Frodo : I can't do this, Sam. Sam : I know. It's all wrong By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened. But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something. Frodo : What are we holding on to, Sam? Sam : That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.
I wanted to cry after reading this! Sam is so underrated as a character Frodo was right I love him, but he was right when he said he wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for Sam
I am kind of depressed these days about life and having no friends, but when I listen to this magic, I am no longer a struggling student but a tiny Hobbit in the Shire, reading a book under the tree. Edit: it's been over a year since I wrote this comment. I am much better now. I am happy. Thank you, guys! Edit 2: I am going to college! I am going to Illinois Tech to study computer science. I am so happy I can't describe it to you. I will let you know from time to time about my life :) Edit 3: I am fine ig. There is a lot of crime around me. The constant news-flashes of Indian students being killed doesn't help. College is okay, made some friends, and its mostly chill.
I also don't have any friends. My family is very overprotective. But there is no problem go with your life live like you want work hard, ignore taunts. At the end,its your life.
I'm sorry you're depressed. 😢 Just remember, you're a miracle and you don't have to do anything to impress people. Do your best. Be your OWN critic, but not unrealistic or unreasonable. Just because someone says something negative about you, doesn't mean it's reality. You do you and let people do theirs. I love how you said this music makes you feel and what you imagine. I imagine the same thing. Sometimes, when I hear this music, especially "Concerning Hobbits", I see myself sitting by a warm fire in Bilbo's house, drinking coffee and either talking to a visiting friend or simply by myself observing the peace of a warm and comfortable refuge. Stay strong my friend!!
The film was recently screened again in Vietnam, and I had the pleasure of watching The Return of the King on IMAX. What an amazing experience! Back here listening to this beautiful music and feel very happy.
The comment section is definitely peaceful as well. Everyone connects and shares their cries from this masterpiece of a song, we talk and celebrate the memories that Lord of the rings has shaped to make us happy children. For that I am eternally grateful to Tolkien
My father is 76 years old. He has NEVER been into the fantasy genre in any sense. Over the last 15 years, I have tried numerous times to get him to watch LOTR with me to no avail. This past Christmas, I was able to FINALLY convince him to sit down and watch at least The Fellowship Of The Rings (extended version) with me. Within a 5 day span, we finished ALL 3 Extended Versions and my 76 years old father was in tears by the end of it and thanked me for sharing them with him. He told me "I haven't enjoyed a journey like that in a long time".
Haha similar incident happens with my roommate in clg. Before a holiday break, I downloaded him all 3 lotr extended edition clips, although he wasn't much in fantasy but he promised that he would "look" . A week later he returned as a LOTR nerd. According to him, he began watching fellowship to see what it is before going to bed, ended up pulling a whole nighter, finishing all 3 in one go.
Cool, bro. I am imagining his emotions from the end of the "Return of the King", recalling my emotions of it... First watching of this masterpiece it's just something what hard to hand over to somebody else, without a watching this movie by him(her)self
Virgin "If you think there's a happy ending then you haven't been paying attention" Martin vs Eternal Chad “There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.” Tolkien
This just makes me want to run into the woods and gaze with reverence at every living tree and plant. Lying in the moss and looking at the greatness of the universe at night. Magnificent
No matter how much we deny it. This is true. By looking at suffering and loss of others we don't want to left our comfort. This was the essence of this preposition, i believe.
I guess because the hobbit is the part of our human self which represents life. and since this music sounds fresh, blooming, growing, the message of life is being transported by it. Hobbits like to watch things grow. Life is growing, death is decaying. And home is something pure, we carry it in our hearts, it is the things we love dearly in this life.
I’m from Ireland, and it really is like the Shire in some parts of the island. I just wish there was some way to stop the mass industrialisation of the world. My soul yearns for a more ancient time. I can see why this was one of Tolkien’s biggest fears
Remember what Bilbo used to say, "Its a dangerous business, Frodo. Going out of your door. You step onto the road and if you don't keep your feet there is no knowing where you might be swept off to."
As we grow older we realize that a peaceful life like that of the shire is what we really desire. Simple work, coming home to a warm and merry atmosphere, and sitting down on the porch with a cup of tea and pipe weed. The life of a hobbit is simple yet wholesome
@@BunnaySango For me, this serie will never be LotR, never be part of the history of Middle Earth. I just hope they won't make too much damages. How dare they touching to the best movie ever, destroying it.. It's a shame.

