I think athletic people forget how frustrating being not physically fit can be when playing a new sport, because someone who's in decent enough physical shape has a much easier time picking up a new sporting pastime.
People who aren't very athletic or physically fit can get extremely frustrated when trying a new activity because they're basically immediately tired after the first 15 minutes, and you can really tell how tired and winded Shane was getting by the time they even got into the derby track. With that being said though I've heard roller derby is an extremely physical sport you need to be in impeccable shape to play in.

Woes is definitely one of the coolest guests they've had on this show. Honestly, it's so impressive that she managed to deal with both of them at the same time AND teach them something. And she was so supportive

This is why I knew the racing episode ryan was going to win before I even started the episode. Ryan has an athletes mindset, and, he's athletic. Its also been mentioned all over watcher how competitive Ryan is. Shane? He is clearly none of those things, nor has any desire to be, and thats relatable af.
i love seeing shane and ryan encourage each other when they get nervous. it just reminds me that no matter how bad they pick on each other, they're always gunna be besties deep down

I've known that Shane is tall, but it wasn't until this video that I truly saw how long his limbs are. Poor guy wobbling all over the derby rink with his slenderman limbs lmaooo Oh I love these two

It's not Shane's height that's getting in the way- it's that his femurs are super long compared to his tibia. Any activity requiring a hovering, stable squat (that derby stance) would be hard, and snowplow braking (essentially a single leg squat when you shift your weight to one leg) would be impossible. The cue "keep your butt underneath you" would actually make him topple since it puts so much weight behind his COM. Long femurs are thought to be an advantage in cycling though! I felt bad for him this whole video cuz he probably just thinks he's bad at "physical sport things"...It's not your fault buddy!
I can't imagine teaching him to full squat in the gym...
He just needs to straighten his back! I have a couple girls on my team built like he is and the second they kept their back straight they stayed up easily! All it takes is proper stance!
I think anyone can learn anything with practice despite how they are built.

Woes was such a good teacher!! The excitement of her “you picked a cheek!” She taught them so much in one lesson and didn’t get annoyed when they made jokes or got nervous. Loved it 😊

Shane is so sweet during this ep. Sometimes I forget just how good of a friend he is because they both show caring through banter and occasional heckling, but he was so stinking supportive this time, it was adorable.

I feel like with most sports (aside from some obvious ones like basketball) you're jut better off being small and sturdy. I'm lanky like Shane and have a terrible time with sports because I always seem to fall over and hurt myself. I've broken more bones than my short friends too :(

This video actually got me into rollerskating and roller derby. Even tho I'm more that a foot shorter than Shane, I heavily related to him in this vid. The hardest thing about rollerskating is you can't really take a break from bending your knees, or you seriously risk falling. It's basically a continuous squat, and if you over-correct leaning backwards or forwards it's so hard to not keep going in that direction. It's seriously fun, but for a true beginner the learning curve is much steeper than in other sports/hobbies.
I really never realized just how long Shane's legs are. What a Slenderman of a man. It's terrific
