We take the issue of counterfeit and knock-off parts very seriously and were unaware of your example until seeing this video. We put any inventory of the product detailed in your video on hold and have made it unsellable. We will review with Speedmaster and take the necessary actions based on those conversations. Thank you for making us aware.

Let's use any revenue owed from this counterfeit product and any other products they have on summit to make this guy whole again. And then going forward what can we do to get the real product listed on summit. This can't be the only bs product this seller has... summit should come forward now and come clean about all dealings with this seller and what possible fakes may be out there

    I feel your pain.
I built a complete capacitor tester for a large corporation and it ran perfectly for years.
I got a call 8 years later that they got it back from their china plant and it didn't work any-more.
I scheduled a service call and when I saw the machine, it was obviously not ours.
The Chinese copied (at our customer's blessing, no doubt) an entire tester with PLC, control panel, power factor inductors, custom enclosures, thermal chamber. To top it off, they put a copy of our corporate sticker on it.
Of course, it never ran, and could not be made to.
    I walked out.

I have bought parts from your for my C6 and your parts and customer service are top notch. The car community needs people like you and I am happy to pay a bit more and wait a bit longer to get quality parts like yours. Had an experience with a set of speedmaster rod’s recently. As soon as I picked them up I knew something was up with this company. Very poor quality and tolerances where all over the place. Yet they play up a facade that they make some of the best parts in the business. The biggest punch in the balls is that they charge almost the same price as the high quality, precision, and made in the USA parts. Never again. I hope this information continues to spread.

Speedmaster parts aren’t nearly the price of big name parts. I’m not sure where you got that from. And why would you knowingly buy internal engine parts from them lmao that’s on you.

    • @Sean_C6.2
      @Sean_C6.2 7 месяцев назад +1

Clearly none of you have had to recently build an engine when the entire industry had supply issues. At the time they seemed like a reasonable alternative, also price difference was only about $20 less per rod then their higher quality equivalent. That’s pretty damn close in price if you ask me for how much worse their products are. Also actual information about speedmaster parts has been quite sparse until recently. I don’t know why I even try to explain this, clearly you all think you’re all so cleaver behind that keyboard.

    • @danielwilson6665
      @danielwilson6665 7 месяцев назад

Sean I appreciate you sharing your lousy experience with Speedmaster rods. We have gotten so accustomed to speed vendors having components in stock or special orders only taking a couple of weeks to be delivered. Unfortunately the COVID shutdown took a huge toll on our performance industry and especially the smaller companies that didn’t have the resources to survive without daily business.
Overall the recovery has been slow but steady. The more common parts are sometimes taking a couple of weeks to get and custom orders are experiencing six months or more delay times.
Naturally as a result the price of performance is higher than ever before and making budget builds nearly impossible. Since you had no prior knowledge of Speedmasters reputation for shitty quality and their rods cost $20 less each with a shorter wait time than the better known name brands, that’s a $160 savings for a set of eight and more than enough reason to buy them. Especially considering how the fool in the White House and his democrat cronies have ruined the American economy.
We all learn from our mistakes. I almost made the Speedmaster mistake many years ago when they were called Procomp Electronics. I’ve been seriously into Ford 351 Cleveland engines for 40 years. Decades ago when Procomp made 351C heads available in aluminum alloy at a dirt cheap price, I almost became a victim of their inferior product. Fortunately for me the word about their bad machining quality spread pretty fast and the cost of a machine shop to make them race worthy was enough to change anybody’s mind. I’m just glad I found out before wasting any money. Some builders claim to have success after extensive machining but why bother ? Alloy Cleveland heads are available now from legitimate sources that are remarkable right out of the box 🏁.

Capitalism is about making $ as easy as possible. Companies like them will occasionally get sued, but only sometimes and only after they've made millions on the product. Add in Companies like summit or Amazon that have many 100s of sellers on their platform and now you have multiple entities involved in the theft, making it take even more work and time to receive justice.

As a naval architect selling my small boat design plans to home builders, I've had my plans pirated on several occasions, reprinted and sold with my name and logo. Then, people that bought the knock-offs would contact me with questions and requests for tech support when they would run into a snag while building their boat. Really pissed me off but I couldn't do anything about it - the thieves were in third world countries. I feel your pain, brother! I'm retired now but this sort of thing still burns my bacon!

