    Goals are good, but you should be flexible. May I respectfully suggest you rethink not attending the farmer's market at all in June and July and, instead, go one time each month. This brings you in front of the people so they don't forget who you are. You can market your roadside stand (if you have one) and when you'll be back the next month. It still gives you a big break. Smart idea to scale back to what you can sell plus 20%. This way you have enough in you end up with more customers! You'll be fine. Trust in God that you will be. Edited to ad Liatris is a perenniel bulb that is great for cutting. They come in white or purple and are spike flowers. Super easy to grow...just throwing it out there for you.

    You go girl! 😁. Great goals. I have a home garden and started selling just what I already grew.. As the money came in I bought more seeds and made my borders larger to accommodate. I have always made a profit with hardly any outgoings, just gift wrapping materials, seeds, compost, business cards etc. It can be done! Marigolds... I grow the tall Kees Orange. Goes great in bouquets with white or purple. Dries fabulous too, and popular. I think this is your year... Will watch rooting you on 🤗

    Thank you for sharing! I’ve watched your channel from the beginning and your goals sound great! Remember too that the microbial life will really be kicking in this year so your flowers should be resilient and strong. I am not flower farming this year but am growing lisianthus and strawflower to see how they do. I grow most of the others you grow (the summer ones) on a small scale and love them. Just not ready to go bigger but love watching your channel! Wishing you the best in 2023!

I'm having fun rite now utube is not gonna get me to be on the get what she has or rush rush I have to keep up with utube to get paid! Utube don't pay alot of money plus you have to pay TAXES on that income and alot of utubers don't pay and than there really screwed with IRS. I'm not selling yet but my day will come!! I feel you and resonate with everything you said. My first year, last year was fantastic by first year standards coz I tried to sell everything like crazy doing 3 markets a week...but honestly, this year I am being extremely stingy with my expenses. No extra seed shopping, reusing what I can, even using broken trays and pots, cutting down on my varieties to what really sells in my region....Flower farming costs a bomb! To break even is a monumental task. Better start small than big.

    • @monicamaria2966
      @monicamaria2966 Год назад

      Are you using leftover seed from previous years? You could just use what you have, for example, if you had pro cut white lite sunflower seed leftover, just grow what you have left…it shouldn’t be any additional work and if you already spent the money on seed, might as well grow it 😊

    • @bertharios7413
      @bertharios7413 Год назад

      Very good point 👉. I should do that too. I being buying seeds as crazy from Johnny's. To be honest. Some are not germinating. sad lisianthus exemple .or ranunculus eated by mole. We should hear Lisa Mason Ziegler .more often hahaha. She grew annuals only for several years

    • @surusgarden5136
      @surusgarden5136 Год назад

      @@monicamaria2966 Yes! I am using all my leftover seeds from last season. So far so good. Everything has germinated. Although they did take a tad bit longer (for instance last year everything germinated in 3-5 days..this time some varieties are taking a week or more)
      I spent hours making an inventory of what I had. Some are off my list ( love them but not going to be able to make money). I do have boxes of saved and dried flowers in brown paper bags but haven't really had the time to harvest them. Also due to cross pollination, they might not be true to color.

      @@bertharios7413 Oh! How I have fought temptation this season!!🙄
      I put everything in the Johnny's cart every other day and then just walk away😝. Last year I grew more than a 1000 ranunculus but even though they were very popular, in my zone, without a high tunnel, I had to resort to early spring plantings and only about 300 were extremely productive. For this season, I cut down to only 400.

SC zone 8A. starting to send up shoots. Also started snapdragons, feverfew and yarrow in fall with good spring results. The cold took out straw flowers and calendula even with the coverings. Good luck this year!

    I would also recommend maybe doing giveaways for people to share you out on Instagram and fb. And giveaway a bouquet a week. People love contests.
    Or a bowl at the stand where people sign up fir your email list and weekly chance to win a bouquet.

    I really gain a lot from your video's. I'm in my first year and having some hard learned lessons already, some by mother nature others by me. My tulips and daffs this year came all at once, heat hit and boom they were open with short stems, UGGG. Did salvage some for a farmers market, not enough though. Another big one is I did not plant enough 6 weeks prior to last frost, relied on plugs too much, which got order shorted! Can you let me know where you get your market bunch wraps?

    • @45jessiemad
      @45jessiemad  Год назад

      For my market wraps I ordered craft paper off Amazon and cut them myself. I did order pre-made bouquets from Johnny's select seed but I'm not a fan of them for market. I only use them to store my tulips.

    I'll bet you will find scaling back on the number of flowers won't affect your bottom dollar at all. You only need to sell enough flowers to create enough bouquets to meet your goal and it looks like you are. I don't grow nearly as much as you and I can easily surpass your goal of 2,000 profit.

    Great Idea about selling extra filler. Love it. I think you did awesome and your honesty was needed for those of us that just have too much on our plate.
    I am an antique dealer / trying to sell flowers. This year I scaled down the flower portion for bouquets and concentrated more on pre-selling plugs. That has worked out so far and recouped money invested in seeds. But my goal this year is my RUclips Channel @vintiquity and hopefully get to 1000 subs before the end of the year. I have started selling on a new venue so hoping that brings in more people.
