Ok in no particular order (other than I'm sort of going clockwise).... Pendeford: Mostly a decent area but there's one minor estate that although on the edge of town, years ago suffered the fate of having some bad families move there from further in and nowadays the youths are into gang stuff. St Anne's Estate, Oxley: underrated as a bad area. Not the worst but a small estate cut off from the rest with some characters. Shelley Avenue, Oxley/Bushbury: Another underrated one. Small but rough little estate in an otherwise ok area. Someone innocent horribly was shot in the park there in recent times. Bushbury/Scotlands/Low Hill: Might as well put these together as it's almost one continuous housing estate. Mostly good people but bloody rough in parts and very run down in parts. The bit of Scotlands by the pub that got shut down is pretty bad and for me, as well as Showell Circus which attracts everyone, Guy Avenue seems a bit hairy at times. Okement/Torridge Drive, Wednesfield: Three huge tower blocks and a bunch of smaller flats. Pretty rough. Fairly sure they bump up the overall crime rate for Wednesfield. Castlebridge Gardens, Wednesfield: A very small estate of maisonettes with some undesirables. Very small but the way it's laid out could be intimidating for a newcomer. Park Village (the area): Inner city main road with a bunch of rough terraced houses streets just off it. Wits needed at night I would say. New Park Village (the estate): A throwback to the 70s. Maisonettes all linked by overhead walkways. Loads of good people there but also a bit of a gang problem. Cut off from the rest. Heath Town Estate: Lived there as a teen when it was really bad. 4 huge tower blocks, 5 smaller ones and then loads of Maisonettes that were always linked by walkways. Estate has been done up and whilst it's improved it's still got gang problems. Lunt Estate: Proper trashy estate on the edge of Bilston bordering Darlaston. Coronation Estate, Bilston: just near Hickman Park. Proper naughty area. Eastfield: Nothing like as bad as it was but it's a large council estate on the inner East side and as such you'll always have some undesirables. Ettingshall Village: and surrounding area near Priestfield metro station. I love it round there but there definitely are some wrong uns. Parkfield/All Saints: putting these 2 together as they border one another. Bit of a gang problem. Definitely a prostitution problem especially around Kent Road. In recent years a high percentage of lower class Eastern Europeans who behave better than Blacks and Whites when it comes to crime but seem to neglect their areas pretty badly. Graiseley/Merridale/Pennfields: Sort of inner south West side and moving further out. Nothing like as rough as other areas mentioned but if you go there thinking it's a walk in the park then you'll get a nasty shock. Merry Hill: not the shopping centre but the estate with tower blocks right on Wolverhampton south West edge. Not a great area. Unexpected gang problems too. Whitmore Reans: Rough. Gang problems. Run down severely in parts. Wits needed. I WAS going to talk about Blakenhall Gardens from back in the day but let's be positive here.....a horrible high rise estate existed and was eventually knocked down. Though there's still a bit of rough in those parts, the reality is that the Sikhs have totally made that area their own and that's a good thing. You won't find many inner city areas with LESS crime as this one. Quality Asian shops and restaurants. A couple of rough streets but they look worse than they are. And of course a stones throw away is Goldthorn Park, an almost 100% Asian area that's wealthy, lovely and well kept and an advert for all that's right with immigration. I love Wolverhampton
I really appreciate you taking the time to give a rundown of each of those areas. I'll pin this for the benefit of others - and I love that you love Wolverhampton, if only we all loved where we lived, the world would be a beautiful place.
@@ppppickupmy Nan lived alone after becoming a widow and when a new Sikh family moved in next door and found out she has no nearby family they checked on her regularly and took food and later on did her shopping bins etc and basically treated her like family. All my own experiences with Sikhs are they are v neighbourly and hardworking ❤
Yeah I forgot about Ellerton Walk flats, Park Village, and who could forget Blakenhall Gardens 6 tower blocks before they were knocked down! Pendeford dovecotes definitely has some bad uns but it’s ok to go through. Rocket Pool at Bradley is another little area that is a bit rough. I think Rakegate/Oxley is ok though. I agree about Sikhs and also Hindus. Generally great hard working people who retain their own customs of course but otherwise intergrate superbly and are not at all much different to the white population. They fought alongside us in the war remember too.
I wish the national media would do more short films like this, I give you utmost respect for being on the ground walking around these areas and showing us what they're really like!
I moved to Wolves from Sutton Coldfield some 10 years ago and yes, it’s a bit rough in places, (same as any other city) but the majority of people I've met here are decent, kind hearted and lovely folk. What I love most about Wolverhampton are the large amount of open green spaces on the outskirts of the city. For instance, a 10 minute walk from Whitmore Reans, (less if you include West Park) brings you to the Staffs/Worcs Canal and Smestow Valley Nature Reserve or Aldersley Leisure Village, with open fields and more canal walks. There are numerous other open green spaces dotted around the city and in fact, I think we're spoilt for choice here. Personally, I prefer living here to Sutton Coldfield.
I was born in New Cross hospital and lived in Wednesfield for the first few years in one of the high rise flats, later in Lanesfield. Thankfully my parents managed to move to Wales when i was 8 pushed by the rising crime. I still go back but so much has changed and is in serious decay. I can see some of that early corrosion moving into where i am now. Flooding out from the cities that are overflowing with diverse lowlife. Thank you diversity.
I've lived in Wolverhampton since *1984* and while I won't argue with the crime statistics, it luckily doesn't feel as bad as this video makes Wolverhampton to be. I'm very familiar with *Heath Town* and *Whitmore Reans* and never had any problems. The only trouble I've ever had in *Heath Town* was after dark with a badger and a 3-legged ginger cat that stalked me for about a week.
