Their cars just sucked. A small engine like that should especially be fine at high rpm. My 650cc motorcycle sits at 8k rpm comfortably on the highway and those kei engines typically handle lesser rpm easily too.

When buying a kei car, you *need* to basically take them apart and look over everything you can before driving them on the regular. In Japan, there’s a huge scene for performance kei cars, and they handle constant abuse and track days just fine, because the owners take care of them and keep up on maintenance and inspections!
Hey remember that time you didn’t do proper maintenance on 25+ year old cars that were sold at auctions in Japan for a reason and expected them to last.
I feel like this is what life should be about. Having enough money to do things you love, have financial security to do that, and a steady job to balance it all. People say having money isn’t everything, but it’d sure be nice to atleast have enough money to not worry about what I love to do

Kei car Japan Japan is a island basically with mountains and low speeds and small areas unlike the USA also in square miles of land Japan is slightly over 1/4 the size of Texas which can take for ever just to get across. But mostly the engine is not built for non stop all out and or high speeds for long periods of time. Kei car is more of a stop and go city car. But you might have had some luck with the industrial built kei trucks but not sure
How do you blow up a Subaru kei car, actually I can guess jt wasn’t maintained cause when the coolant gets contaminated and sits it eats at the head gasket, asssuming this subaru kei car had a boxer, I’m not familiar with the kei car engines, only the kei vans. But yea any boxer engine with dirty coolant thats been sitting for a long time, the head gasket will weaken

I own an American "K", actually two of them! Making a channel for them soon, 1994 Plymouth Acclaim and a 1992 Plymouth Acclaim! Both with the nat. asp. 3.0L V6, one with an overdriven 4 speed the other with a 3 speed, I've clocked one at 180kph and the other at 155! Stay tuned because working on retuned Mitsubishi tech is pretty difficult in 2023
