  • 8.9 Brindey's lost canal route from Bloomfield, near Tipton to Bradley. The construction of the Coseley Tunnel turned the original canal into a massive four mile backwater which would its way around Summer Hill and Princes End - all lost in the 1950's. In this episode we track down the faint fingerprint this old canal route 70 years after it was abandoned.

Good to see you back Andy. Although the canal is no longer with us, it is great to see evidence of it in the landscape and the early photos. Thanks for another great episode. 👍

Wonderful! An area I know very well indeed. I’m so glad you’re back. I was worried you’d abandoned us.

Thanks again mr Tidy these old routes are my main walks absolutely love the fly over graphics. Sometimes I’ve been asked “what are you looking at? And I say trying to figure out where the old cut was. Then they leave me alone, it can be rough round these parts

    Great to have that continued.
What I noted is that near the area where you describe all pictures being flocked by swans has the Swanpool Pharmacy on St.Barks road nearby - a pure coincidence or local memory?

I would say local memory. The photos are mostly labelled Princes End which is the same spot.

Spiffing. I was suffering withdrawal symptoms wondering where you were.