@@ukexplored The 3-legged ginger cat got ran over by a Land Rover a month later (It wasn't me - I don't own a Land Rover) Re. The badger, don't mess with them, they are so aggressive when they feel threatened
I live in 1 of the heath town tower blocks, that appeared in this vid, it's been shot at 3 times as far as i can recall, an old couple were murdered in their newish place some time back, just after covid a guy had his arm chopped off during hte middle of the day, so yeah i keep to yself if possible around there
Genuinely surprised Wednesfield came top of the list and not remotely surprised about the rest. Wednesfield has always been lovely. My grandparents lived there and I’ve never felt unsafe there unlike the other areas. Bentley Bridge and those high rise flats do border onto Heath Town though so I wonder if the trouble just leaks across the boundary line? Because Wednesfield is massive
@@susanmurray5118 I’ve always referred to Wednesfield as Wednesfield village. Maybe it was from my grandparents but you’re right, it is it’s own town really
@@Thelittlebirchhouse yep it's like saying Willenhall is a suburb of Walsall but it's a (shit) town in it's own right that just comes under the control of Walsall council
I've lived in Wolverhampton for the past 5 years now, never had any trouble. Yes it has its rough places but to be honest I've never been uneasy walking around on my own (I wouldn't say I'm a hard bloke but I can look after myself if needed and I'm fairly streetwise). I think you've just gotta keep your wits about you. I grew up in Sutton Coldfield in Birmingham, and from experience that was a much worse place to live. Regular fights, robberies, even attempted murders/murders right on my doorstep (research the death of Nicola Dixon, late 90s if I remember correctly).
He did say the black man would have the whip hand over the white man. He wasn't strict correct about the black man I think its more the asian man. They've been very successful in politics, business and with some ethnic groups their religious beliefs appear to be dominating.
Park Road West is big lovely Victorian houses. On the other side of the Tettenhall Road is Park Dale, a beautiful little Victorian area in the middle of 30-50s builds and brutalist architecture. Not surprised the prices have dropped that much - the afluent people of Park Road West have skidaddled.
I know a guy who was voted in unanimously as chairman of a WR residents association by the neighbours because of his attempts to pull the neighbourhood together. They solved all the major problems on one estate almost overnight. It was a great success. It was due to neighbours working together toward a common goal. Then there was a problem in Maxwell road, in All Saints area with an ethnic group propositioning young Asian girls coming from school. Both English, Carribean and Asian ethnicities clubbed together and had the offenders evicted only to have them replaced by friends of the same offending group. The police and council were inefectual and the local newspaper covered the story. All Saints is a concrete jungle where the high yellow moon wont come out to play. ☹️ The Lunt is a place where a stranger would be well advised to stay away from. Just the look of the place says everything. The council have capitualated here
Thanks for posting. It's interesting to see the areas we tourists don't want to see in person. I live in Toronto and we have many areas that are dystopian also. Especially well-intentioned public housing neighbourhoods built from the late 40s to the 70s. What they didn't foresee was drug culture--total game changer. And the mixing of cultures in one cramped location. Religions and different traditions are usually going to clash, at least at first.
Thanks for commenting, and you’ve hit the nail on the head, it’s exactly all of those issues you mentioned, everyone knows it, and it gets worse year on year but there is nothing anyone can lawfully do to stop it sadly.
FYI there are plenty of ExPat Canadians who live in & many Canadian citizens who visit Wolverhampton during the summer season & they love every minute they’re here.....they just happen to be Canadian geese that’s all.
Yeah, like I mentioned, I had a few people shout at me and I didn't even come across that many people as it was raining hard most the time. I think I need to consider getting some insurance if I'm going to step it up and go to worse places than Wolverhampton 😁
@@ukexplored I used to deliver ceramic tiles round the west mids and there are many’s times I’ve been threatened even people trying to pinch tiles off of my curtain sided truck.
Yeah, it’s sad honestly - especially if you’re just trying to work. I wish we didn’t have areas with such deprivation and crime, but until something drastic changes it’s only going to continue getting worse.
Dangerous Barry ?????? I,m a senior citizen, and Wolves in general, is a wonderful place to live: full of people who have the highest standards of behaviour, and integrity. Dangerous, is the last word l would use in describing this wonderful city l call home, wild horses would not drag me out of this paradise on earth. I tingle with anticipation at what pleasures await me each day in this little bit of heaven on earth. Dangerous is not the word to use in a city with a sophisticated populace.
Wednesfield is no way the worst for crime in wolverhampton' believe me,reans, pendeford, pen fields, heath town are all a lot worse and people who live in the town know the reasons why.
I lived in Wolverhampton when I left the Army in 1975 as my wife was from there. First home was at Rowlands Ave off Deans road, then we moved to the Scotlands on Barry Crescent. My son and Youngest Daughter were both born at New Cross hospital . The Scotlands, Low hill and parts of Bushbury were a bit rough back then but I must say I never had trouble with anyone in the years I and my family lived there. We moved to Huddersfield i the early eighties , but my wife still has family down there.
Born and raised Wolverhampton now live Birmingham but I'm in Wolverhampton most days. Yes there are some really bad parts but, and I say this as a genuine compliment to Wolverhampton and NOT for roadmen to take offence to, but Birmingham is on another level. With Wolverhampton and also the wider Black Country, there's still a local pride and friendliness and once you're not involved in anything you'll be just fine. Birmingham is a hell hole where even the innocent are in danger and the youth are totally lost, just pure evil. Wolverhampton? I enjoy walking even around the worst areas and yes don't be stupid and keep your wits about you but I'm not constantly watching my back like in Birmingham. Trust me, I'd move back to WV tomorrow if i could.
Whole heartedly agree that Wolverhampton has quite the crime rate and could do with some more support from the higher-'ups, but to highlight a city/town on crime alone is a one-sided view. There is so much more to this city than what you've highlighted. If it was so bad, myself and others wouldn't have had the fun childhoods we lived.
