He was also sexually abused at school by a teacher. His family seem to have been terrible snobs who were more concerned with appearances. Cannan ended up with a toxic mix of rage, self entitlement and narcissism.
His genuine belief that he thinks he is highly intelligent and has morals simply highlights what a psychopath he is. He is so pathetic and fake in how he speaks and presents himself I find it unbelievable that anyone could have been taken in by him...not least the dating agency boss !
The girl that had the gun put to her in her car, who got away, gave a good description of Cannan in a photofit, and the police said he has a distinctive look.. however, the photofit given by a witness in the Suzy Lamplugh case looks nothing like him, nothing like his distinctive look!!!
There was no evidence to link them, I don't doubt they would have wished there had been. Only an irresponsible press who will print anything and in fact does print everything to sell papers. They don't care about anything else.
The police have found evidence that Suzy Lamplugh had been in the car owned by Cannnan at the time of her disappearance, and have stated publicly that they believe he is responsible. Cannan has said that he knows who abducted and murdered Suzie, and that it's the same person who murdered Shirley. I expect he knows better than anyone that that's the truth.

He was very angry and if you Google it, he commented on this in 2018. Also, as he said, he is angry that Canan was able to reoffend.
I suspect he has had major problems dealing with it all and it's really damaged him. A lot of people go into a massive state of denial when something like that happens and can seem quite odd. It's a coping strategy more than anything.

She was kept alive for 18 hours - I would presume she was dead by the time the alarm was raised? If the earlier aborted incident had been tied in with this missing woman and the police had a list of known offenders in the area maybe she could have been saved - what was all that about a woman calling for a taxi too???
I simply find the Dating Agency boss' appraisal of Cannan unbelievable.
