  • The 2024 F1 Austrian Grand Prix certainly didn't hold back, especially towards the end with Lando Norris and Max Verstappen making contact while trying to secure the victory! But were the track limit rulings fair, or should more penalties have been issued? Bryn Lucas chats with Alex Kalinauckas and Filip Cleeren to discuss the McLaren x Red Bull controversy, Russell's ability to grab the win and more.

The British Media will cry me a river for the next year or so...I like Lando, and yes Max could have done better...but there is a reason he is champ...and Max didnt lose he win...even with 10 second penalty, he finished 5th and is still leading the championship 😂😂

Before starting this video I will say, the British media are going a bit overboard. It's like they have been saving up all these video, clips and magazine articles for the first time Max has contact.
Have you guys cleared your "Max cheated Lewis" folder out now?

British takes on f1 are just so plainly boring and predictable.
    We want exciting races
    We want safe overtakes
    We don’t want dangerous driving
    We want closer battles
Could you be anymore plain than boiled peas?
And on Max, penalty was deserved. But you would have gone absolutely batshit crazy accusing Max of orchestrating Dresden 2.0 had he divebombed the way Lando did.
“Only one questionable move from Lando” my arse.

Yo.. you either count Lando’s track limits or not. If you get lenient with that, then be lenient with “moving under braking” because it can be considered “hard racing.”

I keep hearing things like “Redbull cracking in the pits”… I find it wild to blame the team for a wheel not wanting to come off the car. If anything it was a fluke of luck at a bad moment.
Edit: Max hasn’t said anything since post race where he said he wanted to see it, he never said “I did nothing wrong”. You guys are assuming it. Pretending this is 2021 is absolutely laughable, the pearl clutching from the F1 (Brit) media over this is so pathetic. Max was in the wrong and it was entertaining as hell… but you whine when he wins and when he races too hard.

I cannot speak for "Brit Bias". All I can say is that we live in a society that thrives on negative polarisation. Make of that what you will but to me, everyone's opinion can then be construed as some sort of bias - objectivity is no longer considered relevant, all that is important is that the emitter is always right and everyone else is wrong.
Coming to the lap 64 incident, MV was "victim" of the very tactics he has used against his adversaries with impunity ever since he was admitted into F1. Not only, the FIA and F1 have even created "rules" specifically as a result of some of his actions which are considered reckless (though not necessarily dangerous) but certainly unnecessary. The problem here is the ENTITLEMENT he has developped over this time , and, of late, since he has largely been unchallenged ( having the best car mostly, but certainly also his undoubted skill), he bitches about not having some proper racing competition. When he has his wish granted, he resorts to his tried and tested tactics that rightfully got him the title CRASHSTAPPEN. We have more than enough evident to this effect, regardless who you support.
I am a Mclaren fan and have been so for more than 50 years. Mind, I am also of a generation that seems still capable of discernment - possessing the ability to put ones biases aside to be capable of objectivity. I was very critical of Sennas early antics, Michael Schumachers openly underhandedness and of course, LH's often questionable reactions and these are not exclusive, there are others over the years, James Hunt amongst them. I never lost the notion of fairplay and call out non respect for this even if it is "my team" being the culprit. This weekend, 3 of my favorite 5 drivers were deservedly on the podium. MV is not one of the the other 2 although I do recognise his talent.

I don't mind the dive bombing of norris nor the defence of max, because i like to see some racing. If Max was penalized earlier in 2021, he wouldn't have done all the things in 2021. Monza2021, Brazil 2021, Saudi2021, AbuDhabi 2021.
or the Austria 2022, or with Lando in June 2024.
2018 Baku, moving in the breaking area led to a crash with Riccardo.
The conclusion is simple: Max must be penalized and reigned in when he transgresses the rules. Max is a dirty driver. We've been saying this for years.
What did Norris say about 2021? 😂😂😂😂. He didn't think Max was over the top against Lewis😂😂😂😂. Today he's feeling it😂😂😂😂😂😂. This is a lesson to all fans, just support the rules & truth regardless of who benefits. Otherwise you start to look like a hypocritical as Lando will be shown to look. Those video interviews will resurface where Lando didn't think Max was over the top.
When Lewis stood his ground in Silverstone, we saw where Max ended up. If everyone drives like Max, someone will get killed.

12:43 false. There are track limit penalties because running off the track here allows you to recover. If instead of white lines there were gravel traps, violating track limits means your car is beached. Those limit penalties are imposed so that there's an actual penalty.

  • @simxcenter

track limits violations and time penalties apply in situations where a driver is gaining a lasting advantage. giving a driver a time penalty for simply going over the line, and then immediately handing the place back (thus losing the place gained and all time) is the dumbest thing i've ever heard 11:01

I want to hear a clear definition of “moving under braking”. The term is so vague to me. What actually qualifies? Does it mean changing direction in the braking zone? Then that would mean there needs to be some level of steering input. Do we measure the steering input and say anything over a certain threshold proves guilt? Does it mean that you have to stay perfectly in line on the track like if you enter the braking zone with one car length on the left and to car lengths on the right then you have to maintain that margin till the end. So this would be to say you are not allowed to enter a braking zone at any angle?
Everyone seems to have vague explanations for this. They just say “moving” under braking. As long as there is such a vague grey area, we will continue to have the issues

Hello gentlemen, Happy to observe that Autosport has analysts that understand common sense, leading an objective analysis in consensus, which lacked to one of my favourite race analysts in the person of Peter Windsor, and saw F1 Liberty Media divided, although in fairness Will Buxton seemed more justly authoritative than in the past, and Jolyon Palmer's analysis was way less 'hypocritical' than that of Alex Brundle. Congratulations for your work in integrity! Considering that Max Verstappen has a huge past of this bullishness [2015-2021], the penalty feels a bit like a mere slap on the wrist... but with a poor 'bible' on the FIA side, and politics saturating the air...The FIA needs an authoritative chairman!
