    This chap is correct in everything he is saying, he didn't go into huge detail, but what he said made sense. Unfortunately here in the uk internet stores have put the local skate shop out of business. One of the best upgrades you could go for would be urethane bushes suited to your weight and skating style, this wasn't covered though.

    I wonder if there is a seminar about skates that we can attend so we can learn how to properly fit and recommend skates, etc. This has really taught me alot. I was going to try to buy my new plates and fit them myself, but I think I'll have the pros do it.

      I know this is old, but for future reference, as long as you buy plates off a reputable skate shop (online or through your local rink), all you have to do is ask about sizing. Tell them what boot you have and the plate you're interested in. they'll know which size you need in that model.

    I am working on a pair of quads for a friend, she had a hard time skating on them, so I bought some new Bones reds, all was fine till I see that from new , they had no pivot cup bushings, have you ever found that error? Name plate has Chicago with a patent number, 20 year old skates, I skateboard and could not believe people could forget to put them in! Great video!

    I need a helmet. I've been wearing a skateboarding helmet which is slightly too big. Is there any difference between a derby helmet and a skateboard helmet.

    • @cameronbell6232
      @cameronbell6232 8 лет назад +1

      +Jessie Fox There isn't really a difference, you'll find a lot of companies that sponsor derby leagues/events also sponsor pro skateboarders, S1 for example

    I'm sure this skate tech got WD40 and Liquid Wrench confused with one another. When I worked at an amusement park, we lubed roller coaster lift chains with the gallon cans of WD40.
    Liquid Wrench would do as he suggested, since it's a terrible long-term lubricant.

    • @fistinair1979
      @fistinair1979 8 лет назад +1

      +Kellan Meig'h WD 40 is a de-greaser, not a lubricant

      I think you had better read the label of a can of WD40. It is far from a degreaser. It had been a lubricant from its inception.
      From their website: "Known as "the can with thousands of uses," WD-40® protects metal from rust and corrosion, penetrates stuck parts, displaces moisture, and lubricates just about anything."

    • @MrMbland
      @MrMbland 7 лет назад +2

      WD40 is a lubricant , but it doesnt last once you start skating and your bearings heat up .That is why you cant use it on your skates, unless you want to spray your wheels every lap of the rink . ;)

    In Australia you would just ditch your skates and buy a new set cheaper than replacing wheels and bearings etc. Then again thats everything in Australia, blow your engine on your car ya scrap it at the auto wreckers and replace the car cheaper. You only fix anything out of pride and as a matter of teaching your children that things can be fixed, usually after watching you spend $300 to fix some busted old $200 skates they think you've gone senile and the value of the lesson is lost.
