Here's everything I can find as a lance main: 1. 00:04 The power guard finishes with a jump now (probably gives it higher reach.. also just looks cool) 2. 00:14 When the hunter starts the guard (the second time) there's a brief flash of blue (probably the parry window.. could be adept/insta-block but I feel like they would have showed that if that was the case) Also lance definitely still takes some major knockback (they might rework it to work better with the weapon swapping, but it could potentially mean lance still needs some skill investment with guard) (to be fair it is blocking heavy attacks, but ideally you don't want to take that much time to recover unless you like to power guard cancel) 3. 00:18 It looks like there's a good amount of side adjustment you can do between each thrust. (Also here is where it's most noticeable that the balahara lance is water element) 4. 00:23 They added a cool triple thrust at the end of the 3 hit combo. (It looks like it functions as a 4th hit finisher so we get to keep the 3 hit combo and simply have the option to have a strong finisher. So seems like they finally figured out how to add a strong move to the lance without disrupting the 3 poke combo. Not to mention it looks amazing) 5. 00:27 They added a quick counter shield bash. (It actually looks like he gets hit by the attack during the blue flash at the start of the guard. So this might actually be what that "parry window" I mentioned earlier results in) (This could also be really good for getting a quick counter in and going back to your normal combos. Kind of like shield tackle from sunbreak but with a little more timing involved. Also looks cooler in my opinion) 6. 00:29 I actually missed this at the beginning. But it seems like you can go directly into power guard instead of going through the normal counter and then transitioning to power guard. (has that always been a thing that I never knew about? I haven't played world/iceborne so let me know if that's possible there. I know its not in rise/sunbreak) 7. 00:33 Power guard can now finish forward instead of just upward. (I wonder if this means leaping thrust isn't available out of power guard.. or if they have it assigned to a different button. But they also never show leaping thrust or guard advance in the trailer so it's either not in the moveset or they just left it out of the trailer. Probably just left it out because guard advance is very crucial to the lance's mobility so taking that out would be very bad) 8. 00:36 After the forward power guard finisher the hunter transitions immediately into the dash attack.. like virtually no startup which is pretty huge. The slow startup has always prevented me from even considering it over the shield charge in rise/sunbreak. Not to mention they seem to start the dash already at full speed which is great. (I actually hope the dash attack gets rid of the whole startup pose and slower run to transition into full speed. That would be what could put it on par with shield charge in terms of fluidity to use. Although judging by the glow at the start of the dash it might still normally start slower.. cause the glow typically signifies the moment you enter full speed) 9. 00:40 Focus mode has this really cool uppercut with the shield. (I'm really glad wilds is making good use of the lance's shield) The uppercut is followed up by what looks like the shield charge from rise except it does hits all along the charge (like dash attack normally does) instead of just once (excluding the finisher obviously). Also here's a good place to mention it seems like the shield attacks also get the water element. Which is a pretty huge addition. I thought it might just be an addition to all shield attacks so I checked the sword and shield trailer to make sure.. and sword and shield doesn't seem to have element on the shield bashes. So this might be only for lance which would be pretty cool and give it some uniqueness 10. 00:46 The counter-thrust has a two hit finisher now. (The monster flinches after the first hit and there's no damage numbers so it's hard to know for sure.. but it seems like the second hit is actually the stronger one. Visually that definitely seems to be the case) [Edit: (Most of my edits are in the replies section of this comment, it doesn't let me add that much info in one post lol. But this one is probably better served here as well) This move actually also seems to be chargeable, it first glows white and then later on in the charge glows like an orange-ish color. I suspect that the thrust out of the orange charge is stronger and perhaps visually different from the thrust out of the white charge. (I go further into detail in the edits section)] 11. 00:51 Lance's version of the clash. Overall lance looks amazing. I'm glad the trailer did a good job showing off all of the new additions. People who main other weapons might not notice much but honestly it seems like the lance has almost the entire moveset altered (other than the 3 poke combo which is good lol). That's the one thing that should be the exact same.
Yep these are huge, what I really like, is being able to keep focus on the monster with well Focus! You don't have to side step anymore to walk a little to the left or right without turning. This seems small, but I can think of a lot of moments where I needed to reposition and got hit during the dodge.
i mained lance in Sunbreak and it was my second main in icebourne first of all, it looks sick! similar to gunlance, you can do your pokes while side hopping. that blue light is for sure the new shield counter, but i can't think of a possible key combination for that. probably you need to press focus mode button plus circle. or it is standard now, every guard is adept guard. it was similar to gunlance trailer as well, you could adept guard into slam and full burst. power guard finisher now has very high reach, we will drop rathalos to ground with this one alternatively i guess if you input triangle after you get hit it gen poke straigt, and can be followed with triangle and circle for dash attack overall I am so happy that the OG counter weapon has more counters now. I see great KO potential, and the poking seem faster and safer now. in rise i rarely poked, I was doing shield advance + triple poke. and I loved the shield deco that can damage / KO monsters with regular guard. it is so satisfying to drop risen elders just with guarding lmao. I call it the Luigi Stance, you win by doing absolutely nothing but i also liked shield attack + insta block I wonder if we will have options to change certain combos like switch skills

