Watching this video gave me the confidence I needed to call a professional.
😂😂😂
Too funny 😂😂
😂😂 im just 2 mins into the video. I think i will hire somebody..
Lol😅😂😊
hahaha
My husband was out of town when my dishwasher was delivered. With your video I was able to get my dishwasher installed all by myself. Thanks so much ❤
Congratulations on your installation! Knowing is half the battle. I’m sure he will be surprised when he gets back. Good luck with your next project!
can you do mine please?
i really like how he goes slow enough and talks you through each step. He's not side stepping or all over the place. Part of me thinks i can do it; but i dont like messing with wires...i wish i could hire him
I am the worst with DIY, but this video helped me tremendously. I never thought I would have been able to do this, but this video was great and I got my dishwasher installed by myself after Home Depot left me high and dry. Thank you!
Bliss! None of that 'pickup truck' music garbage! Just a no-nonsense/the facts install video!!!!
I Really liked your video Josh. Several pointers I didn’t think of before I got started changing my dishwasher, but as a code inspector I must correct you not to direct wire any appliance. The only time that is allowed is if the breaker panel was “in direct line of sight”. I would also object to the outlet being installed behind the dishwasher. Best practice is to cord and plug under the sink along with the water hook ups. Hey you did get the GFCI and dedicated 20 amp circuit right 👍.
My old dishwasher I just removed was direct wired and the wire was right behind the dishwasher. Can you explain a little further why I should not direct wire a new dishwasher?
@@england670 hey yes, it’s a NEC code requirement that outlet is be accessible NEC 422.16(B)(1) and (2)
@@stephendavidson2874 That's just repeating "it's code" but with more words. Why is it code?
@@qsleonard Accessible is the key word; accessibly is for safety reasons. If service is required the “code” requires the equipment to be disconnected before repairs are made. The plug being accessible under the sink verses behind the dishwasher where it’s probably not “accessible”.
Depends on where you are. Where I live, hardwiring any appliance that is 20a or less is fine. Just can't do ovens and dryers basically.
Good video with good visual. A few points to make:
1) Instructions say with those supply line compression fits, you should hand tighten, and then only go another half turn with wrench to avoid overtightening.
2) I would’ve fed the supply line behind the cold shut off valve to not obstruct access to valve.
3) You never leveled it from front to back. I’d be shocked given the height difference front to back due to the tile flooring if it was perfect first try.
4) As you slide the dishwasher back you should stop a little past half way and pull some slack from the drain line back into cabinet to avoid potential kinking.
5) Also need to mention the importance of keeping the drain hose elevated inside the cabinet so it doesn’t droop down below the drain connection to garbage disposal.
Omg I am paying someone
A well done video to install a brand new dishwasher under the cabinet. His simple no non sense step by step procedure is very good, helping people from making mistakes. However, there are a couple of exceptions. At 1:40", he mentioned the dishwasher requires a 20A circuit, it is not! It is true that most circuits in the kitchen are wired with 20A breakers, for many kitchen appliances but this dishwasher on a dedicated circuit does not need it. Most dishwashers nowadays are much more efficient than the ones they replaced, so a15A circuit is plenty for these appliances with only 7-8A power draw. In addition, I'd do it differently at 7:25", I would raise the dishwasher leveling feet as high as it could go before securing the two screws to the side cabinet. This way, the dishwasher does not move anywhere. The two wimpy wood screws will not keep it from moving, they only meant to keep the front of the dishwasher from tipping forward.
Was wondering when some one would note that he did not adjust the height to the top with the leveling feet. Good video though..love no damn background "music".
I appreciate this video. Bought my dishwasher from a clearance store, got a nice deal as it didn't come with the box but I later realized I was missing components. I never had a dishwasher before so I didn't know what I needed, and with your video, I now do, and am confident I can install it on my own. Thanks!
For some reason I always liked installing dishwashers. I guess because it's another step to completion. I always used an outlet and hooking an appliance cord rated for the dishwasher in case it has to get replaced or serviced then can just be unplugged. I usually located the GFCI outlet in the sink cabinet for easy plugging in. Out of habit when I had a dishwasher on it's back, I'd hook up the water line since it is much easier to tighten and then fish the line through the cabinet. The drain hose hole in the cabinet I put near the top to help create the trap in the discharge hose.