Yes, I agree. I mentioned in the video that Wolverhampton has a lot going for it and some awesome areas, but the purpose of this video was to only look at the bad areas in isolation. I think some people assume I’m trying to ignore the good points of the city, but it’s not that at all.
I live in London where there are far worse areas, in terms of space and environment. Just wondering whether the problem lies with the people rather than the place 🤔
The thing that’s forgotten about London is that there’s still huge investment within the city, although there are bad parts there is WAY more opportunity. There’s been very little investment in Wolverhampton and the neighbouring city is Birmingham, the city with the highest gun crime, that all leaks here as well. Nothing to do with the people, just no one cares about this city.
To a degree, but I used to live in Birmingham and London, as a whole, isn't the land of milk and honey that some might suppose. Take a look at Thamesmead.@@randomsmiles1470
It's the people. I've talked to old folk from Aston Birmingham and they've told me it used to be fantastic in the 50s and 60s, then something changed...
As an American, this video taught me that British hoods are structured differently. It could be a nice looking housing estates with various immigrant groups and rampant with crime.
There is a HUGE shortage of housing. It is not like Sweden where everyone has a place to live (the hoods as you are alluding - literally no housing here in the uk). All races places and spaces are mixed and Wolverhampton does NOT have racial tensions. But it was granted city status which means little. The Midlands is very geographical, it has no coastline, but food is plentiful. The drug wars are between all possible racial suppliers of all possible nationalities of all possible concoctions. The drug wars are because the cash has DRIED-UP.
I grew up in Wolverhampton and my youth was in the 1990s. I know the Low Hill area well and it is probably the most deprived areas in the country riddled with generation after generation of people who originated from the slums of Wolverhampton. Those ancestors were rehoused in Low Hill following the clearing of the slums only to move next to other new residents from less poverty.
Yeah Low and the Scotlands, i preferred Low Hill but i just stayed on Third Avenue to get down to the shops and the library when I needed it, I lived just off the cannock rd, I found the scotlands shops rougher but maybe that's just because i was used to low hill
If you grow up in wolves you don’t realise how dangerous it is 😭 I class wednesfield as a nice area, spent most of my time around the dumps you’ve mentioned but it’s home
@@The_New_Abnormal_World_Order only dangerous if you acted a certain way, I’ve never had any issues in the 30 years I’ve been here, just depends on the person you are
Hope you enjoyed this video! If you have any feedback or comments, we'd love to hear them! Do you live/have lived in Wolverhampton or the surrounding areas? Whether yes or no, your feedback is valuable to the audience, so please feel free to share.
I lived in a tower block. There was no violence in the area, and very little crime (non violent) in the city itself. I could walk around until very late, and even until early morning, and feel completely safe. Never heard of any muggings or violent assaults in the city. I really miss living there. I must point out however, this city was in another country and not in the UK. It's a pity the UK doesn't have the same safe environment. I am now back in the UK.
Well yes, if you do not care for something it tends to fall apart. Not entirely sure why anyone would assume humans are different - Without care, empathy and support, you will end up seeing people fall apart too.
Wednesfield is far from the roughest area. Maybe because there are a lot of shops the crime rate is higher. From living in Wolverhampton my whole life and being a delivery driver knowing the whole city quite well I’d say 1. Low Hill/Bushbury 2. Heath Town 3. Whitmore Reans These 3 by far the worst but after that 4. Merridale 5. The Lunt (bilston) 6. Warstones But tbh I don’t think Wolverhampton is a dangerous place to live it’s more to do with poverty and petty crimes. I’d quite happily walk anywhere in the city at night, whereas london Birmingham Manchester no chance 😅
Thanks for that information, appreciate it. I did mention in the video that shoplifting made up a lot of the crime in wednesfield but wanted to stay consistent with the facts. I might go back in the future, if I do I’ll look at those other areas you mentioned. We just filmed in Dudley and Wednesfield South was on the list there but we didn’t include it this time.
Warstones rough??? Merridale too?? Holy crap things must have changed a bit since I left in the late 80s! Grew up in Penn Fields and actually walked to school in Merridale, it was never really rough but there were a few seedy looking bedsits and HMOs around. As to Warstones, I'm shocked, my Grandparents lived up towards the Penn Road but really only a quarter of a mile from the Warstones Road, it used to be just boring and although not well off, not run down or dirty either, people used to look after their modest semi-detached houses and gardens. What's happened there?
Spot on mate! Wednesfield has a lot of Wolves football hooligans but most of Wednesfield is pretty safe. Lots of shops and nice houses with nice cars attracts shoplifters, burglars and car thieves, thats the reason the crime rate is so high.
Its not safe on the roads in Wolverhampton either , twice I've had a near miss when pulling out of junctions because of the speed of the cars, they're going around 30 zones at crazy speeds.
I know Wolverhampton like the back of my hand, it is greatly improved, which is true anywhere, but the worst pockets are not really looked at here - Park Village (Prosser St/Crowther St/ Ellerton Walk), All Saints (Gordon Street/All Saints Road), Heath Town (Chevil Rise/Long Ley), Whitmore Reans (Leicester St/Staveley Rd), Pennfields/Graiseley(Lime Street/Merridale Street West/Fisher Street) , bits of the Lunt estate (Bilston), Castlebridge Gardens estate (Wednesfield), Hickman Estate (Wednesfield), and finally but certainly not least the Scotlands estate (Keats Road/Ruskin Road/Tennyson Road) which I think is the most intimidating unless its morning, raining, or cold (:-.. Having said that, 80% of people in all areas are good people, and it is unfair to call out the areas that they live in. But the other 20% can make their immediate environment challenging. Gone are the days when there was slum housing or boarded up streets, so on the surface even the worst areas in most cities do not seem that bad any more, i am glad to say
Appreciate you sharing that info. I tend to go with the offical crime stats as people can't always agree on what the worst areas are, but I know that stats only tell part of the story when it comes to hige crime and anti social areas. In some videos I included areas that locals have told me are defo the worst, but I couldn't get any good information on Wolverhampton before visiting. I will go back at some point through, and I will certainly visit all the areas you mentioned that I didn't already include.