Dualblades will be revealed tomorrow with the Congalala armor and because of the Reveal people will know the Origin and Congalala will be the 4th killable Monster in the Demo, thats why they kept the weapon last so people wouldnt know the next returning Monster

I realised here just how big and imposing Doshaguma is - imagine that thing rearing up to swipe its 5-ton claws at you. The low camera angle of the Lance player really sold its size which contrasted even better against just how immovable the Hunter was against it.
@mcgruber the lance had one too, instead of lodging the sword in its mouth, the monster was trying to bite down on the lancer's shield on that final attack of the video

I mean they still got the rise stuff close enough, albeit more balanced now. at the end he does a jump with the rush-down move so that's returning from rise's whole pseudo aerial style lance combo, and as for the shield bash they seem like they implemented it into the focus attacks but changed it up into a double shield bash. ALL IN ALL I AM EXCITED FOR THIS AS A LANCE MAIN
At 0:12 you can see that this set (Probably Balahara) Uses the new slimmer slinger model instead of the chunky World one. Alongside the previous sets, this pretty much confirms that new sets will use the Wilds slinger and old ones will use the World slinger

It will be 95% the best it's ever been. What's the missing 5%? Twin vines from Rise. I will miss being able to fly higher than any hunter has ever flown before, and hopping along with the monsters as they try to run, being dragged along by the rope I've lassod onto them lol
i hated how anime Rise was and i'm glad they dial it back and actually make every move so much meatier, especially for Lance. Definitely looking like the best it has ever been in both movesets and feels!
From this trailer alone, it honestly doesn’t look like they’ve changed too much other than the Lance incorporating attacks while evading which is pretty interesting. Can’t wait to see how it works in game though.
YOOOOO LET'S GO LANCE BROS!!!! All the animations are just that much meatier, the sidestep poke combo is just fantastic!! And did I see a follow up to the pokepokepoke that leads into charge? And SHIELD CHARGE is the focus mode move??? Not only that but this lance is the most beautiful weapon that's been shown thus far, we are truly blessed
Such a tasteful update to the lance's moveset! Still keeping that grounded, tank-like feel while adding a bunch of new moves that really seem to understand what the lance was missing. Not to mention the armor!? Bruh, Capcom is cooking!
I mained Lance for the first time in Rise. The speed of the game with the lance felt really good (and being able to tank Magnamalo attacks easy among others). The added shield attacks and side steps between attacks look really great.
This is quite interesting and exciting, Lance hasn't recieved theese many new moves before to it's base kit. World and Iceborne mostly added QoL to the kit but the only new move Lance recieved in those games was the Power Guard and the Clutch Claw Counter. This seems also QoL improvements but I've seen multiple new moves that need more scrutinization. so here's a list of things I've noticed/detected: - In the first clip where the hunter is just blocking you can see a feint glow in the first few frames when the hunter blocks. This probably means that there is a parry/perfect guard mechanic now akin to an Adept Guard (although with how very few frames it seems to last I'd say is more of a perfect guard than an equivalent to the Adept Block from GenU and Sunbreak). - Like with the other weapons, now you can move while attacking wich is cool for micro-adjustments. - The triple poke combo we all know and love now appears to have an opt-in finisher in the form of a fourth attack consisting of three quick pokes. - The clip with the Shield Counter happens so fast that it is unclear if the attack is either one of the possible options you can opt-in with a succesful counter or the result of the perfect guard mentioned before. - The Counter Thrust now lifts you into the air a bit wich is adorable and probably has a bit more range than it did before. Also seems a bit more girthy. - The Counter Thrust can now be imputed horizontaly. - Still unclear if it can be done with the normal Counter Thrust but the horizontal version seems to be capable of being followed-up nearly instantly and fluidly into the Dash Attack which is cool. - The focus mode attack speaks for itself. Absolutely satisfying to uppercut with the shield. - There seems some type of chargable Counter/Parry with one of it's outcomes being a triple poke attack. It is unclear if it only has one hitbox or if it has multiple but it only hit one of them as the two proceeding stabs seemed to be whiffed. It is also unclear if more outcomes are possible depending on how much it is charged. -The clash is what I was expecting, still cool. Like with the other weapons, there might be more changes that we haven't been shown yet due to how short theese showcases are. We must keep our eyes peeled out for more details and information. With a larger implementation fo the shield into the moveset, Slugger might be a viable skill depending on the stun values of the shield attacks. Other than that, there are still some stuff I'm worried about pertaining to the skill tax problems Lance has (specially in Rise/Sunbreak) and hope for stuff like changing Guard Up back to a one level skill or maybe even make Guard have only three levels since lv 2 and 4 are so redundant and useless that their existance are a hindrance. This issue is even worse for poor Gunlance (specialy that now it can counter too). That's just wishful thinking though so I'll keep my expectations in check. As far as I'm concerned right now, the changes seem quite good.