A beautiful choice, it's so wonderful that J.R.R Tolkein created a masterpiece that transcends generations. The musical score of LOTR is just as beloved as the original Star Wars music.
@Thomas Borduas I know what you mean. I was emotionally numb for such a long time. Only recently, I could come back to these nostalgic moments from childhood.

When I first saw the movies as a kid, I must admit that I didn't quite like the Hobbits and their 'foolish' and 'uninteresting' lives. 20 years later I finally understand, that it is not a bad thing, my friends, to live a simple and peaceful life.
Amit Kumar I firmly believe that Sam should've been the ring-bearer. He always saves frodo, he sticks his neck out for him, and he even sees through gollum's lies and deceptions. He is honestly more brave and capable then frodo, who almost always gets captured.

I told something similar once to someone, long ago. I met someone who did bad things because she wanted to die or supress herself to not have to live. I met her because some people wanted me to stop her since they saw her as a monster and didn't like more people dieing, note they didn't even ask me to stop her but just asked me to come, quite much like a walk but took me there, made clear to call them monsters and knew they would attack(the girl they wanted me to stop was the leader of that place but there where more), or well it was long ago, so I don't remember them or that walk much anymore, I remember that girl however, and our encounter, and I knew what they where. eventually we got into a fight, or something like it. not much of a fight was needed, since she figured out what I am and also that I am strong. I know I describe it weird now, but there is much more to this world than many people know. those people had reason to call her a monster, and she had reason to do what she did, but the reason she used to do it wasn't that, neither a good one, and she didn't absolutely need to, even less so that much. she told me something like: "I just wanted to eat/feed so I could rest." for she could not rest, and was aware of that, in her eyes she had been for long, in my eyes she still was young for she was just old enough to realize it, but not yet old enough to have learned to understand it or handle it. she did notice quite rapidly what I am and that I am like her, but much older and much stronger. she also noticed she could not win and reacted kind of sad and scared, which showed she didn't understand herself since all she wanted was to stop being. she would ignore the other 2 and only talk to me, since she still saw them as worthless, because they where humans, and she looked down on them as having no value, due to more reasons, be it their weakness, them dieing and dissapearing so rapidly, but also what she did to them. and I was and am like her. and trust me I also felt and saw that, ofcource I also knew it, but next to that with creatures like us, we have strong empathy even if we sometimes hide it, which is also why we so often hate or seem to hate the weak ones because we feel all their pain, it is often not actually them we hate, but the pain they feel and even more so which they inflict on themselves and those around them, often in very crude slow parasythic ways like opresion and emprisonment. but there also is another form of feeling between people(creatures) like us specifficall, since that is much stronger than our normal empathy, but also understanding since I obviously have also experienced what she has and had experienced. and what had driven her mad and to lose herself. I had also discovered those things, had to face them, had the suffering and greatness. but in my case I had experienced them so much and for so long that by now and long before already got the perspective to handle them. I learned the importance of things and to go through the veil behind which everything suddenly makes a lot of sense. even though I do not actually remember anymore ever being before that veil, since for what I know I have always felt and understood it and been able to handle it, as I have always been like this. because once beyond the veil one no longer ages or changes other than things they learn, experience and discover. in the end only adventure and fun maters. but back to the story, I didn't actually stop her in the way those people wanted, since they wanted her gone, but I did not do that. since after all she was like me. and finding those like me is very rare, and back then I had been alone for long, ofcource I have had many such times of being alone, it is hard to explain this simple and shortly, and in general unless you are like me you won't know what this is and how it feels.while it is a good thing, it isn't strange that it might drive many people mad especially if they are new and wheren't always like this. I just disrupted her feelings, and vision, the delusions she had forced upon herself. by telling her I feared the ethernal sleep, with which I didn't reffer to death, but to nothingnes. but as I mentioned before empaty between my kind is much stronger so even with such simple phrases we can communicate the entire real meaning and understanding through feeling. I also learned a lot like this from my friends, which humans would probably call angels or elves. next to that it was even more shocking and effective, since she had always been alone, and yes she had those other 2, but she was by far much older and stronger and had experienced and knew a lot more than them, they just followed her, and looked up to her, but she never had anyone to look up to or to learn from, I was the first she ever found who was more powerfull, and so it obviously shocked her a lot to hear me say that, which would wake her up, since deep down she also didn't want only nothingness. the corruption makes it seem that way, but it only does so by trcking and manipulating peole and making them lose sense of themselves. Time can heal and change many things, but in ethernity there are also many dark times to overcome. I just said that and left for then, those other 2 also couldn't do anything since she could easily defeat them, I am pretty sure of that even if they worked together, they would not come close to her. I left and hoped to meet her again in some future, but then good. since in the end, in most cases evil can be cured, or just won't remain, because only those with weakness can be evil. I have met and encountered many similar cases over the ages, many of which now are the ones who protect all.
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort. Thank you Tolkien for being such an influence.

