Another wonderful video. I watched several channels devoted to jewels and yours is my favorite. I’m always glad when I see a new video posted as I watch them before I go to sleep. Thank you so much for all the work you put into them and the wonderful narration.
Such a great watch. I’d love to hear sources mentioned or listed and context on the sales of jewels like this, the reception of the media, etc. is that something you do in your in your other videos or is this just kind of for fun ?
The thing I find most interesting about this particular documentary, is that in every single photo/video clip of Princess Margaret, she is an example of the rule "less is more". If she wore the huge Pultimore Tiara, she wore a single row of diamonds at her neck.
Many People were Upset the late Queen didn't buy her Sisters Poltimore Tiara, and a few other pieces...Though I suspect Some did BID on at least Two Pieces for The Queen. Alas the Tiara wasn't a Royal Tiara. The Poltimore was a very lovely Tiara. BUT Its Provenance didn't qualify it being in the Royal Collection. Where As The Faberge Clock!!! That's very different...I've always thought that Clock a gift from Queen Mary... Might have been on The Queens bedside table when she died.
bids weren't put in for our late Queen, and King Edward VII, Queen Alexandra and King George V and Queen Mary collected Faberge which are part of the royal collection and have never been at Balmoral but during her widowhood Mary visited aristocrats and would admire many expensive "trinkets" and the Ladies of the houses felt under pressure to give them to the Dowager Queen and many did start to hide them if she was expected to visit and many were given to members of the royal family and why would a Faberge clock be on her bedside table and exhibitions of such as Faberge etc were held for the public in Kensington Palace, our Queen did not have these things in her private homes
And the diamond necklace too Margaret's son should have never sold that necklace his mother brought it to the family and tbat piece of jewelry stays in the family
That so called Poltrimore tiara princess Margaret bought it when she was still single around 1958 and when she wore it on her wedding day in may1960 and became the Countess of Snowdon a title granted by her sister the queen as a wedding present she became the founder of the Snowdon family line and as a result that tiara was theSnowdon tiara and should have stayed in the family and the queen should. have helped her nephew and niece in that matter
Margaret was not granted the title of Countess of Snowdon and she was not the founder of the Snowden family line and the Poltimore Tiara was NOT the Snowdon Tiara there was no Snowdon Tiara and our late Queen should not have helped her nephew who inherited most of Margaret's things it was TONY who was offered a title and he was created 1st Earl of Snowdon 1961 and the Countess of Snowdon title is only a courtesy title for the wife of the Earl of Snowden and Tony's wedding present to Margaret was a set of floral diamond brooches and these were made into a Tiara which Sarah wore on her wedding day
Beautiful Princess who was so lucky to have such Jewell’s but such a sad life
It would be interesting studying the Luxembourg jewel collection .....
I have her perfume, it’s still being made. I wonder if they’ve altered the modern scent somehow, it’s been made since the 30’s.
YOU ARE MARVELLOUS AS USUAL !
THANKS TO YOU I'M LEARNING 12:08 TO KNOW EVERY PIECE OF JEWLERY IN THE RC !

Congratulations. Jewellery should be shown as it is worn not in a box.

I don’t know why they’d sell those jewels that belonged to queen Mary
I think due to the huge inheritance tax in UK
@alecto7926 I guess but I do whatever to keep jewels. Idk why QEII didn’t just purchase them
Guilt. Mary took advantage of desperate women trying to find refuge after the Romanovs were murdered.
Why did Grevill leave her jewels to the Queen? It's kind of odd.
I read that because she had no kids or relatives she gave them to the Queen mother her dear friend
Does this video creator ever give context or is it just kind of a general survey for fun?
Im also sooo curious why her children gave so much for sale? Outside of insurance costs surely the pieces were worth keeping in the family no?
I understand that Queen Mary was relentless in pursuing her jewels
