Honestly, I had tears in my eyes watching this, this morning, mums parents told her these stories and she recited them to me when I was a child, to see that these characters actually existed is mind blowing, I can't wait to visit, a trip to Pakistan my ancestral land is on the top of my list. I visited Nankana Sahib in 1993 for the first time, met some Bhattis who told me that Rai Bular Khan Sahib was owner in possession of 1500 murabbas land but had no child till his forties. He was aware of mystic powers of Guru Nanak, so one day while he was on the round of his fields he begged from Guru a kid for him. Guru blessed him. After a span of one year or so, Rai got son from his wife. He was so overwhelmed that he invited relatives, friends and his land tillers for a grand lunch(Langar). Speaking thanks giving words to Baba Nanak he announced to transfer half of his property to the title of Guru ji. On that day Guru Baba became owner of 750 murabbas of land which means 18750 acres. This land is in the name of Baba ji in the revenue records till today. Bhattis filed civil suits in the courts starting from Shekhupura to Supreme Court of Pakistan Islamabad but got no relief.
Now Bhattis are saying that Mehta Kalyan Rai was blessed with a son by a Kalandar at the request of Rai ji. If this is so why he transferred half of his land to Guru ji? Why this family went to the highest courts to get this land transferred to their title?
The Bhattis are blessed and honorable people, we the Sikhs are proud of their devotion to the Guru ji but now they are telling somewhat contrary stories.

Harpal Pannu 100% true. Bhatties should be honest with Sikh history and do not try to make confusion in our great history. If they really have some doubt then they can read Janam Sakhies of founder of Sikhism. We all Sikh have great respect for bhatties but making change in our history is not acceptable.

Harpal Pannu Sir fact of the matter is that Bhatti gave away half of his land to Guru Ji , and it is very normal in our side of Punjab, a saint among my forefather got 5 murabba land like this from Muslim & Sikh zameendaars. Saints are always given ‘Hadiya-Gifts’ like this. I think Mr. Bhatti should speak with a bit more respect, I didn’t like the word ‘Naukar’ for father of Baba ji, he was munshi , and Munshi of such a huge land area would be called a Manger or MD today.
When population sky rockets and resources are limited, it takes you to do things which you couldn’t imagine before. Bhattis of today off course would have thought of Billions of rupees this land is worth today. Especially when few years back not many Sikh pilgrims were visiting Pakistan, so they might have thought that nobody cares about this land, just take it back. Still it’s a thing they can not be proud of.
Now with influx of more Sikh religious tourists, there will be more focus on protecting their religious assets in Pakistan.
It’s very very very sad, that our history is not well documented, in Europe & US people can track the records back to 14th or sometimes 12th century, in Pakistani Punjab family records are maintained by people on their own, no record exists on part of Govt. prior to British rule.

My great grandfather Chaudhry Nawab Deen, My great grandmother and grand mother, all are burried in this graveyard (local people call this place as dholar). All of my life from childhood to youth age , we used to go there to say fateha on our elder's graves. I miss my elders , I miss nankana sahib.