@@ukexplored Cheers mate. Some crime stats are made worse by having shopping precincts (Wednesfield) or homeless hostels (West Park) nearby. You’ve looked at Whitmore Reans and Heath Town, perhaps the two obvious areas with gang problems. To be honest, these days most estates are a pale shadow of what they once were with lots of Government aid. Half of Heath Town has been demolished and there a few areas with rows of empty houses anymore. Same as everywhere. Also some areas like Park Village and the Scotlands come into their own on a warm summers day but can appear ok on a grey winters day. Enjoyed your review.
Hi mate, it used to be called Hickman estate, the Wednesfield tower blocks shown here. Low Hill would also once have been in the top 5 but its massively improved.
Ah right. Never knew it was called that. I've heard various names "Okement Estate, Torridge Estate...Wednesfield Estate". I go through there all the time. Still compiling my own list here haha
Chap we live in Wolverhampton, it's a Great City compared to a lot of Engand. I have never felt uncomfortable walking around anywhere in Wolves, The places you've filmed around City Centre like all Cities are bit rough yes but Wednesfield is not NO.1, We live in Wednesfield & its actually a great family place to live on the whole & safe, has everything without going into the City, all kids go out with friends or walk around alone, never really worried about them, Every school is new & rebuilt grounds play areas ( luckily before Tories got in & stopped school rebuilding project) Bentley Bridge is Huge has everything shops food restaurants biggest cinema in UK & all around the areas you filmed there's lovely even beautiful areas to live in Wolves Beautiful houses & areas as nice as anywhere & it's so green everywhere.
I used to live in Whitmore Reans, close to West Park and also Wednesfield. I could produce a map of Wolverhampton indicating which streets you should not got down after dark. The place does have a beauty of it's own though. Whitemore Reans - Got burgled, friend held at knifepoint at ATM machine. West Park - Someone kicked the front door in on the way home from the pub with his girlfriend. Wednesfield - Woman got hit over the head with an iron bar by 'travellers' and virtually scalped at local pub, never went there again. Constantly multiple police helicopters with search lights flying overhead.
I live in Wednesfield and you really have picked the worst of it, yes their are rough parts the same as other places but our street is lovely, we have fab neighbours and also the village has won Wednesfield in bloom for 2 years running. We are constantly being told to report every crime no matter how small (which a lot of us do) so we get allocated our fair share of police however I am not sure how beneficial this is proving to be.
Thanks for your comment, interesting to hear from someone living in the area. I tried to be fair with the knowledge I have; I did mention that a lot of the crime is shoplifting, I could tell there is some community spirit in the area, and there are some good facilities - and I'm happy to hear you're happy there and have good neighbours, that's crucial to a happy home life. I think it's also important to shine a light on the worst areas though, which I hope doesn't come across as negative, but I'm sure the council could be doing more to bring up to standard. I'll always remember my time in Wednesfield, if not just because someone walking out of the shops next to the blue tower block threatened to 'crack me' if I captured him in my filming 😂
Yes correct, and you also have Phil and Mary Bateman who are councillors in that area: both, people of integrity and values. Phil spends his days collecting old mattresses for the poor and destitute. Mary slaves over a hot stove all day baking pies: and the one,s Phil does not eat are distributed to the poor....what wonderful people. Both of these angels in human form, are potential Prime Ministers. I forsee the day, when Phil and Mary gallop into downing street on horseback, and Phil announces his arrival by smashing a medieval ball and chain into number 10s door. Sunak will scurry out, and into a taxi....giving way for a supreme statesman to take the reins. After a rousing speech to the millions outside, he will take that first step, in a long journey to that elusive land of milk and honey, where there is no want, and everyone owns their own mattress. And on that long lonely journey if this gentleman comes across a snail in distress.....he will move it to safety, that just shows the calibre of this fine gentleman, and Mary will assist in the rescue of this small creature if need be. We are indeed blessed to have these fine human beings amongst us, people who history will record......will be our finest leaders ever: akin to Churchill, and Alfred the great. I say a little pray each night, that this great hope, will indeed be realised, and Phil and Mary will turn the UK into a paradise on earth.
The reason you're being told to report all crimes is because Wednesfield is currently under Special Measures to try and get the crime rate down to an acceptable level.
I really think you need to do the research again because clearly you havnt done it correctly, to say wednesfield is number 1 is absolutely laughable. I live in wednesfield and actually u filmed my home by walking past, i have never had issues where i live and the house prices are expensive compared to the other areas u have stated are not so dangerous. The other areas u have stated are more dangerous than wednesfield. What about, heath town, park village, low hill, and dunstall, i know these areas are worse and havnt made the list. What an absolute cheek!!! Clearly sound like a privileged person looking down on areas, prob never even lived here!!! Instead of paying big bosses in councils to sit on their arses doing nothing and overcharging people council taxes and robbing the poor maybe crime rates would come down and re-open facilities for youth and initiatives then wouldnt be so much poverty around. No matter where you go will always see level of deprivation and crime!!! Thats life unfortunately!!! Waste of a video in my opinion and very biased.
Thanks for your video. Whilst I realise you've taken the time to look at the stats I need to pick you up on West Park. The stats here are skewed due to the fact that it hosts a lot of events that attract a lot of people and where you have lots of people you have a lot of crime so that's why the figures are like they are. Saying that I was kerb crawled at 2pm on the edges of West Park once when I was 19 lol. Also Wednesfield isn't really a suburb of Wolverhampton it's a town in its own right that happens to be in the borough. I used to live in Whitmore Reans as a student and I absolutely loved it. Very Asian, cheap rent, close to town, staggering distance from the pub. I think I paid £15 a week rent in 1987. Happy Daze
I lived opposite the Newhampton pub throughout the '80s. Loved it and the area. Pub was like the United Nations. Woe betide any visitor with any racist problems, They soon learned they were unwelcome, lol. You certainly spelled "daze" appropriately! Imagine, a former HA playing bowls out the back...😊
Yeah I’ve heard about the reputations of those areas, not sure why they don’t feature on official stats. A lot of crime in certain areas doesn’t get reported, I know that much.