Probably yes, bc I know how cool lance can be, but despise having a ton of new moves that improves the gameplay they aren't to flashy, so for people that never try lance, wilds lance still lack flashiness. Is a weapon that appeal for people that want to feel like a fortress or as a spartan, for the rest of the players at first glance feels boring.
The pokes might be functionally the same, but even the slightly adjusted animation and sudden rush of thrusts just does wonders to make the weapon *feel* better. The shield bash and hard-hitting swings of the weapon on counters really makes me feel like I'm having a deadly duel to the death with the monster, where *I'm* the final boss of the story. That Dark Souls style armour set is just incredibly gorgeous and complements the Lance so well. I don't know how to explain it... It just looks so good now... I'm definitely going to be giving this weapon another chance in Wilds. Thank you Capcom for making this weapon so badass now. Edit: Now just give some flashier moves like that to the SnS and we're golden. I want the moves to have the same impactful feel when you hit the monster, like you're really doing some damage.
When I first tried what they did to lance in Generations I absolutely hated it. They changed the third thrust of the combo to have a slightly longer and more exaggerated animation, likely to sell that it was a more powerful attack than the preceding two pokes. That single change alone made me not want to use it. From what I'm seeing here the bread and butter combo is still fully intact here, you just get more options while doing it via strafing and retreating pokes, and at the end you get the option to reset as before, or to do a really big finisher. The key here is that the move that you are doing all the time have not changed, we simply get more options than before. My only worry is the demonstration of that block. The knockback on what is considered to be a pretty 'low tier' monster looks pretty extreme. I'm worried we're going to have to have a whole ton of guard skills just to make the shield feel nice to use while other weapons can get away with maybe one skill if any to comfortably negate attacks altogether.
@@axiss5840 Probably not making the SnS feel like it hits as hard as the Lance but more comparatively speaking. The impact we can now see on the Lance thrusts as compared to before, it would be nice if SnS also looked and sounded more impactful compared to previous games
@Zulban48 the strong thrust in Gen is gone when you use Striker Lance, which is one of the best lance styles in Gen due to the strong charge finisher and access to 3 faster charging hunter arts.
The wait was worth it, my beloved Lance is here and it looks amazing! New poke combo, using the shield more which I love, and that clash!! I love everything I see here. Can't wait to play through the story with Lance!

