  • Double feature! John Deere S680 combine repair of a damaged mid floor in the feeder house. After that repair is done I show a full tour of my Gearwrench service cart. I asked you guys what you wanted to see next and it was 50/50 on repairs and tool tours, so I decided to combine both!
In this video, you will learn how to replace an entire mid floor inside of the feeder house of a S680 and then you will learn what basic tools it takes to get started as a John Deere service technician.

This kind of content never gets old for me. I love to see how different mechanics kit themselves out and Zeth has a great combination of the high end Snap On and Milwaukee stuff all the way down to Craftsman and Harbor Freight. I remember when Craftsman was just about the only mechanic tool option around and would replace broken tools for life. Thanks for posting this Mr. Z

Thanks Zeth for a great double feature, loved it! Really appreciate how you look after and organised your tools and service equipment, as I have proven over the years of employing techs and being one myself that the guys who look after their tools and kit were always the best techs to have as they looked after the customers equipment the same way.

Every mechanic I know has a yellow MAPP gas torch in their box. Most of the fasteners I deal with are either corroded like hell or has Loctite or both. Heat is the ONLY way to fly. I have seen guys twist the heads off bolts because no heat was used. Sometimes shocking it with a ballpeen will help crack it loose. I also have an induction heater that works great. You place it around the head and squeeze the trigger. It will get really hot really fast. Then just zip it out with an impact. Brilliant. It's called the Bolt Buster.