I’m just going to say that my friend lived in West Park in one of the high rises in the video. I swear to God it is one of the loveliest places you could wish to be. I used to visit several times a week and I used to love those days.
I grew up in Wednesfield, on the Linthouse estate. What’s happened to the “village” is shameful. Such a shame, but I still don’t feel unsafe there, strangely.
Used to work in Chapel Ash - West Park was a favourite lunchtime walk. Always thought it was a nice area, until I parked my car outside West Park one day and saw someone shooting up in the car parked next to me.
The sports hall, as you put it, in Heath Town 5 mins into the video, was actually Heath Town baths, i was a regular at the gym, part of the gym fraternity.
Ajwilkes4700 -about 40 years ago The Scotland's had the best residents association in Wolves. They sorted all their problems with swift decisive action. They also got more funding for youth facilities and organisations than anyone else. Big up Scotlands
Many places in Wolverhampton are swamped with drugs and mental health problems. Coke is rife and gang violence is the norm. The amount of litter and people who have nothing to do all day is shocking.
I LOVED Wodensfield Tower, was my first flat when I was 17, 2 bedroom too and the crime was still about nearly what it is now 25+ years later ... but the local pub loved my music from the 10th floor ;)
I've worked in Wolverhampton since the end of August last year (2023). On my way to my interview, I had the pleasure driving though Whitmore Reans and came across a forensic tent in the middle of the road with a dead stabbing victim under it. I've worked in Wolverhampton previously, so I sort of knew what to expect. As with all areas, there are some nice areas and some dodgy areas. The dodgy areas are probably among the worst in the country through.
Yes, it's crazy, it's like they think someone will just come along and pick it up for them. On a serious note, a lot of councils will pick them up for free or something like £25 - but so many people would rather just leave it in their front garden.
At 12 minutes: How in the heck do you get an "average house price in excess of 200k" if the place is such a shit hole? And "you can pick up flats for less than 100k" like its a great deal. Have people in the UK lost their minds?
It’s due to location as wolves is close to Birmingham so it’s ideal as the housing cheaper then Birmingham so the only thing you need to worry about is transport which isn’t hard to get. Wolves transport system is very good and up to date.
Even tettenhall has gone down the tubes over ten plus years folk who've made few quid moved out the 96% gutter areas an that's one of four decent areas I can think of that is now populated.
Its definitely a dangerous area Wolverhampton, I've seen gangs of youths dressed all in black looking like a swat team going on a mission near the city centre.
I lived in a town called Bilston and I agree with what this video is implying, however, I can say that all these places alternate with crime as in the nineties Heath town was very dangerous and adopted a name which was Fire town. You can imagine why it was called Fire town. Now around Wolverhampton every one is under cover, meaning most crime is not reported. Please stay safe every one.
I was born in new cross hospital and are still in Wednesfield at age of 58 and your video is miles awayfrom being factual, I have grown up in a safe environment and without trouble. I work in the area and have never seen the area a tip like you are showing. I have visited cities across the country and seen far worse. If you are a stranger to the area you can pretty well walk the area safely even in darkness. If you go looking for trouble you will find it not unlike any area in the uk.
I got beaten up in West Park as an 11 year old girl in the 90's. A boy punched me in the face repeatedly in an attempt to steal my sunglasses. At school a teacher slammed my sister's desk on her hand and broke her finger. Wolverhampton was a sh*thole then and it sounds like nothing has changed.
It’s when persons smoke weed in a confined space so they get to ‘enjoy’ the ‘benefits’ longer. The kids I saw had a window open a little bit, probably so they could breathe, and the thick smoke smelling of weed gave it away.
As someone who isn’t from Wolverhampton but have been through plenty of times and stayed at my grandmas house as a kid I believe it’s no worse than other places in the uk - got some bad parts that are run down heath town and got some decent parts compton castlecroft merey hill etc- got a great football team too utw
As a person from Wolverhampton I can confirm some of the nicest people are from these areas and I feel like you targeting a place that these people probably hate living there to is just awful you shouldn’t target someone’s living conditions because your doing better that’s awful
I lived in Wednesfield, until I could afford to move out that is, I can concur. I have known of people being stabbed and shot and also a few murders. The high rise towers are known as "Heroin heights" locally. I rememeber one of the times we were burgled, the police said if you don't like it move out of Wednesfield! Multiple cars stolen from us. Some people will try to defend the place "it's not that bad", people who live there are savages. They seem to think that all the stabbings and robberies are normal.
@SHADOWDAEMON666 where do you recommend, I moved from the west country to be closer to family but now regretting it, but don't think I want to move so far away
Hold on how come in Wednesfield you did not disclose the ethnicity of the residents. It is because the majority of the people there is white. Areas like Sedgley is 99% white and full of drugs most middle classed areas are full of coke heads but media want you to believe it is areas of black or brown people that do it. Police vans are in many areas these days. Thats like me taking my camera to middle classed aress and saying they all racist These areas was worse in 80s and 90s. You would think its the Bronx the way how people report stuff here.
Naa lad it's because, why yes the higher classes are coke heads/kiddy fiddlers they don't actually cause the crime in their area, where the police need to be called. Trust me the world knows its a wealth issue and not a race issue. The media only show the world what they want you to believe. Plus they love to stir the pot. Sadly most of the general public are easy to manipulate. So when the media only show crimes being committed by black, Asian people. The rest of the country are going to think that its only those people committing crimes.. why? Because most are nieve people. Damn even some blacks have stopped liking their own race thanks to the media.