Observations 00:06 leaping up for the counter thrust is a new one, that'll be really nice for reaching higher with hits. 00:15 That was the Insta-block shield animation, I guess that it's now built in 00:17 Looks like Balahara is a Water Lance 00:23 That's an interesting side hop there, it's not just stepping to the left, it was rotating around the monster. I'm curious if that's going to only be in focus mode, or if it's like that in general with locked on monsters. 00:25 That double tap before the upward thrust is new. looks like the shield is going to be more usable for impact damage 00:28 So that was a sweep into the Sunbreak Shield Tackle. And not just that, it cut the animation of the sweep as well. That's really nice. The Shield Tackle coming back as a quick way to animation reset is a really welcome addition. 00:35 classic Lance dash is welcome 00:43 Shield Bashing the focus point into a Shield Dash. So I guess Shield Dashing is back and available through Focus mode, I am glad that it is back, was easily my favourite part of the RiseBreak Lance Toolkit 00:53 Looks like the equivalent of Greatswords clash counter, lodging the mouth open with the shield then thrusting into it with the Lance. The big highlights are - A lot of the additions from Rise Break are staying with the lance, namely Instablock, Shield Tackle, and Shield Dashing - There's a bunch of new combo options that take advantage of the Shield as an Impact weapon, to set up some nice new combo lines in addition to what we already have. Overall, can't wait to try it out in the demo.
I don't see the insta block animation... its normally like they swing the shield upwards for a sec. That looked more like they were just raising their shield. I hope you're right though as Insta block was the best 👌

This is exactly the type of video to make lance mains excited and make everyone else say, "how boring" But I'm a lance main, so I'm really excited for Wilds now!
A subtle thing I like is that when it shows the standard triple poke combo at 0:22, the third poke retains the same tempo as the previous pokes, but you can really see the hunter lean hard into the thrust. The last poke of the combo did more damage in previous games, but now it's conveyed more clearly that this attack is gonna hurt.
I was concerned Lance would feel out of place with every weapon having guards and / or counters, but MAN this looks great! Maybe I need to buy a last minute Gamescom ticket after all 👀
Honestly, some good glow-ups here. The addition of shield attacks really should've been added a while ago, love the variety of shield smacks it looks to have. Also love how the Clash attack is just smacking the monster out of the way with the shield, the wall truly yields for no one.
Lance main here, Lance is not as flashy as other weapons, while that remains so there are some things shown here that are not the same as in World, I am intrigued about how this new lance seems to operate and I am looking forward tot his game coming out.

The glorious Lance! People might think of it as a defense or tank weapon but you can literally have 100% uptime on a monster with this weapon, and countering attacks is one of the most satisfying things in Monster Hunter.
It kinda looks like they took Rise's charged sweep and made it a thrust. And added a multi thrust to the end of the thrust combo. I've always wanted the lance to be more aggressive, hopefully it is in Wilds.

However, it not being exciting in world is subjective as nothing is more exciting to me than endlessly parrying every single attack a monster who's moveset I've downloaded over thousands of hours tries to do. (Except Frostfang Barioth)

I realised here just how big and imposing Doshaguma is - imagine that thing rearing up to swipe its 5-ton claws at you. The low camera angle of the Lance player really sold its size which contrasted even better against just how immovable the Hunter was against it.
And the great sword counter didn't? Camera was practically on the ground.

I mean they still got the rise stuff close enough, albeit more balanced now. at the end he does a jump with the rush-down move so that's returning from rise's whole pseudo aerial style lance combo, and as for the shield bash they seem like they implemented it into the focus attacks but changed it up into a double shield bash. ALL IN ALL I AM EXCITED FOR THIS AS A LANCE MAIN

At 0:12 you can see that this set (Probably Balahara) Uses the new slimmer slinger model instead of the chunky World one. Alongside the previous sets, this pretty much confirms that new sets will use the Wilds slinger and old ones will use the World slinger
The LS show case amor, wich is new and probably belongs to doshaguma, has The old style of slinger.
Maybe you can swap slingers?
except for the armor depicted in the longsword showcase, that armor appears to be doshaguma armor and the slinger was chunky

1. overall animation & hitbox overhaul (Strong Poke out of Power Guard, Dash out of Power Guard)
2. 0:18 basic triple poke performs side steps simultaneously
3. 0:25 new high-commitment option directly after triple poke
4. 0:28 new shield counter option
5. 0:44 focus mode
6: 0:50 variation out of the new clashing mechanism. Straight to stagger. only seen so far on Lance & HBG.
Overall pleased. Looks to have a much stronger identity than Sunbreak Lance.

