    I'm a complete beginner, and it took me 3 hours, but with these instructions I was able to remove, inspect, fix wiring, and reinstall my dishwasher! Even with a slightly different setup on the bottom, all the directions were clear and super easy to follow. Thank you for this video!

      So this can happen and instead of hardwiring it like I showed in the video, you just find a dishwasher with a plug and plug it in. :)

    Thank You. For someone with a moderate amount of DIY knowledge, but never having replaced a dishwasher before, your video was perfect. No overly wordy explanations or repeating the same asinine warnings about making sure you remember to trip the breaker or turn off the water supply or you could end up with a mess. Sigh… those videos drive me crazy. To the point, well spoken, clear video, no multiple reminders about common sense things like “ don’t forget to make sure you triple check that your screws are snugged up tight to prevent any problems in the future. “. And no novel length speeches like the one that I’m giving in this comment. Liked, subbed, and notifications on, just because I think if you post something, I might learn something and I didn’t have to devote an hour to something you could concisely explain to me in five minutes. So thank You! I’m a fan!

    Great video! Thank you! I hope this helps someone. I was thinking the hardest part of this for me would be laying the dishwasher on its back and then picking it back up again. But I figured out that I can put two chairs facing each other and lay the dishwasher back on those. I hope the weight distribution will allow for that. Doing it that way will also keep me from having to get down on the floor and pick myself back up. I'm 65 and have arthritis, so I don't like having to do that.

      Not every dishwasher is the same, but the concept is pretty universal. Bottom of dishwashers are no joke as the manufacturer keeps a lot of the metal down there pretty raw and feel no need to sand any corners or edges. Glad you got it figured out!!! I bet it looks great!

    1 small tip before you reconnect the old water line. Flush it. Just turn the valve on slightly for a few seconds and put something under to catch the water. This just makes sure nothing nasty gets in the new washer line. If you’re using a new line no need! But great video!

    Few things to add:
    Unplug the dishwasher if you can or check for power
    Check for leaks before you slide it back in
    Screw the feet down on the existing dishwasher before sliding it out - gives you a lot more room to work with.
    If you're replacing cords you can disconnect them and not be worried about damaging them while pulling out.

      @ColtonCrumpDIY  3 года назад +12

      If you have a dishwasher that was installed with a cord that plugs into an outlet and had a licensed professional install it, likely the outlet is protected and you should be fine to replace your dishwasher by unplugging it then ensuring your new dishwasher has a plug that also plugs into the same outlet

      An easier way: Very first thing to do is switch off circuit breaker. Then turn on dishwasher. If it doesn't light up, you have cut off the power.

    Great video, but always make sure you just turn your hot water valve off to the whole house , cause in most houses and all older houses the shut off valve isn’t just under the sink, in my case I just about flooded the kitchen and sent a significant amount of water to the basement. Cleaning it up as we speak. Just be safe and turn it all off.

    I’m just installing an older, used Hobart D/W in my tiny house. After locating the wires, I’ve decided to install a plug-in cord to the dedicated 20 a receptacle behind the d/w. Also, since the used d/w didn’t come with any hoses, I’m putting in a new water supply hose and a new drain hose. The issues I have are matching sizes of the connection points. I believe that the fill hose is 3/8” with a 1/2” female connector. The drain hose will fit the existing clamp connection but the other end is larger than the sink trap tailpiece. So I’m trying to figure how to remedy that. I won’t have a garbage disposal, but will install and air gap under the sink.

    • @ColtonCrumpDIY
      @ColtonCrumpDIY  Год назад

      Have you checked your local home hardware store to see if they have an adapter? Or Amazon even. Just the make sure you get some clamps or pvc cleaner/glue. Did you also make sure your D/W is on a Gfci line? By code they need to be.