The brackets on some that hold the dishwasher in place are on top are okay as long as the top isn't a solid surface top. Still love the side mounting feature on them. Sorry you had to move the unit back but it does look much better. (Don't forget to fill the two holes with the white fill stick. Might have a picky person who will see that every time the door is open. 😄)
Great job Josh. 🔨👍🏻🔨👍🏻
You are so right, David! You know once that dishwasher is installed the kitchen should be pretty much ready to go. In my area it is not code to have a GFCI outlet in the sink cabinet. I could understand why people would put it there, so you could install a garbage disposal easy as well. yes I have had some with that solid surface attachment. I usually don’t like messing with the countertops once they are installed. Yes!, I actually did fill in those little holes with white caulk. It is nice that it is simple to move the dishwasher when you have to. It was actually the wife that recommended shifting it back. I usually would have done that but sometimes I get in a hurry and miss out on the small details. Thanks a lot for stopping by again David. I hope everything is going great your way!
@@TheExcellentLaborer Exactly about the GFCI in the cabinet. We can do either way. If there a disposal, i keep that off the dishwasher. Yes, here, they have to be on it's own circuit if possible unless just replacing the cabinets etc and leaving the layout the same. But, if you move it to another location, you have to do your best to run a new line, if possible. Be well also. 👍🏻
Pretty simple instructions. This is a truly a job for any homeowner.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I have been through numerous how to videos for my new construction home and hands down, this is the most simplest and yet very thoroughly explained. I'm quite confident now that I can complete it independently. Thank you!
thank you for a to the point video that doesn't waste time with a bunch of useless talk. I subscribed right away.
We've been remodeling our kitchen and I just wanted to say that your videos are awesome! I appreciate that you explain things clearly and concisely. Thank you for the help! 😁
I'm so glad that I came upon this video. I've been waiting for it. You explain everything so clearly. Based on this, I now understand how to disconnect the old dishwasher that I don't want without needing a plumber. Thank you for all you share. I learn so much from watching your channel. 😊
You’re welcome, Cat! After you see how things work typically you can figure a lot of things out yourself. I’m glad my video was helpful for you. Take care!
Thanks for getting right to the job and not being "cute" and fooling around like some of the other videos I saw. Excellent !!! 👍
Exactly! Amateurs patter; pros get to work!
great walk through and detail. Need to do this job myself since the plumbers suck in my area
Great video. Never done one but I have a new one and am remodeling the kitchen. Looks like the DW is going in first!
Great video. My dishwasher requires a 15amp breaker, 14/2 is fine for my unit, unless it was a long way from the electrical panel, then I would go to 12/2, but I would still use a 15amp breaker.
Check your dishwasher washer documentation and local code.
Thanks man. I'm installing one today.
Great video, picture is stable, lighting is very well, speaking is clear and constant pace.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you! Very good video and concise. I appreciate it!
Excellent instructional video! Thanks for the no-nonsense clarity.
If I could make a recommendation, Wago 221's work MUCH better than wire nuts when terminating solid and stranded copper together.
I love the Wago 221’s! In fact I made this video ruclips.net/video/-Yd-RE8vdVk/видео.html and included them in it! Thanks for the feedback!
I’m glad you moved it back. I noticed it was protruding a bit.
Awesome explanation. Incredibly helpful. Thanks man.
Excellent! Clear, precise and thorough. Easy to follow instructions.
Thank you very much help me a lot
I appreciate your style…friendly but not corny and to the point with important details! We just bought our first home I think the dishwasher wasn’t properly installed. Is it normal to have an open gap between the top of the DW and the countertop of about an inch?
An inch seems like a bit too much; if your DW doesn't have a frame to cover it, you might be able to use the adjustable legs to raise the DW up but don't forget to re-level it afterwards.
Another option would be to simply frame in above the DW with a small strip of wood then paint/stain it to match the rest of your counter frame.
Hope this helps!
@@mrblack5145 thank you!