Interesting video bro , I find it can be interesting to describe any town my town Eastbourne east sussex classified as posh or upper class. But we have had the Armed cops here and big drug busts 1 mil £+.
I went to the University as a student and I used to love going to West Park. I remember jogging the perimeter once plus I would take photos (I did Fine Art) and would feel safe. I heard at the time that Whitmore Reans was dodgy so I never went. However, a few years after graduating the high profile murder occurred and it's put me off. Up until recently I would also visit Bentley Bridge (mostly to go to Tim Hortons) but after this video I'm not sure now.
I have a plan to visit Wolverhampton June 2024 for 1 week, I was student at Wolverhampton college of Technology 1957 to1961 this video scares me ??? can some one who lives in Wolverhampton now tell me about this video is it true? I really want visit the city in June.
Its sad to see that there are places who are dangerous around the area there . Thanks for showing us around my fren. Very informative video . I like your Channel 👍 I wish you more success . Watching from Austria🇦🇹
I don’t feel like I have misrepresented the area. The official crime stats have Wednesfield as the highest crime rate area in Wolverhampton, and South Wednesfield as one of the highest crime rate areas under Dudley council - and I filmed the highest crime parts of Wednesfield as a fair representation of those stats. Of course there are nice parts of Wednesfield, that’s the case with most towns and large areas.
I used to live in Willenhall and those tower blocks are visible for miles around....I must admit I'm astonished wednesfield was no1...didnt go there very often but when I did it struck me as a decent place...heath town is worse surely???
Yeah, there is no doubts that it doesn’t work. It’s either cost effective, even with the additional drain on the local police, or it’s the council pushing the problem onto the police to deal with.
I've lived in Wednesfield my whole life and I'm 60 years old ,it used to be a lovely place to live until every empty house was filled with immigrants now it looks like Beirut,if you fill a place with foreigners that don't work you get deprivation in abundance,my hard working daughter has been on the council for 10 years and has never been offered a house 😢😢
I can honestly say on approaching Birmingham/Coventry/Wolverhampton I just can’t help the urge to keep my foot on the gas and keep driving until I’m off the M6 and far away from the midlands,, I used to love going to brum as a kid I had family down there, how times change, it’s a shame,
I feel exactly the same. I have to drive to Coventry from Belgium to visit my parents, as soon as I leave Dover the journey just gets more depressing. Favourite moments were watching groups of young mothers in the supermarket wearing their dressing gowns and slippers. The deprivation and apathy is palpable, fortunately I get to come back home.
Not moving to Dunstall Hill are you? Joking 🙃 Thanks for that honest unbiased comment - too many people pretend that I’m crazy and these areas are a safe utopia! Wolverhampton is a nice city overall, but like all cities, there are some rough areas, eh.
Just looking at those two areas and some news reports - wow. I would definitely like to take a look around in person, I’ve added them to my list of places. Thanks very much for taking the time to share that information!
I can only go on the reputation that the lost city holds but if you're seriously considering going to Lye I would make sure your "fight or flight" comment that's was said somewhere else in this thread that your flight is like a concorde. Seriously scarey, we lock our car doors when we have to drive down the High Street. Please approach with caution my friend. But, there are/were some amazing places to eat.
@ukexplored awesome I'll definitely check that video out. Lye has basically been used as a dumping ground by dudley Council they've moved hundreds of roma gypsies into the flats on the High Street in recent years that's caused most of the problems in the area it used to be known as the balti belt for all its Indian restaurants which has mostly shut down due to customers being to scared to come down and kids coming into the restaurants begging. If you go to Dudley make sure you check out wrens nest (the wrenna) which is not only a dog rough estate it's also surrounded by an amazing nature reserve with caves.
Probably the least appealing area I've seen on this channel so far. It's clear that certain demographics are comfortable with extreme levels of discarded waste. RIP Viktorija Sokolova.
Yeah, it was the most hostile area I’ve filmed so far for sure. Cultural differences in areas make a huge impact, and it’s something not often talked about openly. One small thing I noticed was that dog crap was all over the place in Heath Town, but in Blakenhill, an Asian area, I didn’t have to watch where I stepped because they have very low dog ownership. But the fly tipping and sheer volume of household items dumped in front gardens and on the road across all these areas is just obscene.
@@2tapped-sc1oq not for crime, no way, easton has a lot of somalis and druggies and is a bit of a tip, but wolves is much worse. ive lived in both for years
I lived there from the age of 20 as a female alone. Walked everywhere any hour of the day or night..no worries. This guy is scared of flats. I suggest he doesn't come back. After all...that silver tongue really wins friends and influences people
I live south of Whitmore reans and west of west park and its like the Lebanon of the 90s, its a god awful area, constant police and ambulance sirens day and night, the only intrest the council has in this area is how much tax they can screw out of the local population. On the shit area scale it scores 35 out of 10.
Obviously the 'bloke' isn't from the area & virtually all his filming is of the rough town centre (arnt all urban town centres like this?) Wednesfield is only top of crime rate because there are lots of shops and a retail park plus lots of middle class housing estates that attract burglars and car crime. Violence is very rare, put it this way you wouldnt want to be walking around Whitmore Reans or West Park in the daytime let alone the night!!!
Wednesfield was lovely when i was a little girl ,mattox road my nan lived in and it was a lovely ,quiet road and area ,the peasant was a lovley stroll with ahops and the villiage .😢
I am from London and I have lived in Wolverhampton for 12 years. yes it has problems. but the government just don't care. l have been excepted as a local man here now and I love the place. cockny.
Agreed 👍
It ain't that bad.... When you've grown up there.
Who needs national media when we've got all these great content creators!

I hope the police managed to find those two furry assailants - maybe they're responsible for some of the crime numbers in the area!
