Soap opera star, rock star - he was what every girl wanted, and what every guy wanted to be back in the 80s. I recommend "Celebrate Youth", "Bop Til You Drop", "Don't Talk to Strangers", "Affair of the Heart" and "Human Touch" for future Rick reactions. Great stuff!!
@@noelle6167 Noah!! The crazy thing is he is still touring at 73 years old and still has such great energy on stage and his voice still sounds great. Just saw him a month ago and it was fantastic
As others mentioned, your next Rick Springfield reaction should be "Don't Talk to Strangers". I remember Rick Springfield from my mom's "stories" growing up, or more specifically General Hospital. In fact, he has been on a lot of shows over the years. So he isn't just a great singer, but a good actor as well.
Rick Springfield...also known as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital. There was a time in the 80's where Rick was HUGE. He was a teen idol, he starred on General Hospital, which he left to focus more on music...and this song was from a movie he did called 'Hard to Hold'. If you want to get emotional, listen to his song titled, 'April 24, 1981'. That's the day his father passed, and Rick wrote this for him. It's very short, but it hit me in the gut when I heard it in the 80's, and still does today. Very beautiful, and deserves a listen.
Who doesn't love Rick Springfield's music! This from his 1984 movie "Hard To Hold". You really need to check out more of Rick's catalog of songs, such as "State of the Heart" (my favorite), "Affair of the Heart", "Celebrate Youth", "Love Is Alright Tonite" & "Don't Talk To Strangers".
Rick Springfield was great on the 80s cruise. We saw his full concert and he was also playing the role of "host" and was all over the ship. He did jam sessions with other singers as well. They were a lot of fun. They were just singing for fun at that. I talked to him in the hallway and he gave me a big hug when I told him it was my first Rick Springfield concert. 😊
@@danalyntuthill1538 I think Ricky Martin got the biggest career out that "showcase", but Rick was the first and made it something they wanted to keep using. Jack Wagner had some chart success, but ultimately went further in acting ("Melrose Place"). John Stamos didn't really get far musically, but it certainly led to acting success. And there are the likes of Wally Kurth (and whomever else I've forgotten), who didn't even get off of the soap. Still, he made a certain amount of money at that, so not all that bad.
I started watching GH around the time Jack Wagner's song All I Need was released and was hooked; watched that soap for many years after in part to loving his (Frisco) and Felicia's romance so much (even after it ended). Lol. Still sing that song to this day; makes me feel like a teen again. ❤
From his feature film "Hard To Hold." I was a HUGE Rick Springfield fan (still am, honestly), and went to see it in the movie theatre along with every other 14 year-old girl in the USA. He's in his 70s now, still rocking and still VERY good looking!
Spent part of my career marketing for music venues and festivals. Got to work on a show for Rick Springfield about 8 years ago. He's still gorgeous, still charismatic, and his voice still sounds great!
Rick Springfield has been around a lot longer than the 80's. He was an active musician in the the late 50's through the 60's, performing with several bands, including Zoot. I personally remember seeing him for the first time in 1973, on a Saturday morning cartoon. "Mission: Magic!", for which he wrote an performed an original song for each episode. He also wrote the theme song. He was often held up alongside Donny Osmond and David Cassidy as a teen idol. He's really well-preserved!😃

Rick Springfield had a wicked album and singles run! He had great albums cuts too. Dude was on fire! 🔥 I saw him 5 times back then. He sounded great live!
Rick Springfield is more than a "Soap Opera Singer." He had hit songs in his native Australia and a career in music before "Jessie's Girl" hit in 1981. His first album was released in 1972. The Soap Opera stint on General Hospital was just a boost to his career. Rick writes and plays on on the majority of his songs. And with songs like, "Love is Alright Tonite," "Calling All Girls," 'I Get Excited," "What Kind of Fool am I," "Kristina," "Human Touch," "Alyson," "Living in Oz," "Celebrate Youth," "Rock of Life," and many more, Rick is no one trick Pony! My wife and I have seen him live five times over 20 years and he never disappoints.
