@@theunspokentruth5987because people who get life sentences remain permanently monitored in the community no matter when they're released. There is a separate "whole of life" tariff for keeping people in jail for all their lives.
You can see the difference between the old Crimewatch reconstructions and the more modern crime documentaries here. I hate how more modern filmakers sensationalise a real-life murder by adding dramatic music, overly dramatic narration and shots of knives. Feels really disrespectful.
Totally agree with this I am unable to watch so many crime shows because of this factor - all I need is the story and the facts wrapped in a dash of respect for the victim
Hate the use of the overblown and constant dramatic music even through the talking head interviews in the follow up program and the urgent tone of the narrator. The older programs were so much more respectful, serious and told the story better without cutting every 2 seconds. It is all so American influenced and gets worse year after year.
Why oh why didn’t the neighbour call the police on this weirdo when she seen him loitering and as for the woman whose house he tried to get in I have no words . So strange .
30 years ago when I was a new young mother & alone with my very young son, a cold caller came to my door & something was just off about him. He was really pushy, said everything he could to try & come in to talk to me. I told him that it would be best if he spoke to my husband but that he wouldn't be back for an hour or two (with hindsight I should have said in a minute to scare him off!). When I eventually got rid of him, I looked out of the window, he wasn't cold calling at anyone else's door. He just sat in his car outside my house. He made me feel so uneasy that I called the police & gave them a really good description. I told her how scared I was because I was alone with my baby. He never did come back at the time I'd said my husband would be home!
I think they were desperate for leads at the time, and under pressure to stop the case going cold because of what happened with the Yorkshire Ripper case.
He should rot in jail. RIP Wendy, So sad when a fine human being is murdered brutally and the killer is going to get free hot meals, hot water and the rest. The law stinks.
Keep him locked up and throw the key away what a same that happened to Wendy xx my names Wendy and your mum my girls are my life and I have 5 grandchildren all girls xx 😘 I wish your mum had that chance to have the same but we no that man took that chance away for why his own ends keep on loving your mums memory xx 😘 for ever xx 😘
This MAY be a foot-fetish (there's plenty of guys with that) but I don't think this was the primary motivation in these appalling crimes. If this guy had a foot/women's shoe fetish why not just get your partner to wear them or a prostitute who would be more than happy to wear high heel shoes and act out any fantasy he had. I think given he bought a cheap pair of random shoes from a charity shop this was more about controlling and degrading the victim maybe. It may have been a tactic he deployed to relax or get her off-guard, put these on, do what I say and I won't hurt you etc. It lowers the fear in a victim somewhat and she may think well if he's asking me to do this maybe I can get out of this alive if I do what he wants and excited by interested in my feet and shoes. He fully intended to kill every victim regardless and even stole their shoes to continue the same tactic with other victims.
Surely a death sentence would be a certainty he would never be released, so people who say oh I don’t believe in a death sentence, then say he’d be a danger to the public and likely kill again when released doesn’t make sense.
What a stupid comment. A) he's never been released. B) if people who get life sentences get released, they are closely monitored in the community for the rest of their lives - that's why it's called "life". C) he's an old man now. He's not going to be killing anybody.
@@zeddekaIt's not a stupid comment. He's trying to get parole, regardless of his age, he's probably quite capable of murder. Look at Sydney Cooke, he was released in his late 50's, early 60's and went on to murder again.
Why on earth was he only given 18 yrs minimum sentence??! That's ridiculous after what he did!! He's too dangerous to let go - and why should he be! 18 yrs for a murder like that is nothing! He would get longer now.
Why would you ask a Psychopath..."why did u do it"?? I find this question offensive to my intelligence "WHY?" Because hes a sicko. Psychopath, who( like other fellow psychopaths). DONT need a reason
Just checked in Wiki-as of June 2023 still being denied parole
Thanks for checking and letting us know
Thank you! And GOOD!!
He was denied parole 2023 thank god
No women will be safe if this guy gets out.
Truly astonishing that he could be released in a few years time. Such crimes should be a mandatory whole life sentence IMO
Yea why call it life when it's not .

Poor Wendy .. horrible world full of nut jobs everywhere . Rest in peace dear x
Not sure why they need to find the person who donated the shoes to the Charity shop...??
R.I.P Wendy 🌹

B/c they might want tae exclude evidence or get leads, could b numerous things.
Exclude finger prints/DNA?
Probably anything to keep the case moving I'd guess dna more than finger prints

Thanks for this...the lady playing Wendy was on series 1 of Phoenix Nights
She also did a advert with Peter Kay, about putting her in a old people's home, so he could put a snooker table in her room ❤
Thinking of you Tracy , I remember this heartbreaking story . He should have been put to death . Sorry for the loss of your beautiful mum 😢❤️