It will be 95% the best it's ever been. What's the missing 5%? Twin vines from Rise. I will miss being able to fly higher than any hunter has ever flown before, and hopping along with the monsters as they try to run, being dragged along by the rope I've lassod onto them lol

Such a tasteful update to the lance's moveset! Still keeping that grounded, tank-like feel while adding a bunch of new moves that really seem to understand what the lance was missing. Not to mention the armor!? Bruh, Capcom is cooking!

SHIELD COUNTER TO SHIELD BASH IS BEAUTIFUL AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I mained Lance for the first time in Rise. The speed of the game with the lance felt really good (and being able to tank Magnamalo attacks easy among others). The added shield attacks and side steps between attacks look really great.
FINALLY!! LANCE BROS UNITE!
This is quite interesting and exciting, Lance hasn't recieved theese many new moves before to it's base kit. World and Iceborne mostly added QoL to the kit but the only new move Lance recieved in those games was the Power Guard and the Clutch Claw Counter. This seems also QoL improvements but I've seen multiple new moves that need more scrutinization. so here's a list of things I've noticed/detected:
- In the first clip where the hunter is just blocking you can see a feint glow in the first few frames when the hunter blocks. This probably means that there is a parry/perfect guard mechanic now akin to an Adept Guard (although with how very few frames it seems to last I'd say is more of a perfect guard than an equivalent to the Adept Block from GenU and Sunbreak).
- Like with the other weapons, now you can move while attacking wich is cool for micro-adjustments.
- The triple poke combo we all know and love now appears to have an opt-in finisher in the form of a fourth attack consisting of three quick pokes.
- The clip with the Shield Counter happens so fast that it is unclear if the attack is either one of the possible options you can opt-in with a succesful counter or the result of the perfect guard mentioned before.
- The Counter Thrust now lifts you into the air a bit wich is adorable and probably has a bit more range than it did before. Also seems a bit more girthy.
- The Counter Thrust can now be imputed horizontaly.
- Still unclear if it can be done with the normal Counter Thrust but the horizontal version seems to be capable of being followed-up nearly instantly and fluidly into the Dash Attack which is cool.
- The focus mode attack speaks for itself. Absolutely satisfying to uppercut with the shield.
- There seems some type of chargable Counter/Parry with one of it's outcomes being a triple poke attack. It is unclear if it only has one hitbox or if it has multiple but it only hit one of them as the two proceeding stabs seemed to be whiffed. It is also unclear if more outcomes are possible depending on how much it is charged.
-The clash is what I was expecting, still cool.
Like with the other weapons, there might be more changes that we haven't been shown yet due to how short theese showcases are. We must keep our eyes peeled out for more details and information. With a larger implementation fo the shield into the moveset, Slugger might be a viable skill depending on the stun values of the shield attacks.
Other than that, there are still some stuff I'm worried about pertaining to the skill tax problems Lance has (specially in Rise/Sunbreak) and hope for stuff like changing Guard Up back to a one level skill or maybe even make Guard have only three levels since lv 2 and 4 are so redundant and useless that their existance are a hindrance. This issue is even worse for poor Gunlance (specialy that now it can counter too). That's just wishful thinking though so I'll keep my expectations in check.
As far as I'm concerned right now, the changes seem quite good.

Probably yes, bc I know how cool lance can be, but despise having a ton of new moves that improves the gameplay they aren't to flashy, so for people that never try lance, wilds lance still lack flashiness.
Is a weapon that appeal for people that want to feel like a fortress or as a spartan, for the rest of the players at first glance feels boring.

