I literally just did this an hour ago for a P0300 on an LS2 engine. Cylinder 6 plug was cracked. Bank 2 O2 went bad as well from dumping fuel for too long.
What's the right fix for the valve job... Do you take the cylinder head to the machine shop and replace the bad valves or do you get the whole cylinder head fix with a complete valve job?
@@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics I'm a little confused... You diagnosed, one burned valve! Self-Tech's working from home with experience can replace a burn valve without removing the cylinder head. But, should the one burn valve be replace or remove the cylinder head and get a complete valve job repair? I say just replace the one burn valve with a OEM part and that should fix the misfire? Awesome work and videos! Thanks!
Easy and cheap repair , if the valve are not bend then, adjust the valve and add 0.5 mm extra valve clearance drive the care the valve will most likely reseal , check valve clearance after a month leave it lose for another month , your car should be back to full compression
I just have to laugh when the auction guy says it must be the computer. When in fact with most any electrical issue, that's what I look at as last on the list of possibilities. I like that scope, affordable too. Just curious if you do an injector leakdown test when you have a valve problem like that, or do you check that when the valve has a chunk of metal out of it?
They should have called you from the start, people can't help being stupid ha ha :-D Such a crisp and bright picture from the camera :-D I would imagine they could get away with a new valve and seat grinding. Maybe they find a head from a car scrap yard.
i wonder if the guide backed out/moved or ran low/out of oil and the timing set is shot, it's possible to bend a single valve out of a pair, tolerances are never perfect. only other thing, is the seat moved from being overheated, which would mean warped head, gasket, block sealer in it. best bet, just slam in used engine
I'd say head ,gaskets and timing set. Because new complete head is around the same price as sending it to the machine shop. Used head from the salvage yard would be even cheaper but then you take the chance of being in the same spot. And I say the timing set because odds are it hasn't been done but that's where you talk to the customer oh wait auction car so he doesn't know.
@@shaunadams3170 usually when i find low compression on one cylinder i condem the engine and its about the same price to do engine swap than a head swap here in new York city.
One other cylinder showed 1% and it says "OK", so it must mean 17% reduction, not 17% left (if the number has real meaning as Ivan says in his comment)
That the way the industry is pushing. Throw parts and if that doesn't work it has to be the computer or module. When they could have spent the money wisely and diagnosed properly and spent the money fixing it right the first time

I swear I saw dents in the piston and corresponding dents in the exhaust valves, in piston heads could be fly cuts or casting impressions to give clearance for valves but never in valves because they are usually set up to rotate to reduce wear and localized heating, odd.
@@bryanlatimer-davies1222 A look at the bottom side of the head would be more practical, if the engine has high miles and the oil pump is at rear of engine, it's not uncommon for the valves in No. 1 cylinder to get sluggish from oil starvation and over heating, the oil is also a coolant. I've seen computer simulations of worn guides with insufficient lube, worn valve stems in said guides, high rpm, high heat and a peculiar thing occurs a harmonic vibration is set up and causes the valve stem to rock in the guide and for a micro-second the valve locks and is struck by the piston, also because of uneven oil distribution the front valve springs usually relax, old age helps.
