The simpleset and most effective "Tilt Lock" is, you find a small suitable rectectangular piece of hardword and put it in place with the motor up and gently tilt the motor onto the wood. Far stronger then the sliding brackets and soo much cheaper to replace.
It looks like you need to trim the motor up one more hole you'll get better gas mileage , little more speed and less wear and tear overall on the motor .. and your trailer needs to be bigger or move your upright further forward and it will trailer way better .. Yamaha makes some good motors I loved mine .. best of luck with yours .. thanks for the video and info
I have a (real) Yamaha 25 HP, and remember the manual stating you can't trailer it on that tilt pin, but to use a block of wood instead if that is necessary.
Well.. I bought a genuine yamaha 20hp some 18 years ago. My pvc boat is slowly comming to retirement (that i bought the same time) but yamaha will last my entire life. Still looks almost as new..
That’s a strong motor won’t give any issues that’s all we run in South America it’s a commercial motor simple to fix worth every penny will last a life time with proper care
These Chinese clones aren’t bad. I got a chance to look at them up close and they are practically the same mechanically. The electrical components don’t share the same quality standards. I have the Yamaha enduro 25 and it has noticeably better quality wires than the clones.
I use a ratchet strap that is secured to one side of the trailer, loops around the motor leg, and then attaches to the other side of the trailer, before being tightened with the ratchet mechanism. Seem to hold the motor better. Is that 25hp a 2 stroke ?
@@CoachB91 I appreciate it! I’m pushing a 1436 and get about 17-19 mph with 3/4 throttle and around 24 mph with wide open throttle. I’m also have an aluminum deck and battery which add alot of weight at the front of the boat.
I don't think Yamaha has anything to do with that motor. If you try to find it on the internet now, you can't, and the same motor is named something else. I'm not saying it's not an okay motor, I'm saying Yamaha put a stop to some Chinese company putting their name on something not manufactured by Yamaha.
Looked at your unboxing video you posted before, then looked at real Yamaha 25 HP Enduro unboxing videos, why does yours have Yamaha stickers you have to put on where everyone else has them on from the factory? This would be fun, call up your local Yamaha dealer and have them run the serial number and 1. See if it is a valid serial number 2. Ask if it shows a warranty status Chinese knock offs are a thing for EVERYTHING.

The transom tilt lock is not made to support the motor when trailering.
Glad you had good luck with your new motor! All it wants is for yall to care for it and itll last a lifetime!!

Nah man, this is a chinese copy of the Yamaha, not the same as the original version

Man
Put a rubber block in there so it doesn't bounce but also use a Rachel strap to to keep tension on it, good to go

My 14’ Jon boat is rated for a 20 hp motor. Would it be ok to put a 25 hp on it? What do y’all think.
Shouldn't hurt it at all...
Send it.
Anyone have thoughts on using this in salt water long term? Is there an anode somewhere that I don't see?
do you happen to have a link, price, and how long was your ship time? I am interested in getting one too, nice motor :)
What kind of warranty comes with the motor and if something did go wrong, where would you get the warrantied service?
@@Scubaman1 no warranty, that’s a risk you take for the reduced price. I’ve been running the outboard since April with no issues.
@@Jonboatjimmy OK, thanks for the reply.
1,900 dollars with no warranty? No way. You'll find out when it breaks down and maximim 50% of the spare parts can be sourced from other brands
That motor will probably outlast the boat it's attached to if it's maintained properly.