The pokes might be functionally the same, but even the slightly adjusted animation and sudden rush of thrusts just does wonders to make the weapon *feel* better. The shield bash and hard-hitting swings of the weapon on counters really makes me feel like I'm having a deadly duel to the death with the monster, where *I'm* the final boss of the story. That Dark Souls style armour set is just incredibly gorgeous and complements the Lance so well. I don't know how to explain it... It just looks so good now... I'm definitely going to be giving this weapon another chance in Wilds. Thank you Capcom for making this weapon so badass now.
Edit: Now just give some flashier moves like that to the SnS and we're golden. I want the moves to have the same impactful feel when you hit the monster, like you're really doing some damage.
SnS is supposed to be lighter than Lance, it can't hit as hard. Otherwise what's the point of Lance?
When I first tried what they did to lance in Generations I absolutely hated it. They changed the third thrust of the combo to have a slightly longer and more exaggerated animation, likely to sell that it was a more powerful attack than the preceding two pokes. That single change alone made me not want to use it. From what I'm seeing here the bread and butter combo is still fully intact here, you just get more options while doing it via strafing and retreating pokes, and at the end you get the option to reset as before, or to do a really big finisher. The key here is that the move that you are doing all the time have not changed, we simply get more options than before.
My only worry is the demonstration of that block. The knockback on what is considered to be a pretty 'low tier' monster looks pretty extreme. I'm worried we're going to have to have a whole ton of guard skills just to make the shield feel nice to use while other weapons can get away with maybe one skill if any to comfortably negate attacks altogether.

@Zulban48 the strong thrust in Gen is gone when you use Striker Lance, which is one of the best lance styles in Gen due to the strong charge finisher and access to 3 faster charging hunter arts.
I waited patiently for the lance video and was not disappointed, this is the lance I’ve known and loved since MH3U. Looking forward to playing!

00:23 That's an interesting side hop there, it's not just stepping to the left, it was rotating around the monster. I'm curious if that's going to only be in focus mode, or if it's like that in general with locked on monsters.
00:25 That double tap before the upward thrust is new. looks like the shield is going to be more usable for impact damage
00:28 So that was a sweep into the Sunbreak Shield Tackle. And not just that, it cut the animation of the sweep as well. That's really nice. The Shield Tackle coming back as a quick way to animation reset is a really welcome addition.

00:43 Shield Bashing the focus point into a Shield Dash. So I guess Shield Dashing is back and available through Focus mode, I am glad that it is back, was easily my favourite part of the RiseBreak Lance Toolkit
00:53 Looks like the equivalent of Greatswords clash counter, lodging the mouth open with the shield then thrusting into it with the Lance.
The big highlights are
- A lot of the additions from Rise Break are staying with the lance, namely Instablock, Shield Tackle, and Shield Dashing
- There's a bunch of new combo options that take advantage of the Shield as an Impact weapon, to set up some nice new combo lines in addition to what we already have.
Overall, can't wait to try it out in the demo.

A subtle thing I like is that when it shows the standard triple poke combo at 0:22, the third poke retains the same tempo as the previous pokes, but you can really see the hunter lean hard into the thrust. The last poke of the combo did more damage in previous games, but now it's conveyed more clearly that this attack is gonna hurt.

I was concerned Lance would feel out of place with every weapon having guards and / or counters, but MAN this looks great! Maybe I need to buy a last minute Gamescom ticket after all 👀
Honestly, some good glow-ups here. The addition of shield attacks really should've been added a while ago, love the variety of shield smacks it looks to have. Also love how the Clash attack is just smacking the monster out of the way with the shield, the wall truly yields for no one.
Lance main here, Lance is not as flashy as other weapons, while that remains so there are some things shown here that are not the same as in World, I am intrigued about how this new lance seems to operate and I am looking forward tot his game coming out.

It kinda looks like they took Rise's charged sweep and made it a thrust. And added a multi thrust to the end of the thrust combo. I've always wanted the lance to be more aggressive, hopefully it is in Wilds.
It looks super aggresive, especially with the ability to reposition without slowing down the pokes. Excited to see how it plays.
Lance is pretty aggressive, un-ending dps, you never leave the monster's face the whole hunt.
@@Swissgar0 Aggressive yes, but not really exciting in World. This is aggressive *and* exciting. The Lance's problem wasn't that it was bad, it was that it was boring.
@h1de2m33 I agree with exciting this looks incredible. Especially the return of insta block.
However, it not being exciting in world is subjective as nothing is more exciting to me than endlessly parrying every single attack a monster who's moveset I've downloaded over thousands of hours tries to do. (Except Frostfang Barioth)
@@idkwatimdoingtbhLance could already do similar in World with being able to segue any poke into a shield dash of any direction + lunging poke, though this version seems to allow defensive poke play more normatively.