@@cjolney I would imagine that the ready to run distributor you bought looks very similar to the RTR from MSD. That’s one of the misleading tactics Speedmaster/Procomp Electronics uses to trick customers into thinking the junk copies are from a reputable manufacturer and then rebranded with the Speedmaster name. The lower price of the junk item is the sweet deal that we all are looking for.
Depending upon the intended use of your vehicle, an ignition system failure will surely fuck up your day. A lost round of eliminations could be costly but being stranded in your daily driver always seems to happen at the worst possible time and place.
When you finish your build the junk distributor might work just fine but for how long ? The reliability of a “real” name brand like MSD, Mallory or Accel is worth the extra cost and considering all of the negative reviews by pissed off buyers of Speedmaster components, the extra cost also buys reliable performance too. Hope to hear how your build turns out 🏁

Jay I can’t thank you enough for TELLING IT LIKE IT IS in your own to the point manner and EXPOSING THE BLATANT FRAUD being perpetrated on unsuspecting buyers. By doing this video and hopefully more, you’re increasing public awareness of a global problem that impacts the United States the most because Americans are the largest consumers of aftermarket performance products.
I first became aware of the Speedmaster brand and their American importers / distributors many years ago when they started selling alloy Ford Cleveland cylinder heads at surprisingly low prices. Before buying this unknown product I researched the complaints from pissed off buyers. Problems like excessive casting flash, major machining errors with valve seats, valve angles, port locations and huge variations in chamber volume. The additional costs for a machine shop to correct the poor quality issues is enough reason to avoid Speedmaster heads.
As for Summit Racing, I’ve been a satisfied customer for a long time. However, finding out that they are selling Broader branded products, or inferior Chinese copies using the Broader brand name without having a legal contract to do so, or allegedly any other major name brands without first verifying their source is legitimate, is reason enough to be concerned.
Summit has always been my preferred parts vendor and I hope they will investigate this serious issue and take appropriate action against Speedmaster and their fraudulent practices.
Jay I think using serial numbers and/or date codes would help expose fraud and give customers some additional confidence that they are purchasing genuine Broader Performance components. I’m currently looking for a solid C4 and converter for my well prepared Cleveland and I like the idea of purchasing directly from Broader 🏁

There are several well known companies here in the States that have a reputation for making good quality components. Many of them buy their raw materials from China and manufacture them using CNC machines to precision tolerances. The metals produced by the Chinese foundries certainly don’t know what country they’re from. But the key is the specifications or quality of the metallurgy and various alloys made by the foundries has to meet the requirements of the U.S. company’s that ordered them.
A good example would be Scat rotating assemblies. All products have a limited lifespan regardless of who makes them. But Scat has a good overall reputation for products that survive in extreme engine builds. If I understand correctly, they order quality blanks from Chinese foundries and do their precision machining on the finished product at their facility here in the States.
There are several American companies that do the same thing with excellent results because they closely monitor the metallurgy process.
With that being said, it’s also a good idea to verify if the expensive performance component you’re thinking about buying was also machined in China. That’s the one to avoid because Chinese machine shops have a shitty reputation for quality control 🤷‍♂️ 🇺🇸 🏁.

Great video, this kind of thing goes on in many industries, and we support China by buying all their cheap junk and crap. If Americans just cared more about supporting American companies, they’d pay attention more where they spend their money. This guy is an example of the American dream, and this story is an example of how we’ve allowed our enemies to steal from us, and yet we keep supporting them. Intellectual property is valuable, and guys like this deserve to have their hard work and designs protected. Politicians are too worried about making enemies and getting elected instead of enforcing laws and tariffs on countries like China, and stopping them from shipping counterfeit junk across our borders. Americans used to have more pride, instead of staring at their cell phones all day. I commend this business owner for making this video and calling out the thieves and those that support them

Everyone says "sue them, sue them" what you don't realize these are huge companies with deep pockets that could tie you up for years and years with expensive litigation! I've had an American company do the same to me. Their response "what are you going to do about it". Pretty much helpless. Only avenue is what Jay is doing here, expose them for what they are.

The big corporations and wall street/bankers are even worse than the China rip off manufacturers. US corps silence and censor innovators. The rigged system ensures big capitalism always wins

The guy who invent the color screen for computers did have an insurance to cover all copy bastards.... he really did sue many and got the really big ones to pay. Now you can not get insurance to save your rights.... strange or a good plan for the big dudes who are copy-basters.

I used to work for a USA based aftermarket suspension company. It is unreal how quickly everything is cloned, copied changed etc. IMO the online retailers know what is going on, but as long as they get paid they don't care. But I'm surprised by Summit, I would expect anything there would be for real. That's shocking to me that they are no better than Amazon or eBay.

    • @Dwigt_Rortugal

I mean, Summit might very well be more honorable than eBay and Amazon. The bar is set pretty low relative to those latter two. eBay facilitates selling of shoplifted goods all day long, every day. Amazon has so many counterfeits that it's hard to know what's legitimate anymore. I ordered what I thought was 3M body panel double sided tape, received it, it looked completely legit in every way, but failed miserably in its application. I bought the same stuff from a brick and mortar store and it was like night and day. The crooks set up 20 seller accounts with names made from mashing the keyboard, and they sell the brand name at half price. It's very predictable and identifiable, and a huge company like Amazon could definitely write algorithms to detect it. If they cared.

Jay Thank You For Being an American!
I heard about this last night on UTG, Hat Tip to Tony. How you describe Broader Performance reminded me of how William Hewlett or David Packard would describe Hewlett Packard, that is an American story! And Yes, We Do Need To Be Reminded.

Thanks from England for making this video. As for Summit, I have had my doubts about them for some time as simply not being as good as some people believe they are. And, start using serial numbers and keep a basic record of the serial numbers.
