Hi there, Steven! Where are you living now? It is so beautiful in Florida, we are loving living here. Especially natural Florida that hasn't been developed yet. I hope you enjoy our videos, thank you for watching and for the nice comments! :)

The Steffee home does not look like it was a 19th century home. Mr Steffee was way ahead of his time! I know, I know, architecture again. 😂
Had no idea logging was such I big thing in Florida!
Another vlogger?? Too cool, hope you traded “channels”?
    Another fun video!!

How did you like that architecture?? Was it architecturally architectural enough for you? Did it meet architectural expectations? Was it structurally sound?? HEHEHE.
I really enjoy Florida's pioneer days history, especially old homesites like this one. We went to a really cool place back in December called Fort Christmas that has brought about a dozen or so old Florida homesteads from all over the state and reassembled them, complete with furnishings inside and everything. I guess you call it a living history park. That was so awesome to see!!! I can't imagine living like that.. and then you realize that this was normal only a mere 100 years ago or so. At the rate time is flying in my own lifetime, that's just so crazy to think. This could have been my great grandparents' home!
I agree with you, I had no idea logging was big in Florida either! When I think of Florida, it's certainly not big trees! But especially central Florida area does have enormous pines, cypress, etc, and I guess we had to clear out for Disney somehow LOL.
I didn't bother the other person because he was clearly recording and I didn't want to mess up his shot. I kinda wish now I had hung around a little longer so we could swap channels! But Abra was getting pretty hot & tired at that point and needed water, so I was booking it back to the car for her sake. But yeah I am kind of kicking myself for letting that opportunity slide!

@@michaelandjulie All right all right, I guess I deserved to be teased about the architecture, 😂 and to be honest, I was wondering how the buildings have withstood all that Mother Nature has thrown at them over the decades, but then a again they really did “build better” back in the old days compared to now, and to be honest, I think they were smarter than we are now too. Well some of us anyway. 🤓
We have several pioneer sites up here that we visited as youngsters in school, along with a lot of Underground Railroad sites also. More things you two might consider if and when you ever make a trip up our way. But you’re correct, it’s hard to believe how fast time flies by. It was the early 70’s when we visited my great grandparents in Tampa. Wow I’m getting old…👴
Funny you mentioned Disney and the clearing it took to build Disney World, I was thinking about that while watching the second treadmill video. When we took our family to Disney back in 2012, spent 7 days there, I read a lot about Disney history during that trip, amazing story. At time though, I was thinking it was mostly swamp. The history of Celebration is pretty cool to learn about also.
Who knows, you may come across that other blogger again somewhere. Or might get lucky and find his vlog on here even. Maybe you two should get cards to pass out your channel on, sorta like a business card. Something to think about anyway.😉 But I understand of course, Abra needed water, could see that. You did too. 🌊

You’re right, it’s especially impressive that the pioneer houses have survived 100+ years of Florida’s hurricanes & floodings! They absolutely must have been smarter than we are today. For sure we would like to check out pioneer sites anywhere! My grandparents took me on a roadtrip across the US when I was a teenager, and I remember seeing so many cool pioneer sites & villages. I’m really wanting to get up to Wisconsin and see the Caddie Woodlawn house. That was a childhood favorite book of mine right along with Pippi Longstocking!
I don’t really know much about Disney & Disney’s history. We’re thinking of making more Disney & themepark content on our channel in the future, at least in between Michael’s different races (it’ll be too hot to race outside soon!) and traveling. I don’t know much of anything about Celebration’s history. We do really like Celebration though. I know Disney sold it, which had to be a huge disappointment to the people who paid big bucks to be in the OG houses built near downtown Celebration. It’s a cool spot but sort of looks like it might be going downhill. I heard one of the big anchor spots closed last week, and the old movie theater is a big of an eyesore!
I have looked & looked on youtube to find anybody else who’s posted about Shingle Creek or the Steffee Homestead in the last 2 months hoping to find that vlogger. Either he hasn’t posted his video on RUclips yet, or he wasn’t actually vlogging. You can always tell though, RUclipsrs are the only ones who film with their phones in Landscape mode! All other social media uses Portrait mode. Plus he had a fancy gimbal. I’m sure his footage looks far superior to mine in this video! I still have my fingers crossed I’ll find his content and get to tell him I saw him out in the wild filming!! 😂💙

@@michaelandjulie Well when you get to Wisconsin and if you drive, you might get to go right through our area here in Indiana, or at least close, may have to give a more ideas of places that you might want to visit. Antique Alley maybe?
I sort of remember hearing about Celebration when it was first started, and learned a lot more about it once the it started not working out like they wanted it to. It’s one of those things, as I read about it, I wondered why they thought it would work. Starting your own little town/city and running it exactly like you want it to be. Well not everyone is going to agree on everything, you’ll always have people wanting to do it different than you want, I mean HOA’s have a hard enough time keeping their residents in line. A whole city? In a Disney “World” that might work, but real life isn’t a Disney “Life”. 😔
If I ever come across the video that guy was shooting, I’ll for sure let you know. Who knows maybe he’s several videos behind like someone else we know. 😉😁

I'm dreaming of a US roadtrip! We could hit everything and just live out of an RV for awhile! Michael is not quite so keen on the idea as I am, he likes his creature comforts a bit more than I do! I want to see Mammoth Cave also, isn't that kind of near you? I know we were planning to go the last time we were in Louisville, and it was supposed to be some drive away from the city, but our plans got ruined last minute and we didn't make it. Oh well, it is there for next time!
I don't know if you've seen Celebration lately, but a new construction company came in a few years ago and started adding onto the neighborhood just a couple miles from downtown. Very cheaply constructed houses, all cookie cutter just like any other basic builder community in a suburban area. It really took a lot of the charm off of the town. I love old downtown Celebration, where everyone has large lawns and wrap around porches. Those houses are mighty expensive these days! But the new construction just looks slapped together and will not age well, and that's if they survive hurricane seasons. It's really sad, knowing what could have been compared to what is now. I hope the people in the original houses aren't too upset about the turn of events. Maybe they all decamped and went to Golden Oak HAHA.
Yes, please let me know if you ever find that guy! I just looked again to see if he's posted. We are so far behind but due to get caught up to present day by the end of March! Michael is working on a training series while he's prepping for a 24 hour race this month, and that will start coming out in April. At that point we'll be all caught up! I've had a nice long easy vacation recovering from surgery and enjoying living like I'm on vacation with my aunt and not making any new videos for awhile. It's been nice to spend so much time chatting with you guys on here!