Those new clips on the side are a pain in the ass cheep pot metal that sanped on me actually had to go back to lowes and ask for the bracket off the desplay 😂 they were cool😊
Right on point brother thanks a bunch
Thank you. That was a great video.
Thanks for the video brother, much help. That wrench you got sure looks like a pair of channel locks. 🤪
You bet!
Thanks!
Thank you for the support Bruce! That means a lot. Good luck with your project!
Handyman here and I appreciate this fast and detailed video. Subscribed.
Thank you
No problem. You are welcome!
Good job
Thanks!
Good explanation
Thanks Devon!
You are the best. I saved thousands of dollars because of you ❤❤❤
Great video! Thank you
Thank you I’m glad you liked it!
Thank you for sharing
No problem!
Perhaps I missed it but key points. 1) connect the dishwasher water supply line to the home HOT water pipe. 2) put the dishwasher waste water line into a high loop so that back flow into dishwaster is prevented. The loop has to be 32" or as high as the counter top undersurface allows, then the waste water line connect to the sink side of the p trap or to the garbage disposal.
hearing the fading eco feels weird but the tutorial and step by step installation is clear and easy to do
This video is perfect.
Thanks Patrick!
That was really good dude, you explained everything that I needed to know and a couple of things I didn't know. Like the mandatory circuit breaker protection thingy, I have to watch your video again to properly call the device by its correct name and guess what, I don't mind watching your video again but after I subscribe to your channel. But you did say that that protective circuit part is a required and a regulation item that electrically wired dishwashers to a circuit breaker must have right, require by code standards and if you don't have it, it would be a code violation, right? What if the breaker is in an apartment complexes apartment, would the same rule apply? If it doesn't have one, what could a code violation look like? Another item is the little round thing you put or feed the wires through in the circuit box underneath the D/W to secure the wires before connecting them to the D/W's wires, is that a code requirement as well? If so, what would that code violation look like if that stabling item is missing? Oh and the drain hose, does the hole need to be at the top of the counter? Mines is going through the same hole at the bottom as the water intake hose goes through and is connected to a bigger hose connected to my garage disposal and its a female hose and my discharge hose from the D/W is male and fits into the bigger hose and a clamp is over the bigger hose to tighten when adjusted to the right spot. Please feel free to add more info about those questions that you think are important for me to know, I really respect your professional opinions, dude, sir lol thank you. My appologies if ive used any wrong jargon, im learning. My name is Heath.
Thats the model dishwasher i got. How convenient.
Thanks
Really appreciated your video. Thank you! Can you give me some expert insight because I have a question - I noticed there was no insulation behind the bottom panel of your dishwasher - # 1 is that the norm on dishwasher appliances today? I have a older Kenmore dishwasher that has insulation located behind that bottom panel so my # 2 question is -can I just purchase a piece of insulation from a big box store to replace my old insulation. It's dirty and I want to replace it with clean insulation. #3 Do appliances use a specific type of insulation? I've gone on line for appliance parts but I like to pick things up at the store and look at them before purchasing. I hate having to return parts purchased on line that don't work - just too many extra steps and it costs too much with cost of postage. I've seen various insulation at Big Box stores that I was wondering if I could use. If you can clarify that for me I will be most grateful. Thank you again for your video.
Appreciate the video, thank you!
I just got my dishwasher delivered today, and it looks pretty similar to this one. Do the buttons on top of the door need to be accessible when the dishwasher is closed like that or can you still get to them being under the countertop like that?
Thank you, sir.
Good Job fella!
Great video🙏👏❤️
Thank you so much, I’m preparing to install ours today and this was a solid instructional video.
howd that go for you?
@@ryanmiller5628 Got it done! Extra time spent fishing power and drain lines begins cabinet walls. Thanks for asking!
Bro said fast and easy 😂😂😂
Fast and easy for what it is.
😂
It really is. Call a plumber and he’ll charge you over $200 to do this.
That's what I said 😅😅😅
What exact model is this specific unit you installed? I try to install looks same but drain components looks different.
მადლობა ❤👍
Awesome. Thx
You are welcome!
Excellent video! Thank you for doing this.
