There has not been a 16 car field in N/TF anywhere, in recent ( and not so recent) memory. Thank you Jim Young , Bob Mclennan and Custom Floaters for making this happen, and to Les Mayhew for capturing it for all of us to enjoy.
Excellent film Les, your cinematography and coverage are always top notch. Al Tucci, what a legend, one of the all time best. Cheers from Lynchburg, ed.
Pure joy. Can’t thank you enough Les. Brilliant work as always. What a wonderful community of Soulful racers. Takes me back to the So. Cal. 60’s. 🙏🏻💥🔥🏁
I'm a regular photographer at that track and this was a nice change of pace! When i seen the Black and Gold dragster the first thing i thought of was the old John Players Special road course Mustang model I built when i was a teenager.
I remember Emerson Fittipaldi (I believe it was him) driving the Lotus 'John Player Special' in Formula 1..one of my dream cars is the Lotus Europa in the 'John Player Special' paint scheme.
I know I this an older video but I can't believe that nobody is in the grandstands.Come on StLouis why are you not out there supporting these drivers.I am a big drag racing fan its great to see these nestogia cars vs modern top fuel cars.I am originally from Missouri and will be moving back from Texas soon,as I will be retiring. I plan on traveling to see these guys and plan on going to March Meet.
I know that drag racing has a deep and rich history spanning 70 years basically. And there’s a lot to digest for those that become announcers, but there are some names that should never go through a weekend getting butchered repeatedly and multiple ways. Sorokin(So row kin). Now go hit the books boys and learn about The Surfers! Prerequisite studies for every announcer from this day forward. Damn, I think I need to get back on the mic. Btw, excellent vid work, and your audio capture of fuel cars is the best I’m aware of(no easy feat). Thanks!🤘🏻
Well, great vid and coverage. Love the cars. Unfortunately, looks like they’re playing to a mostly empty spectator stand on both sides. Heck, I’d be there every moment.

Front engine, over the axle seat. Craziest ride ever. Glad to see it never died out.

Sir rock in
Love this more than a NHRA event.

what length is the track/
never mind
1/8 mile ?
Tire smoke, nitro fumes, and the driver behind the engine.......just the way it should be !
Al Tucci doesn't know how to pronounce Sorokin , or he just making fun of it
extreme??
It's the name of the series.
1/8 mile is just bullshit racing