I pay tribute to this masterpiece all along this existence, in the next one, and the ones ahead ! By caring this feeling and giving it to people : some would called it joy, peace, incredible beauty, profound state of being 🙏 Nam Lord of the Ring ya !
I’m so lucky that I got to perform with Orson Bean (the voice of Bilbo Baggins in the animated version). It was heartbreaking when he died, and Ian Holm shortly after. They will both be missed.
"In a hole in the ground... There lived a Hobbit... Not a nasty, wet, dirty hole full of worms and oozy smells... This was a Hobbit hole, which means, good food, a warm hearth, and all the comforts of home..."
Tolkien actually wrote that on the paper of a student who was in his class....one of the greatest series of books in the 20th century started when a bored teacher decided to kill a little time before the bell rang!
Me, just moved away from home and to the other side of my home continent. It was for the best, but I deeply miss home. Listening to this and closing my eyes makes me feel like I’m sitting back home in my families living room, drinking a warm cup of coffee. It’s very mentally soothing 😌
What do you mean ? Do you mean to wish me a good morning or are you saying that it is a good morning whether I want it or not ? Or perhaps are you saying that you feel good on this particular morning ? Or are you simply stating that this is a morning to be good on ?

Sam: Do you remember the Shire, Mr. Frodo? It'll be spring soon, and the orchards will be in blossom. And the birds will be nesting in the hazel thicket. And they'll be sowing the summer barley in the lower fields. And they'll be eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries? Frodo: No, Sam. I can't recall the taste of food, nor the sound of water, nor the touch of grass. Instead, I'm... naked in the dark. There's nothing. No veil between me and the wheel of fire! I can see him... with my waking eyes! Sam: Then let us be rid of it! Once and for all! Come on, Mr. Frodo. I can't carry it for you... but I can carry you! Come on!

If I could share a story with all of you, my friends? I'm going to naturally assume that everyone listening to this would jump at the opportunity to visit Hobbiton. I was one of those lucky few. And, my word, did I jump.. I grew up with a wonderful granddad who gave me my first book - The Hobbit, and further instilled in me an all consuming love for The Lord of the Rings. When they released the movies, we took him to see every single one. I would visit my Granddad and find him watching the LOTR movies, and he, like me and you all, knew each and every movie, word for word. My Granddad died 2 years ago. I went to Hobbiton. On the bus to the Hobbiton movie set, they played this soundtrack. I wept; I wept as a 32 year old man would weep for his granddad who would have loved to have experienced this. My Granddad was with me that day. I had 3 pints at the Green Dragon. 2 for me and 1 for my granddad. I love you and miss you always, Granddad.
Thank you for sharing your story. May i add that you are very lucky to have grown up with your grand dad. As for me, no one from my family or friends shares this connection to middle earth. So, i really envy people like you.