Nice video learned alot
Wow.... GREAT video.
Well done.
Nice job.
Thank you for your comment!
Is there a reason to connect the power cables after the dishwasher is in? I’m replacing mine tomorrow and it’s going to be my first time ever doing it.
Excellent video! But why do you call pliers a wrench?
Do you need to create a U shape hose when connecting the dishwasher to the drain ?
Can’t say I haven’t done it before but I would highly not recommend using a contactless voltage detector to deem no power on the circuit. Sometimes they don’t pick up the voltage correctly and if the battery is low they will not work properly. Always use a voltage meter.
You sir are 100% correct I hate how often I see people instructing you to put your life in the hands of a no contact voltage detector
Great videos
Nice
Thanks!
thank you for pushing it back. lol
Yes! You are welcome!
How did you get to the back of the dishwasher to install the water line and elec. lines when it's tucked underneath the counter. Unless I was a mouse I couldn't get back there to do that. All my connections are in the back of the dishwasher.
Great job.
Thank you for that!
2:23 is why I needed a video. I was like "WTF am I doing with a stuff copper pipe, this is ridiculous"
Very good video and thorough explanation ❤❤
Thx
Excellent videos
Interesting video thanks again!!!!!
I appreciate that. You are welcome!
Great install video, one recommendation on the electrical installation though.
Hard wiring your Romex whip directly under the dishwasher is not a good idea. It really should be sleeved in a half inch metal flex .
Did you level front to back too?
do I need teflon tape on any of the threads?
No anti-siphon vacuum breaker for the dishwasher drain?
I guess you needed to buy a separate hose clamp for the smaller hose. The one that came with my kit didn't have enough threads to fit.
Would it have been better to leave it sticking a little further out because of the digital display and button placement?
bro i was like you cant press the buttons now!
If that white drain hose is looped because its too long, will this cause my dishes to not dry? New machine, and everything has undried water spots on everything. Thank you, great video!
You need to put a drying agent in with your load. Such as finish drying agent.
No need for Teflon tape on any of the connections?
The water supply lines have rubber gaskets in them that eliminate the need for Teflon tape. Great question though! Thanks for watching!
I came to watch your video because i saw something on Facebook stating they were so proud of their husband for installing their dishwasher rather than hiring a plumber and i was laughing with my fiance about it... She would be happy to install a UK dishwasher, plug it in, connect the water and waste water, it's as easy as plugging in, turning on and turning a screw with your hand. This looks far more difficult and over-engineered than necessary!
Do you have a link for the junction box cover and wire holder? My sister bought a dishwasher second hand that needs to be wired in and I can’t seem to find one and didn’t see it linked in the description with everything else.
Are the hardware on dishwashers pretty standardized? - the water connection and the exhaust drain water hose? My dishwasher is hooked to a 15 amp breaker.
My GE PDT145SSLSS dishwasher spec states its rated at 8.9amp. Does that mean I can use 14/2 15 amp circuit?
These dishwasher install kits dont come with a Y or T connector? So I can hae hoses to both my faucet and dishwasher..
noticed the excellent drill through job not using a hole saw
Can anyone explain or link me a video on how to run wiring from the panel box to behind the wall and to the dishwasher? Sorry if this is a stupid question young and grew up without a dad

Thumbs up for sure. Very clear and detailed, as well. Thanks for the help!
My bracket won’t brake off. It’s a pretty solid piece.
Where can I find the cabinet trim around the dish washer? I can't find it anywhere.
Great stuff as always 🤙
Thank you Todd!
air gap is not required in th is area?
Do those dishwashers still work with the controls being under the counter I've never seen them mounted where the controls are covered
Yes, my sister has a dishwasher like that where the controls are on top under the overhang on the countertop and it let's you have the door open to input your settings and then the cycle will start once the door is closed
very helpful, thank you!
What stops someone from, flipping the lockout and turning the breaker on?
And why would you put a GFCI receptacle behind the dishwasher? What if the GFCI trips?
@@nosweat46 they would place a lock through the breaker switch, so it won’t shut or turn on. I hope that helps!
Glad you moved it back because god damn was that thing sticking out far lol
