    They are portable swamp cooler’s. They do not work well in humid climates. In dry climates they will work well but recommend you crack a window to vent out humidity and allow dryer air into the area.

    There NOT ventless, you have to have window air flow for them to operate. The build up of static pressure will keep them from operating properly. So a slite opening in a rear room that has it's door open and a slitely opened front room window to relieve static pressure for optimal use is required, but the exchange actually makes for the freshess possible condition.
    So watch out for the size, cause it needs to be just right for a balanced operation air flow and cooling effect. There not conditioning the air, there adding cool moist air into the room. There basically swamp coolers. Used as a secondary additional cooling unit for those extremely hot days when your regular air conditioner doesn't do the job, these will help to get the job done.

    Wait, wait! These are no real air conditioners, they are "evaporative coolers" which end up loading full of water and ice all day long. It's like having a car you have to fill with gas 5 times a day!

    There is a huge difference between ac units and ac coolers.

    • @HomeAirGuides
      @HomeAirGuides  3 года назад

      Yes, the way an AC unit cools the air is different than an air cooler.

      Not well, if it doesn't have a vent it's not actually cooling you can't make cold you can only move hot air to the outside

    Isn't it unwise to use an evaporator indoors as humidity could promote mold?

    • @HomeAirGuides
      @HomeAirGuides  3 года назад

      Evaporative air coolers are best used in dry climates. Therefore, the humidity levels should not get too high if the unit is use properly.

    So, do these have to be emptied? If they are truly a/c units, they will take moisture from the air-and that moisture must go somewhere.

    • @ambroseabellair5306
      @ambroseabellair5306 3 года назад

      There not air-conditioner's, there humidifier's / portable swamp coolers not dehumidifiers, You have to ADD water and ice for max cooling, and most work for 8 hours at a time before you need to refill. So you will have to refill them daily or more depending on the hours of use. Some do offer a continual flow connection that can be hooked up to a water supply, need to double check which unit you are buying and if that particular unit has a connection for continuous water flow.

    • @HomeAirGuides
      @HomeAirGuides  3 года назад

      No they do not have to be emptied. These units are first filled with water, and then mist that water into the air as a way to cool a room. So the water tank becomes empty over time. Or you can connect some of them to a continuous water supply like a garden hose attached to a faucet.
