I think with the desert flyer, it needed a bit more stiffness. the lack of sideways lateral grip could've been from how soft it was setup, and also the mix of slightly too much power

I have found that the CC8S really wants to be rwd. It just doesn't have the down force to turn in like the CCGT. It ends up just being a power build though and not a competitive one either.