Thank You! Nice to see someone fully appreciate Rick's long list of songs. I'm from Australia and I've followed Rick's musical path for decades and hate how underrated he is and how he's often just known as the "Jessie's Girl Singer"(especially in Australia which is where he came from!) Our loss in Australia is America's gain
My favorite Rick song. Rock star, soap opera star, acting credits (in edition to Dr. Drake), a wonderful sense of humor...Rick is a great guy. And still sounds so good.
Rick Springfield is my favourite artist of all time. What a talent! So many people think he was a one hit wonder with Jessie's Girl but the man has 22 albums and still releases great new music today. He has also written three books, acted in tv and movies and won a Grammy for Jessie's Girl. I think Don't Talk to Strangers would be the popular pick for your next watch but I want to suggest Down which is a more recent county-ish song. His concerts are absolutely electric...he loves his fans and we love him! I have been a fan since i was very young and had impossible expectations when I finally met him. He was wonderful; funny, kind and genuine! It was a dream come true. Love you Rick! P.s. For Bruce Springsteen, you MUST do Born to Run.

So many teenager girls on the early 80s were huge Rick Springfield fans and I remember how excited I was to go see his movie on the theater. I have been a long time fan of Rick Springfields. He began in the 60's and is still rocking today at 73 years old. His music is a lot of fun, easy to dance to, full of love and loss and angst with a little bit of comedy mixed in. Check out some of his newer stuff like "Light this party up " , Or " Miss Mayhem" from the album " Rocket Science" Or "Voodoo House" from the Snake King album , " If wishes were fishes" from his " Stripped Down Tour". Rick is awesome, thanks for getting back into his music. Good song. He's from Australia. Others here in the comments have already made some suggestions I would make except "State Of The Heart" "Souls" "Dance This World Away" "Honeymoon In Beirut" "Rock Of Life" "Don't Walk Away" "Christmas With You" "I Get Excited" "What Kind Of Fool Am I" "I've Done Everything For You" "Down" "Kristina" "What's Victoria's Secret?" "Love Is Alright Tonite." Patreon Movie Suggestion: Hard To Hold (1984), he did this song for the film of which he's in as an actor. His first acting job was back in 1973 in a show called Mission: Magic! Nice reaction guys.
I saw him in concert when I was in 7th grade., second to the last row in the upper balcony. The girls behind us had a sign that said, “WE LOVE YOU, RICK!”
Oh yes !!!.. I remember when this was released .. Also the Movie “Hard to Hold”.. I remember stores selling the vests like Rick Springfield wore in the movie .. Ahh the 80’s 😊
My bf at the time even bought wrestling shoes and tied them with bandages or something to emulate one of Rick's looks😎 😀 I'm SURE he had the vest too, I just can't be sure lol
Alright my babies.... Chiming in a little late for this one. However, I was privileged to see Rick Springfield live in concert only once.... And I was totally blown away. He's a great artist and his songs are very good ‼️🔥💯🔥🎼🎶🎸😁👍🏼
Another under-rated , but great 80s pop song!!! Fun Fact: Rick Spingfield embraces his 80s pop culture icon status (beside his singing career he was an über-popular daytime soap actor) and hosts his own Sirius/XM 80s music segment called "Working Class DJ". Ahh-ho!
I saw Rick Springfield at an outdoor concert in Jackson, TN. It poured down raining and we thought he would cancel the show, but at the last minute he decided to do it. It was awesome!
This song was in a movie he did back in the 80s "Hard To Hold" Rick Springfield has a bunch of good songs you should check out along with the movie this song is in. Songs: "Affair of the Heart - Don't talk to strangers - State of the Heart - Human Touch - Souls". The one I like the most of his is "State of the Heart".
The thing that most people overlook about Rick Springfield is that he’s a pretty damned good guitarist. He’s earned the respect of many of the great axe men. ♥️✌🏼😎
I was in love with him in the 80's as was most all my friends!! Another group I'd love you to hear is Spirit and their hit "I've Got a Line on You"! You will love it!!!
_I Got A Line On You_ is a great start point, and Spirit is one of those bands that will be great for watching Jay go "Now this is a different sound than the last time we heard them" about 14 times. 😁 Then we can get into _Nature's Way,_ _Fresh Garbage,_ _Gramophone Man,_ _Straight Arrow..._ and on and on.
