Les Mayhew's talents are a real gift to the Nostalgia Racing community. Every time he equals or surpasses his previous work... how good can it get?!!! Thanks, Les!
Les is such a great guy! He is extremely smart and understands how the cars work. I was talking shop with him before I knew who he was and he impressed me very much with his diversity of racing knowledge.
Damn I love these nostalgia races. There is nothing better. Almost makes you want to start crying you're so good. The good old days grassroots drag racing. I can't get enough of it and I'm 72 years old. Keep up the good work.
Outstanding effort putting this video together! This is the best video on this class I have ever seen. Excellent work Thank you much! I really enjoyed it almost as much as seeing it live.
Now every race fans know why Tony Bartone was practically unbeaten, they had a killer race car...if you don't believe, just watch Tyler Hilton drive that Hot Rod to some Championships
If only Don Garlits' clutch hadn't let go back in 1970. Then again, if rear-engined dragsters had never come into being we might not think anything of these cars.
For the most part, Front-engine dragsters pre-date rear-engine dragsters by decades. What is now known as Top Fuel used to be known as AA/FD. Rear engine dragsters became popular after 1971. In 1970, Don Garlits suffered a horrendous explosion at Lions Dragstrip (an iconic photo) and during his hospital recovery, he designed his next dragster with the engine behind the cockpit. Front-engine dragsters have seen a resurgence in popularity and race 1/4 mile or 1,320' and put on a great show for the fans.
Best thing of all is that despite the engine "chingo a su madre" (flew to hell"), the guy is in one piece, safe and sound. Very impressive to got those pants burnt in a short term of time. I'll say it again, the very best is he's in one piece, safe and sound. Even the engine blown, it was hell of a race. Kudos and greetings from Mexico.
Great work Les! I can’t thank you enough for all you do for the sport. I can’t wait to burn Nitro with you again. 🦾😎🤘🏽from Your brother from a different mother Nick Holm. Keep up the great work buddy

Nitro Sling Shots don’t suck!
this is the only drag racing I watch anymore, feels like 1965/'66 to me
Wow, wow, wow!
Awesome cars. I love the old slingshots most. Are they running a 1/4 mile here?
@ 5:55 - Wow! The combination thing. Interesting.

Why aren't TF drivers seated in front of the engines as before?. When did this practice change?

That's my buddy Mike English. I've known him most of my life
I have a sprayer set up to spray the rear driver side tire of my opponent with silicon.they lose everytime.

He has a bad back
