    Windows window snapping is far better than Rectangle/Magnet, audio volume control for each individual programm, better AltTab, most programs close when the last window is closed, finnicky close and minimize buttons as you said, weird minimize/maximize behaviour on macos, better native mouse support (macos needs programs like Linearmouse), far better support for external monitors (blurry text on macos when its not a 4k monitor), middle click (very important)

    • @hailstorm7868
      @hailstorm7868 8 месяцев назад +3

      Regarding monitors on mac, it's not 4k, ist's all about dpi. You need 110 dpi for low res, or 220 for retina. 1440p 27" is the sweetspot (same as 34" 3440x1440). Google for details.

      All the things you wrote are *exactly* the things I really hate about macOS! Even apps can’t give the same experience as the features in windows. And don’t get me wrong, I like macOS. But these things drive me CRAZY! If anyone has ideas to fix these issues, please help me out.

      The only thing I miss from Windows as a primary Mac user is Windows snapping, multitasking with such poor window management is hilarious. It is almost annoying to use a Mac without an extra display.

  • @junostr
    @junostr 10 месяцев назад +3

    Yk on a lot of point here I agree, but I must say that full screen windows are a separate "Desktop" is one of the main reason why I switched to Mac. On Windows it just covers up everything behind it in full screen and on Mac you can just switch to the side without interrupting or needing to reenter the fullscreen view of a window

    • @junostr
      @junostr 10 месяцев назад +1

      ah and the point with the fullscreen window moving to the end of all desktops is because you disabled something. If you keep it like it came out of the box the fullscreen window just opens the next desktop to the right

    Old video but, the complaints about the audio per program thing on windows never made sense to me - It's more a user habit. All programs have volume sliders, use them. Why have 3 different options for audio levels, it's clunky. Sometimes on windows I find myself not knowing why a program isn't outputting sound to find it out was muted in the audio control thing in windows.

I know there's a tool inside Microsoft Power Toys for this or third-party apps like Flow launcher but as you said in this video something that is built in the OS just works better and smoother. Why would you footnote every user interface problem with macs with "no one cares about" ? Is this to appease the cult people who will scoff at every single archaic stubborn decision Apple has made to keep Mac "different" ? Everyone thinks Mac's don't have as much market share as PC's bc of price and enterprise use.. but I can guarantee you a large part of that is also due to these "little" user interface issue mac insists on keeping, which repels MILLIONS of people. I get it, you want to be a Mac channel, because in your research, Mac channels get more views... but don't poo poo away all the problems macs have with "no one cares".

      My theory is that android , pc, mac . They all have a deal to monopolize one niche . Having one thing all to itself given that they are separate companies making similar electronic devices for similar use. Really if they combine and merge they will monopolize and dominate. None will come close.. you will knly need one company producing all these things. It will be good for the customer cause you will get everything. But leave no room for major improvement or competition. . Just like iphone . Apple have the ability to improve camera similar to Android but they always make minor adjustment and not go full force. It's not knly tk get people to buy new apple phones but also why not improve camera to be on par or better than Android with given technology. Which also support the theory that they are in cahoots. At least sign a contract or corporal agreement to not exceed kne another at kne thing.
      In short it's a money scam grabbing scheme .

    On Mac you can use MacOs and Windows at the same time. So as a Mac user you can use both exclusive features . However as a user of windows laptop you can't use MacOS features. But you must know that the Windows on Mac now is just a VM and not natively supports windows. Some soft doesn't support Windows. Some soft doesn't support MacOS. So deside on your needs. Mac can solve 90% average users needs with good perfomance and some of other you can do in windows VM. If you have Iphone why not?

      Running Windows on a Mac in a VM isn't the same as running native on Intel/AMD and not even the same as running Bootcamp back in the Mac Intel days. Windows on a Mac is Windows ARM when running on Apple Silicon. You can run into Misc issues and there are extra translations going on. You will see many vendors even specify their software is not certified to run in that setup(run as your own risk).

    You can game pretty good with macos not only triple a games. use wine, game porting tool kit, vulkan, whiskey etc. and its a pretty good feeling. Try it.
    On the other hand, on windows its all native and the gestures with alt tab and alt tab and shift (means the opposite) also the rename for files can be done by pressing F2 on Windows, feeling so much better. Mac is a big difference and good in other things. damn it is soo hard when you have to choose between of one of them.
    If there was a Windows Laptop with the same build quality, i would choose windows. Sadly they wont program windows natively for ARM 64 bit.