Rick was bigtime in the early to mid 80s. He was on lots of t-shirts at my high school. One of the first songs I learned to play all the way through on guitar was "I've Done Everything For You". Still a favorite!
Wife here.., My Mom Looooved Rick Springfield on the soaps..To me he's alot more than "Jessie's Girl"...I mean Love that one too!!...I just think all his other songs are Awesome too!!🤘🌹
Rick first hit the airwaves in the U.S. in 1972 with "Speak to the Sky", which hit #14 on the charts. He parlayed that into a Saturday morning cartoon show, "Mission: Magic!" which ran for a year.
For a much more emotional song, check out My Fathers Chair. Rick wrote it to his father, who always believed Rick would hit the big time and supported his dreams, but passed away just before Rick made it.
Rick Springfield was big on the soap opera General Hospital. That's also where "Uncle Jesse" got his start as the bad-boy 'Blackie' - - a role later reprised by Antonio Sabato Jr. Who was featured in an Iconic music video with Janet Jackson (Love Will Never Do), directed by legendary fashion photographer Herb Ritts. And 2 years later, Ritts also directed a (strikingly similar but) equally amazing video for MJ (featuring Naomi Campbell) 'In the Closet.' But back to General Hospital - - the popular soap also had another actor/singer/heartthrob (Jack Wagner) who also had a 1-hit Wonder, with the song: 'All I Need' Just shows everything is: 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
John Stamos played Blackie and his character seemingly went to prison never to return. Antonio Sabato Jr. played an original character named Jagger. He was the hottest man I ever saw on the soaps.
Next suggestion for Rick Springfield: "I’ve Done Everything for You," "Affair Of The Heart," "Love is Alright Tonite," " Stae Of The Heart," and "Human Touch."
I LOVE this song. Really surprised you guys haven't done more reactions to Rick Springfield. One of my all time favorite recording artists, and one of the most underrated artists of the 80s (though he really started in the 70s). I suggest My Father's Chair.
Rick Springfield guested in a lot tv series in the 70's and 80's. His MTV of "Jessie's Girl" was released and played in MTV as he guested in "General Hospital" as a new doctor and that propelled his career as a singer and the said series' ratings also went up.
So glad you went back to Rick Springfield. Other great songs to check out are "Souls" "Affair of the Heart" "Human Touch" "State of the Heart" and "What Kind of Fool am I" just to name a few
My first real concert, it was for my older sisters 15th bday. It was the Living in Oz tour. I was a metal head so I didn't tell anyone for years that I saw him live, but since that night I've always been a closeted Rick Springfield fan. I had all his albums. He puts on a great show, and back in the earlier 80's at least his live show was a lot more distorted and a bit "heavier" than the recorded versions. And he's like 73 and he's still out there killing it
Soap opera star, rock star - he was what every girl wanted, and what every guy wanted to be back in the 80s. I recommend "Celebrate Youth", "Bop Til You Drop", "Don't Talk to Strangers", "Affair of the Heart" and "Human Touch" for future Rick reactions. Great stuff!!

I have had a crush on Rick Springfield since I was 5 years old. I remember being so bummed when I learned that he was a year younger than my mom. 😁
Such a nice guy. I met him 10 years ago in Amsterdam. He took his time with the fans to talk to them and to take pictures with him.
Oh yeah!!✌❤🎶 I loved when he was on General Hospital! Love him 💞
Dr. Noah Drake!!! 🤩🥰
Showing my age here, but my very first concert was Rick Springfield’s Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet Tour. The entire experience was AMAZING! What a memory!
He is on my bucket list of artists to see. Hopefully he will come to New Zealand sometime. I don't think he has ever been to our shores.
Human Touch, Don't Talk to Strangers and I've Done Everything For You should be listened to.
Rick had some really good music."celebrate Youth" was another good one. underrated for sure.
'Souls', 'Affair of the heart', 'Honeymoon in Beirut', 'Our ships sinking' - Rick Springfield has a huge catalogue of great songs
State of the heart, great song !
He’s so good live! Been a huge fan for ages!
