- Extended version of the theme that plays on the route before Victory Road in Gold/Silver. Seeing as this song is one of my all-time favorite songs, I was surprised that it seems nobody else appreciates it. Ah well, most of the route music in Pokemon is overlooked anyways. Anyways, naturally I'd extend it, seeing as to my knowledge nobody else has.

To me this is the best route soundtrack in all of Pokemon. I grew up on Silver (after limited experience with Yellow), and in those days where Internet was more of a luxury, I had no idea Kanto was even a thing in Gen 2. When I first got the idea to Surf in New Bark Town, I had no idea what to expect.
But then... OH SNAP.

same man, biggest (plot twist?) in gaming history for me as a kid. Who would expect there's new whole huge ass region? best endgame content ever.
@@Bos_Meong Right? I just hung out in that little bit of Kanto I could explore without Waterfall for a long time, taking it all in and looking forward to my future adventures.
No post-E4 content in a Pokemon game has ever hit the same way since, at least for me.

Grew up with gen 3 onwards, but when I visited GSC I felt like this is most "Pokémon-ish" route theme . It just has everything; adventure, an upbeat feeling , nostalgia.
It was thanks to Iwata that we heard this song. RIP Iwata, we're all so grateful for what you've done for us.

Summer 2001, I remember Surfing east from New Bark Town and encountering that guy. My heart skipped a beat when he shouted at me "DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU JUST DID!?" I thought I discovered a secret area of the game.
When you heard this, you already felt like a Pokemon League Champion

Hands down my favorite track from this game. Felt so epic the first time I listened to it and still did in HG/SS
I still rememver so vividly how happy I was as a kid when I learned you had to explore Kanto! >w< I found out by accident before you were supposed to go there, and I was like "HOLY SHIT NO WAY", I was so happy! >w< Even back then, I thought it was too good to be true and you'd only get to explore a small piece of it; the post-game proved me wrong! >w< A big thank you to Nintendo, Game Freak and Iwata for making those awesome moments and memories happen! >w

GifCream it’s the nostalgia. Most nostalgia gives a sense of longing which can feel sad, but it’s not really. You can kinda get the teary eyes, but it’s not off sadness, but happiness from a certain point in your life. From this though I’d imagine it was childhood for you as it was for me so I feel what you and just about every other viewer feels while listening to this. :)

I smiled the second I heard this music along with the guy saying I was where I started my pokemon journey 3 years ago.. Kanto.. But that wasn't the start of it.. due to a certain trainer who's been missing..
Still get the same feeling from this music as I did when I first heard it, played through Johto, never did I think we'd be revisiting Kanto! Combine this with the epic Kanto Gym Leader theme on these games, and you have such epic nostalgia.

I will always remember summer 2001, when I first heard this. I truly felt like I had accomplished a great feat.
In 6th grade a classmate told me that in the new games just released in japan, you can travel back to the world of the first games and that Gary was the final gym leader and Ash was the final boss. he said he already beat the game on a emulator on his dad’s computer. I didn’t believe him

Reading these comments is funny to me. I first got silver second hand from my friends older brother and he had a completed save that I didn't want to overwrite so i started off in viridian city with my badass snorlax and went straight to the pokemon league, not knowing it was the end of the game. Then I explored for a while and in the same way many people here were shocked by the fact they could go to kanto, I was amazed by the existance of johto. Very strange to be relating to some of these comments but in the exact opposite way.
This is my favorite theme also! It sounds like you are traipsing up the stairs of Mount Olympus or some other fabled city of champions.

I've been replaying Crystal during this week. I started right after replaying Yellow.
I got to this point this morning, and even though I've been through it several times...this was the first time it felt so nostalgic. I almost shed a tear.

5 years old me was shocked when my older brother screamed out of joy after he found out that kanto region is playable in GSC. Haha good times, good memories. Gen 1 and 2 will always be my favourite generations 😊

I mean, isn't it wonderful that you can travel to other regions after you've conquered the one? When I started playing Sapphire( Gen 3), I really wanted they include Johto and Kanto regions, but it never happened :(

I remember playing this game and getting all the way over here. My only pokemon that was eligible enough for the elite four was my starter. That is why you always level up your full team.