    1. You can’t select the arrow under line settings because you aren’t using selecting an arrow which can be found in the “shapes” drop down. Crazy how the arrow shape is under shapes right?
    2. If you are going to be switching between a full screen video and other apps, just move the space containing the video. This also allows you to keep using your browser after a video has been made full screen.
    3. Snapping was patented by Microsoft which is why Apple isn’t allowed to implement it. But since the patent only prevents the operating system from implementing the feature, third party apps can still enable this.
    4. Either use a mouse with a middle click or just use cmd+click when you want to open links in a new tab. There’s always another way to do things without needing middle click.

  • @NatJSBelza

    Hmm... looks like, some of the mentioned mac problems here is user error rather than a workflow issue with macs. For example, the part where the you talked about video going fullscreen and that it creates a virtual desktop at the end. You can simply press escape to go back to where you were before you entered fullscreen. 🤦‍♂Arrow? On windows you literally made an arrow with the mouse, you could have done exactly the same. Actually the app will detect that you drawn an arrow with the mouse and convert it to an editable arrow. Why make it hard mate?
    I'll give you one trick, screenshot any part of the screen, a video or a graphic image with texts. Open the screenshot, you can now then select the texts and copy it somewhere. Another one, open safari, and watch a video on youtube with texts, for example, a video about coding / web development. This time no need to screenshot, just highlight/select the texts in the video while it's paused, and then copy and paste.

  • @PatSmashYT

    On Mac you can literally press F3 to display every window

  • @ft4709
    @ft4709 4 месяца назад

    Pretty much all of them are either user error or just personal preference. The fact that macOS automatically puts full screen video to a separate space is one of the many things that I actually prefer over Windows. It means I can just quickly swipe over to another app, get something done and swipe back whilst the video keeps playing. On Windows the full screen video will hide everything else that’s currently in that space, meaning I have to minimize the video first, then switch to the new app, do whatever I wanted to do, then go back and maximize the video again. Add to that the fact that working with spaces (or virtual desktops as Microsoft insists on calling it) is incredibly painful on windows since there‘s no native support for hot corners and multitouch is essentially down to whatever hardware you got. Oh, and macOS absolutely doesn’t put full screen video all the way in the last space. I don’t know which settings you changed in order to get that result.
    Same with control+tab: I‘m used to working with a lot of open windows because macOS makes it easy for me to navigate between them, thanks to mission control and hot corners. On Windows, control+tab is completely useless for me, because the preview size is so damn small. Seriously, how am I supposed to tell different explorer windows apart? Besides, you‘re not going to tell me that pressing windows+tab a bazillion times is a more user-friendly solution than just swiping up with three fingers or moving the mouse into one of the screen corners.
    Snap is another thing I hate with a passion. Once I snap one window to one side of the screen, Windows will immediately block the other half with suggestions for other windows I could snap. Why? If I wanted another window there, I would just snap it myself. Magnet does this a lot better. Window snapping is just a questionable feature to begin with, which is why I actually deinstalled magnet on my mac. Window sizes should follow whatever content they display. Snapping windows usually means you either end up scrolling a whole bunch or you waste valuable screen real estate with empty windows. Just take two slightly more complex excel spreadsheets and snap them to both corners. It‘ll immediately mess up the section you scrolled to so you‘ll end up manually adjusting most of it anyways. Unfortunately you’re kinda forced to use snap on Windows because its window management is depressingly poor for an OS that’s called Windows.
    And on the subject of repairability: That’s certainly the biggest downside to Apple products, but how does this make Windows any better? Just ignoring the fact that there’s plenty of Windows notebooks out there that are even worse for no apparent reason, it‘s got literally nothing to do with the OS. Same with Gaming. Seriously, we‘re stilling using that tired argument?

    I found it interesting in the RUclips video "Most Popular Operating Systems (Desktop & Laptops) 1978 - 2023" how Windows 10 continues to pull further and further ahead of everything, and Mac's continue to loose more and more of their market share for the past 2 years. Maybe everyone is fed up with the gouged prices of ram & drive space? Or is it that there is simply way more software and hardware available for PC's than Mac's? Or maybe people of just sick of doing things....Apple's way or the highway?
    It's a good watch, and should help people make up their minds which kinds of systems to buy.

    I couldn't find anyone else to point this one out so:
    AltTab actually works better than default Windows AltTab imo as it gives you much more options. The "bug" you mentioned of not displaying a preview is not a bug. The apps with no preview are apps that are not actually opened (they have no windows) BUT they are running in the background. It's basically the same as when you close an app, there are no windows of that app in Mission Control but you still see that little dot under it in the dock. That means the app is still running, just doesn't have an opened Window. If that confuses you, you can disable it easily in AltTab options.