@@debbiedebster5806 .. 🤫.. I actually had one of the vests 😆.. Wore the Hell out of it !!!.. 🤣..
@@xtrmfc I totally understand why, so cool!!
Nice. More Rick 🏆🎶 = Don't Talk to Strangers, Affair of the Heart, Human Touch. All are 80s gold 🥇.
Rick Springfield was my first concert.
The thing that most people overlook about Rick Springfield is that he’s a pretty damned good guitarist. He’s earned the respect of many of the great axe men. ♥️✌🏼😎
I saw him in '79 and again in September '22. He's as good as ever, in his 70s.
LOVE RICK SPRINGFIELD!
"Affair if the Heart" is my personal fave.
I am old enough to remember Rick Springfield on constant rotation on MTV. Jessie’s Girl is still one of my favorites
He used to be a doctor on the soap opera General Hospital
I saw them this year. He still looks great and sounds amazing and such a nice guy.
I had such a crush on him and Jack Wagner. Both of them were on the General Hospital soap opera and had songs all over the radio!
Rick was bigtime in the early to mid 80s. He was on lots of t-shirts at my high school. One of the first songs I learned to play all the way through on guitar was "I've Done Everything For You". Still a favorite!
I had such a crush on him since his soap opera days on General Hospital ♥️
Wife here.., My Mom Looooved Rick Springfield on the soaps..To me he's alot more than "Jessie's Girl"...I mean Love that one too!!...I just think all his other songs are Awesome too!!🤘🌹
Rick first hit the airwaves in the U.S. in 1972 with "Speak to the Sky", which hit #14 on the charts. He parlayed that into a Saturday morning cartoon show, "Mission: Magic!" which ran for a year.
My oldest sister was a huge Rick Springfield fan. "Love Somebody" is probably my favourite track of his.
And 2 years later, Ritts also directed a (strikingly similar but) equally amazing video for MJ (featuring Naomi Campbell) 'In the Closet.'
But back to General Hospital - - the popular soap also had another actor/singer/heartthrob (Jack Wagner) who also had a 1-hit Wonder, with the song: 'All I Need'
Just shows everything is: 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
John Stamos played Blackie and his character seemingly went to prison never to return. Antonio Sabato Jr. played an original character named Jagger. He was the hottest man I ever saw on the soaps.
wow. thanks for clarifying. GH was so fond of recasting characters, I always thought those were same. (like when they switched 1 A.J. for another.)
Rick Springfield did a song called, They Call Me Bruce, because people would confuse him for Springsteen.
Next suggestion for Rick Springfield: "I’ve Done Everything for You,"
"Affair Of The Heart," "Love is Alright Tonite," " Stae Of The Heart," and "Human Touch."
They've done "I've done everything for you" a while back
I LOVE this song. Really surprised you guys haven't done more reactions to Rick Springfield. One of my all time favorite recording artists, and one of the most underrated artists of the 80s (though he really started in the 70s). I suggest My Father's Chair.
I've seen Rick in concert 3, had all his records and his pictures were plastered all over my bedroom wall when I was in high school and college.
Another great Aussie artist! 👍
Rick Springfield guested in a lot tv series in the 70's and 80's. His MTV of "Jessie's Girl" was released and played in MTV as he guested in "General Hospital" as a new doctor and that propelled his career as a singer and the said series' ratings also went up.
Glad you’re getting back to Rick Springfield
Lol,Rick Springfield was my very first concert n the early 80's!
I’ve Done Everything for You is another good song by Rick
So glad you went back to Rick Springfield. Other great songs to check out are "Souls" "Affair of the Heart" "Human Touch" "State of the Heart" and "What Kind of Fool am I" just to name a few
Love many of his songs (including this one), but one of my top favorites is "Human Touch."
Love him!! Try "HUMAN TOUCH" next!
Saw him in concert. Easy on the eyes and some good tunes 😉
An absolute fanatic of his took my virginity away in the mid 80s . Oh yes , sweet memories LOL !!
He still tours a bit, and has a show on SiriusXM.
And he's like 73 and he's still out there killing it
I was crazy about him and still love him
I had at least two, if not three, of his albums on cassette back in the day. Heavy rotation on my little boom box.