I believe that Lord Of The Ring is one of those mythical, legendary films, which do much more than make you dream, which makes you want to go on an adventure, to face a terrible creature and to make fabulous encounters. This complete world is, according to me, a story, a world, a legend not to be forgotten, a legend that will make many generations dream. A friend is in terminal care for brain cancer, he will be gone soon. I put my phone on his chest with this beautiful music playing while holding his arm. He could barely speak but noded to the song. I knew he would love that. Music is very powerful. LOTR is so impactful... so much inspiration, emotions and wise lessons. Who knew an assembly of words on paper could spun such magic. We forget this came out of a human being, It really feels like a real world of its own out there somewhere.
People here comment about how they want for a wizard to come to their front door with fireworks, but what if they’re the wizard all along? What if they just forgot they stashed their fireworks away, and their Bilbo is waiting for them to knock on his door? Be the Gandalf you always wanted in your life. Help others find their place in life, and bring magic to everyone around you. That’s what it truly means to be a kind person, and an even better friend.

Oh to be 17 years old again and witnessing Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring on the big screen for the very first time in December 2001. No IPhones, no social media - just a packed auditorium witnessing Tolkien’s legendary tale come to life.
I was 15 in 2001 and had never even heard of LOTR. As fate would have it, a friend of mine from school got me to go cinema with him and watch this. Keeping mind I had no idea about the story, the end left me a bit puzzled. I endes up watching the two sequels at cinema, too. Have since watched the extended copies over a dozen times, read the books and even read other books such as the Silmarillion and hurin. Amazing world set out by Tolkien! I just absolutely love it!
We are the same age. It came out my senior year of HS. Was blown away. I couldn’t wait to meet up with my HS pals during college break to see the last two installments. I watch the series every December and I’m transported back to a wonderful time in my life.

So many wonderful comments and beautiful attachments - I listen and read, and the world gets a little better 🙂
I will let you know from time to time about my life :)
Edit 3: I am fine ig. There is a lot of crime around me. The constant news-flashes of Indian students being killed doesn't help. College is okay, made some friends, and its mostly chill.
Friends are good. But when you dont have them, you should be happy for being alive.
Me sinto assim também, realmente mágico.

I guess because the hobbit is the part of our human self which represents life.

Life is growing, death is decaying.
And home is something pure, we carry it in our hearts, it is the things we love dearly in this life.

I know I describe it weird now, but there is much more to this world than many people know. those people had reason to call her a monster, and she had reason to do what she did, but the reason she used to do it wasn't that, neither a good one, and she didn't absolutely need to, even less so that much.
she told me something like: "I just wanted to eat/feed so I could rest."
for she could not rest, and was aware of that, in her eyes she had been for long, in my eyes she still was young for she was just old enough to realize it, but not yet old enough to have learned to understand it or handle it.
she did notice quite rapidly what I am and that I am like her, but much older and much stronger.
she also noticed she could not win and reacted kind of sad and scared, which showed she didn't understand herself since all she wanted was to stop being.
she would ignore the other 2 and only talk to me, since she still saw them as worthless, because they where humans, and she looked down on them as having no value, due to more reasons, be it their weakness, them dieing and dissapearing so rapidly, but also what she did to them. and I was and am like her.
and trust me I also felt and saw that, ofcource I also knew it, but next to that with creatures like us, we have strong empathy even if we sometimes hide it, which is also why we so often hate or seem to hate the weak ones because we feel all their pain, it is often not actually them we hate, but the pain they feel and even more so which they inflict on themselves and those around them, often in very crude slow parasythic ways like opresion and emprisonment.
but there also is another form of feeling between people(creatures) like us specifficall, since that is much stronger than our normal empathy,
but also understanding since I obviously have also experienced what she has and had experienced. and what had driven her mad and to lose herself.

Beautiful! Got tears in my eyes reading this, too. What a wonderful story.

Like good old Gandalf would say, the world is not in your books and maps, its out there...

He wasn't like that in the books either, in that quote he was partly lamenting his own lust for gold.

A hard lesson learned by Thorin.

“It’s all wrong By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow.
(...) there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for. “
