Yes, most cars in India come with NCAP 0, but the scene is changing and changing quick. We now have homegrown brands offering 5 star NCAP. Now coming down to mods - well one of the easiest way to circumnavigate the rule, while purchase ask manufacturer or showroom to do the mods and get papers registered with that. Eg: I bought a Renault Triber 1st gen (NCAP 4) in 2019 and changed to wider tires with OEM alloys (trick being I used OEM alloys so no one can compain), added additional noise dampner (under hood not visible), changed pedals (again inside car not visible), changed engine oil to full synthetic (5W40 shell helix Ultra), car suspension TPU buffers (not visible), TPMS, Door weather protectors and PPF. As long as one does not make chasis mod especially body and exhaust which is visible no one will catch you.

This was interesting... I was wondering if your team can look into the Hindustan Motors: Ambassador. My dad used to have one when I was growing up there. Then it was stolen by a local smuggler and the police found it a few months later completely stripped.
I haven't looked into the car much but as far as I know, it was Indian designed and manufactured.
I looked on some Wikipedia articles. Apparently the Ambassador most people see in cities (as personal vehicles, not taxis) today are NOT ambassadors, but instead Fiat Premiers. It's been a few months, but the main difference in looks was a joint front (driver + passenger) seat in ambassador, whereas newer features like AC in premier. One was boxer and smaller (premier if I remember correctly) and the other was wider and bigger.

Here's the thing about laws in india. Nobody gives a toss. If you get pulled over by a policeman , just pay him 500rupees and bingo!! He never saw you.....
As an Indian who is also a petrolhead, I’d love to let you guys know that the underground car scene here is just bonkers. People do mods like headers, straight pipes, huge rims and tyres all the time. It’s basically a matter of hiding from the police and having enough money to bribe them in case they do pull you over.
Edit: I would also like to add that we are hugely into custom designed wraps, and crazy paint schemes. Though most cars are basically what you'd call ricers because they usually do not have any performance mods on them, they do have quite a few visual modifications like splitters, wings, diffusers, blacked out tint and what not. This is mostly due to the fact that performance mods are expensive and inaccessible to most people out there with not too big pockets. But whatever little we do, gives us immense joy and pleasure to customise a car and truly make it one of a kind.
A shame it comes down to bribing police. Best of luck with the reversal of the law if it can be done

also, fails to build good quality roads
I hadn't been to India but I saw videos of trucks driving like maniacs, with small cars zipping around them at blind corners on a two way "high way", I live in yemen and it is really really bad here but we don't have government or police, Idk why indian roads are still too bad
@@bassam_salim the 2 way highway must be i the sahyadri ghats or the northern mountain regions as these highways are in the mountains and building 2 lanes for each side is a really difficult task. if you want to go anywhere east from mumbai you have to cross these mountains and which have a shit ton of hairpin bends. i had once been to a place with around 70 hairpin bends continuously and trucks cant get material for making roads to these places. the video you have seen must either be from mountains like these or rural areas for the bad roads as nearly every city has good roads with potholes around the outskirts when its monsoon
@@bassam_salim "why is it so bad"
Well my dude. I would love to tell you but it's a chain of corruption, money laundering and ignorance
Car enthusiasts should protest and create a political party for next election
And the law didn't even let me change the exhaust of my 911 Turbo !
As an Indian I can attest to all the info in this video is true and to the point. Great Job
Finally Donut media realising how to increase the viewership count😂
donut found the way to crack the algorithm,

Like they don't had it in past
Came to comment this exact thing😂
"It's kinda weird to think about a Dodge as an import"
Europe: *allow us to introduce ourselves*
Exactly 😂👍🏻
When you live in New Zealand and EVERY SINGLE car in the country is an import....
You go to eastern EU like Poland and Hungary and american muscles like challengers, mustangs and camaros are kind of popular as import, mainly because there aren't stupid taxes around power/displacement yet like in rest of EU
@@seigma5340 Yeah, i live in Poland and one of the most popular sports cars are mustangs.
Glad I live in Canada. I had my turbo RSX-S inspected and it was lowered and turbocharged without a cat. The only reason is because of tint on the front window but the cop ordered a full inspection.
Just a few days ago I saw a modified bright yellow1998 Mitsubishi 3000GT getting impounded in Bangalore, India and the owner threw the man out of the tow truck and released his car! No cap
As a Czech dude, I really appreciate that you tried the "real" Škoda name and pretty much got it spot on :)
Shkoda
@@metaltyre4894 Yeah, thats how you pronounce it:D
Fakt že jo, až jsem byl překvapenej:D Snad nejlepší vyslovení škody, co jsem od Američana slyšel:D
...
Absolutely, i was even surprised:Dd It was probably the best pronouciation of "Škoda" i've ever heard from an American:Dd
Skoda gang!
We love Skoda here in India
Guy in jail: so what are you in here for?
Me: I put a bumper sticker on my car.
I'll allow it.
It's the same thing in my country Kuwait, I have a sportscar and i would get stopped and ticketed on a daily basis because i have a small decal or added a spoiler on my car. let alone performance mods.
Law: no modding
Ashok leyland lorrys:

Oh damnnnnn 🦫
India: bans almost every car mod
Mauritius: hold my coconut water
Yeah, I've been to Mauritius and drove a Kia Soul for a week. Nice place, but no Chinese cars? I did hear from the car owner that the tax on cars are insane over there. Paid almost double what we would pay for that Kia here in South Africa.
@@Rouxenator so almost $40k US for a Soul? oof
I've visited it once. I did not see a lot of dealerships except Toyota😂
@@Tarv1 that’s the price in Switzerland

"Ma-Ru-Tea" , "Du-Tea".
The way you pronounce the above two word is so Hilarious!!!!!!!
3:09 they're lucky that they only need to pay 2 times the price, in my country you need to pay 4 times the price to get a car that isn't imported by the government
I’m from india and this no mods rule really bites!
I played this video out loud in front of my aunt who’s a judge in a high court hoping to may be start a chain reaction. There you go Indian car fans, do your bit!
Ma manhhhhhh😂🤝
That won't work. If your aunt is CJI, then it will.
Doing the lords work. 🙏
here in arunachal people mod their cars swap engines and many more idk how though
As a person from India, i actually didnt know that we CANT do shit to our cars.
True 😂
I tend to need foreigners to make an explanation, cuz it's so hard to get complete and conclusive information from local sources. But that's just me
@@bloocookie1 naah bruh... Every law is very vague. In Kerala they recently passed a law that anything that is distracting to the driver is illegal... This could include things like deity and shit on the dashboard... It's up for interpretation by whoever 😂
@@abhishekanil99 what about kids in the back seat? I guess they are illegal now too.🤔😆
Because we are broke thats y
The only thing we can do in name of modifying is father's gift or no girls (stickers).
But some people do heavy modifications , i mean so much modifications that car cant even be recognizable. Car that are modified can be seen on street sometimes.
Thank you for answering my question about why we don't see camaros in Kolkata