@@ukexplored The 3-legged ginger cat got ran over by a Land Rover a month later (It wasn't me - I don't own a Land Rover)

Bentley Bridge shopping area has lot of crime issues I believe.
Hes only fimed right in the centre which is pretty rough. Lots of middle class areas he went nowhere near.
plus it not a suburb, it's a town in its own right.

Excellent film young man.
Why, thank you, kind sir. Good day to you.
Enoch Powell used to be the local MP.
He predicted all of this.
His predictions have come true, and the problems we have now probably surpass even what he predicted
@@iearl504 Agreed.
LOL
Enoch was right.
The Lunt is a place where a stranger would be well advised to stay away from.

If RUclips provided awards to hand out for the best comments, I’d give it to you, sir.
Ima be honest with you lad west park and reans are the same area
That’s fair. The way official crime stats are grouped is often a bit strange, to do with the areas different sections of police cover I’m guessing.
Just thought that 😂
Well, you can easily add the Vauxalls in there too.
You know what Whitmore Reans means? A bit more swamp. Says it all.

Excellent video. You’ve summed up Wolverhampton perfectly I’ve moved away 10 years ago and would never come back to live there.

I think some people assume I’m trying to ignore the good points of the city, but it’s not that at all.
grew up in Willenhall and had the best childhood.
I live in London where there are far worse areas, in terms of space and environment. Just wondering whether the problem lies with the people rather than the place 🤔
I’ll stay impartial. But the stats leaves clues doesn’t it. 🤔
I blame the liberals. Bring back National service.
Since they built the police station in Low Hill it got a lot better
If you grow up in wolves you don’t realise how dangerous it is 😭 I class wednesfield as a nice area, spent most of my time around the dumps you’ve mentioned but it’s home

You should do more areas in and around the Black Country and Birmingham, would be pretty cool see
Yes, I'm going to, parts of Walsall look like a war zone on Google Earth 😀
If you over populate a city or town with people from third world countries, your town and city will also become third world 😮
There you go again blaming it on the immigrants😂
This is why no change will ever happen
Well yes, if you do not care for something it tends to fall apart. Not entirely sure why anyone would assume humans are different - Without care, empathy and support, you will end up seeing people fall apart too.
Wolverhampton had rat infested slums run by slum landlords a long time before the people from 3rd world countries came.
What about the slums in Victorian times🤔
The problem is decades of incompetence and lack of investment from the UK gov. Not migrant workers
Wednesfield is far from the roughest area. Maybe because there are a lot of shops the crime rate is higher. From living in Wolverhampton my whole life and being a delivery driver knowing the whole city quite well I’d say
1. Low Hill/Bushbury
2. Heath Town
3. Whitmore Reans
These 3 by far the worst but after that
4. Merridale
5. The Lunt (bilston)
6. Warstones
But tbh I don’t think Wolverhampton is a dangerous place to live it’s more to do with poverty and petty crimes.
We just filmed in Dudley and Wednesfield South was on the list there but we didn’t include it this time.
i lived near Warstones it's not really bad down there
I'd add pendeford/dovecotes to that top 3

It's Staffordshire thats in special Measures not West Midlands, and crime figures for Wednesfield have dropped in the last year.
Imagine, a former HA playing bowls out the back...😊
Low hill / Bushbury / the scotlands should be on the list
Yeah I’ve heard about the reputations of those areas, not sure why they don’t feature on official stats. A lot of crime in certain areas doesn’t get reported, I know that much.
Half the crimes are probably families robbing each other
I’m just going to say that my friend lived in West Park in one of the high rises in the video. I swear to God it is one of the loveliest places you could wish to be. I used to visit several times a week and I used to love those days.
I love hearing positive things about the places I cover, thanks for sharing!
I grew up in Wednesfield, on the Linthouse estate. What’s happened to the “village” is shameful. Such a shame, but I still don’t feel unsafe there, strangely.
I spent over 5 years working on the Heath Town Estate carrying out pest control duties and I enjoyed every day there ❤
Used to work in Chapel Ash - West Park was a favourite lunchtime walk.
What happened to low hill & scotlands? Definitely worse than Wednesfield
Yea, I’ve heard of Scotlands. I wonder why the crime rate isn’t as high as the areas I covered. Maybe a lot of crimes aren’t reported.
Definitely true and it depends which part of Wednesfield you live.
Ajwilkes4700 -about 40 years ago The Scotland's had the best residents association in Wolves.
They sorted all their problems with swift decisive action.
They also got more funding for youth facilities and organisations than anyone else.
Big up Scotlands
I've lived and worked in wolves all my life been in many of these places and never had any trouble.
Nice vid man. go Harehills, Leeds.. might not make it back though
I just googled that area, I’ll need a stab vest for sure. It’s not even amongst the top 5 worst areas in Leeds either.
What about Beeston ,I hear it's dodgy especially along Dewsbury road 😮
Haha if it was that rough how did he make all this video up
Many places in Wolverhampton are swamped with drugs and mental health problems. Coke is rife and gang violence is the norm. The amount of litter and people who have nothing to do all day is shocking.
I LOVED Wodensfield Tower, was my first flat when I was 17, 2 bedroom too and the crime was still about nearly what it is now 25+ years later ... but the local pub loved my music from the 10th floor ;)
those towerblocks need some good quality cladding
I've worked in Wolverhampton since the end of August last year (2023). On my way to my interview, I had the pleasure driving though Whitmore Reans and came across a forensic tent in the middle of the road with a dead stabbing victim under it. I've worked in Wolverhampton previously, so I sort of knew what to expect. As with all areas, there are some nice areas and some dodgy areas. The dodgy areas are probably among the worst in the country through.
You missed Pennfields. I'm very offended 😆 🤣 😂
ha I just looked it up, seems like there is some action going down in Penn Fields, the area doesn't come up on Crimerate.co .uk though!
