked for this feature for years...it's mostly for near set DIT workflows.....need the ability to export the stills from the gallery at the end of a day and have them bring their custom names. Doesn't seem like it would be hard to do in the grand scheme of this program. Doing it one still at a time is basically of no use at all.