Pennfields isn’t that active anymore
What's with all of the abandoned settees and chairs in front of house on estates in this country?
Yes, it's crazy, it's like they think someone will just come along and pick it up for them. On a serious note, a lot of councils will pick them up for free or something like £25 - but so many people would rather just leave it in their front garden.
They’re for chilling out on a summers day
Jonathanaikman2285 - it's called cultural enrichment and diversity 😊
At 12 minutes: How in the heck do you get an "average house price in excess of 200k" if the place is such a shit hole? And "you can pick up flats for less than 100k" like its a great deal. Have people in the UK lost their minds?
I too have been flabberghasted working in a factory here in the Midlands. I ain't gonna get a 100K mortgage!
What is music playing bro please
Its definitely a dangerous area Wolverhampton, I've seen gangs of youths dressed all in black looking like a swat team going on a mission near the city centre.
HT POSSE 😅
I hate the youth of today!
Could you do Erdington?
Scotlands deffo top 5
I got beaten up in West Park as an 11 year old girl in the 90's. A boy punched me in the face repeatedly in an attempt to steal my sunglasses. At school a teacher slammed my sister's desk on her hand and broke her finger. Wolverhampton was a sh*thole then and it sounds like nothing has changed.
Diversity such a gift
Whitmore Reans shocked me - had to go for covid jab there & it made Bilston look flash ! I live next to Park Village
I lived in reans for a year, while i lived there a guy got shot in the head in that pub you showed, i got mugged twice also, once by those shops
Cant believe no scotlands mention even the cats carry knives round here
As I was/am a very local resident to that estate, you are spot on. Ignorant voyeur tourist attention seeking scandalizing stuff.
This is what happens when your government puts self-interest above public benefit.
pardon my ignorance, but what is hot-boxing?
It’s when persons smoke weed in a confined space so they get to ‘enjoy’ the ‘benefits’ longer.
The kids I saw had a window open a little bit, probably so they could breathe, and the thick smoke smelling of weed gave it away.
As someone who isn’t from Wolverhampton but have been through plenty of times and stayed at my grandmas house as a kid I believe it’s no worse than other places in the uk - got some bad parts that are run down heath town and got some decent parts compton castlecroft merey hill etc- got a great football team too utw
Got bantock park and west park too nice green areas - bad areas give it a bad rep but no worse than towns near me like boro and hartlepool
They seem to think that all the stabbings and robberies are normal.
fucking A !! :D
Did you move out of wolves?
@boeingbwoy Yes.
@SHADOWDAEMON666 where do you recommend, I moved from the west country to be closer to family but now regretting it, but don't think I want to move so far away
Yes round the areas filmed it’s rough, but it’s quite a big area.
Thats like me taking my camera to middle classed aress and saying they all racist
These areas was worse in 80s and 90s.
Yeah, some say the white collar crimes we don’t always hear about are more damaging, and it makes you wonder.
It is ... stick to Tettenhall & Penn
When i heard the word diverse i always think that means very few white people.
In today's British society it unfortunately seems to be correct
😂
It does mean that. I wouldn't vall Blackburn, for example, diverse. It's just Pakistani or white.
Heath town looks really rough
I wouldn't even get out of my car in these areas!
We know it as "fire town" really is the danger zone
Its sad to see that there are places who are dangerous around the area there . Thanks for showing us around my fren. Very informative video . I like your Channel 👍 I wish you more success . Watching from Austria🇦🇹
Thanks for taking the time to leave a nice comment like that. Glad you enjoyed the video, have a good day!
You have badly misrepresented Wednesfield with your footage. You have only shown the worst of it but there's a lot more to it than that.
I also lived in Willenhall and Wednesfield being the worst is utter bollocks.
you would think it was time to demolish all these old tower blocks around cities
God! The UK is so depressing.
Parts of the UK are, absolutely, there are some nice areas of course! 🙃
They barely register on the nasty scale compared with some of the areas around Houston and Baltimore.
It's really not. You could make videos like these only highlighting crime in any city in the world.
I've lived in Whitmore Reans for 6 months now and I do not recommend it to anyone 😂 I'm currently moving out
Not moving to Dunstall Hill are you? Joking 🙃
Thanks for that honest unbiased comment - too many people pretend that I’m crazy and these areas are a safe utopia!
Wolverhampton is a nice city overall, but like all cities, there are some rough areas, eh.
Bruv I've lived 3 of these places 😂
Which was the best and worst?💪🏻
If black country urban decay is your thing I'd recommend Lye high street or the lost city in Tipton,
Just looking at those two areas and some news reports - wow.
Thanks, my friend, we’re actually going to Dudley and Lye High Street this Saturday, I’ll keep that I’m mind! 😀
@@ukexploredvery open minded and youve hit the nail on the head which for someone who does not come from here is testement to your judgement
Nfw I'm from Wednesfield you have this wronh
You can look up the crime stats for yourself, how do I have it wrong?
Anybody knows the soundtrack from the Heath Town part???
I used to live in easton, bristol
Wolverhampton is way, way rougher.
Your crazy Easton is way worse then any wolverhampton area
Wednesfield used to be considered quite “well to do”.
let's go wolverhampton
I can show you around if you want, I know these areas pretty well now 😂
@@ukexplored XD
Wednesfield was lovely when i was a little girl ,mattox road my nan lived in and it was a lovely ,quiet road and area ,the peasant was a lovley stroll with ahops and the villiage .😢
I am from London and I have lived in Wolverhampton for 12 years. yes it has problems. but the government just don't care. l have been excepted as a local man here now and I love the place. cockny.
Spot on mate, I left in 84' I can hardly believe those home valuations as no one has any money.
Don’t get me started on how honest, working class folk are being priced out and greedy landlords are buying up properties; it’s sad.
Wednesfield is almost a town in its own right, it’s about 3 miles across, sure the areas that you have filmed are not the best, but most of it is ok.
